"Your Grace, my name is Illyrio Mopatis, a humble Magister of Pentos."
The fat man bowed slightly as the siblings debarked the ship.
Viserys nodded his head, "Viserys Targaryen." Daenerys was behind him, her hands curled into fists as she looked around curiously.
Behind the siblings were two men carrying their trunks on their shoulders.
'I would have started acting arrogant and prideful if I were to stay with him longer, but now it doesn't make much sense. I will leave in a day or two after all.'
Illyrio eyed the two siblings for a moment before he continued, "I was going to write a letter to Ser Willem Darry for the Targaryen cause, Your Grace. But the man died too early." His eyes were down as if he were sad for the knight's death.
Viserys nodded his head. "Thank you for your support, Lord Illyrio. I will not forget your support once I take back the Iron Throne."
Illyrio smiled at his words and looked behind him, signaling one of his slaves to take the luggage from the ship workers.
"Why don't we continue our discussion in my mansion, Your Grace? I have made sure that the house is decorated to your taste."
"Thank you for your consideration, my lord. My sister and I are too tired from the travels and desperately need time to rest," Viserys answered.
The group then took a carriage to Illyrio's mansion, which was in the richest part of the city.
Dany, all along the way, had sparkling eyes as she looked at the vibrant houses. The houses here are different from Braavos, with some having flat roofs while others are dome-shaped.
The journey took another hour before they reached his mansion, which overlooked the sea.
Once the group entered the mansion, Illyrio clapped his hands, and two maids dressed in decent clothes walked toward them.
They both were in their thirties with some decent curves to them.
Illyrio eyed Viserys from the corner of his eye but frowned when Viserys looked at them impassively.
'Could it be….?' he asked himself as he looked at Dany, 'No, I have to make sure that these two don't unite.'
"Your Grace, the maids here will lead you to your rooms," Ilkyrio said with a fake smile plastered on his face.
But Viserys shook his head and replied, "That cannot do. My sister will stay with me, and she is scared of new people." He rejected Illyrio.
'With her in my room, we can quickly escape,' Viserys mused inwardly.
Illyrio's mouth twitched, but he still kept his smile; he had to act politely in front of this boy prince, after all.
"Of course, Your Grace." He said as he signaled the maids.
The maids then led the siblings through the hallways, and Viserys's eyes scanned the everything.
He ignored the heavy decorations on the walls and focused on the rooms.
The maids led them to a room that was on the other side of the entrance.
TSK
Viserys clicked his tongue inwardly, 'I wish the room to be a little closer to the entrance but it's fine.'
The maids opened the door; the two slaves, carrying the trunks behind them, entered the room and put the trunks in a corner.
Viserys then turned toward the two maids and said, "Tell Lord Illyrio that we are happy with our accommodations and that he has my gratitude."
The two maids bowed in reply and stayed silent for the prince to continue, "We will take a rest today and tomorrow and will discuss our next steps later. I want our meals to be brought to the room."
The maids bowed once again and left with the two slaves, leaving the siblings alone in the room.
Voserys waited for a few minutes before he turned toward Dany and said, "Dany, get some rest. We might leave during the night."
His voice was low so that even if someone were listening in on them, they wouldn't hear a thing.
Dany pursed her lips as she clenched her fists. "Okay, brother." Her eyes were resolute, supporting her brother no matter what he did.
The siblings then got on the bed; sleep took over almost instantly in each other's arms.
The Targaryens slept in for a few hours until Viserys heard a knock on the door.
"Your Grace, your dinner is here." The maid from before said, stirring awake the Targaryen prince.
He walked over to the door and opened it for the maids to enter.
The two maids from before walked in, holding quite a few trays in their hands.
Viserys went on to wake Dany up, and they both had a luxurious meal.
Dany was all smiles as she got to eat something other than a loaf of bread and a smelly fish.
It was almost nighttime as the sun had set when they finished the meal.
The maids bowed to them and left the room.
Viserys walked over to the trunks and lifted them. The trunks were not that heavy, as they only had clothes, some books, and some jewelry.
"Dany," Viserys called out, turning to his sister. He said, "Once I go out of the room to get the eggs, I want you to wait for me with the trunks, okay?"
Dany replied with a curt nod. Both siblings then sat on the bed, waiting for the night to come.
"Brother, can you tell me a story?" Dany asked as she sat on his lap, her arms around his neck.
"Hmm," Viserys hummed as he thought of a story. "What story do you want?" he asked, turning to his sister.
Dany's eyes lit up as she immediately answered, "The story of Aegon, the Conqueror!"
SIGH
Viserys sighed at her answer; she was fascinated by this story and always requested that he narrate it to her.
"Alright…" he said, "A long time ago, Aegon the First, along with his sister-wives, decided to conquer the continent of Westeros…."
Viserys narrated the whole story to his sister, who listened to it intently. Her eyes sparkled when Viserys described Balerion, the biggest dragon to exist.
".... And after defeating every foe, Aegon made his throne, made up of the swords of his enemies."
Viserys ended; it was nighttime by now, and in an hour or so, everyone in the mansion would be asleep.
"Brother!" Dany called out, her voice containing excitement at knowing that Viserys was going to fetch their dragon eggs.
Viserys looked at his sister. "What is it, Dany?"
"Will our dragons be as big as Balreion?" she asked, her heartbeat quickening with anticipation for his answer.
Viserys thought for a moment, 'Dragons are said to grow when they are set free and not caged.'
"Sure, it will take time, but if given their freedom, they can grow as big as Balerion," Viserys answered.
Dany made an 'O' shape with her mouth, "Then, brother, can we go to Westeros once our dragons are big!?"
Viserys pursed his lips as he didn't know what to say; 'I don't want her to be sad, nor do I want to fight…' he thought to himself.
"We will talk about it once our dragons are big, okay?" he said with a small smile on his face.
Dany's face sank at his answer; she couldn't understand why her brother, who wanted to take back the throne more than anything else, was now opposed to it.
Viserys watched her reaction; he sighed inwardly as he leaned in closer and kissed her forehead. "Listen, Dany. You are still young and are my only family. I want you to grow peacefully. Until then, no more talking about going back to Westeros, okay?"
"Mhmm," Dany hummed as she pressed her lips; she fiddled with her fingers as she tried to understand his words.
"Then, when I grow up, can we go back?" she asked, meekly.
"....Sure," Viserys answered after a moment of silence. 'I hope she forgets about it…'
The sibling stayed silent for a while; Dany hugged her brother while thinking about the days they would return home.
While Viserys thought about the plan once they escaped, 'Taking two horses would be ideal. And since it's night, I don't think there would be too much patrol, and all of the guards are sellswords anyway; a gold dragon or two would shut their mouths long enough for us to be far away.'
"It's time, Dany…" Viserys whispered as he looked at the full moon hanging high in the sky.
Dany's eyes flickered; she let go of his neck while she mumbled, "Be safe, brother."
Viserys nodded his head as he added, "Mhhm, be ready to leave. I won't be long."
The siblings got out of bed; Viserys walked toward the door, while Daenerys watched her brother with a worried gaze, her heart thumping against her chest as she clenched her fists.
"Be safe, brother…" she whispered once again as Viserys left the room.
