Its Like A Game

"Hah," Atlas sighed as the goblin finally died. He turned towards the twins and saw the other goblins were already dead.

"HA, see that Apollo I clearly did better, I killed them both 3 seconds before you!" Artemis suddenly burst out.

"What do you mean! I hit both of mine in the eyes you missed the eyes on both!"

"Ugh," she suddenly groaned while clutching her chest.

"Are you alright?"

"I have to admit, you won this one. But this will not be the last of Arty the archer!" She said, like she was in some crappy tv show.

Atlas just stared at the two like they were crazy. "We are fighting monsters we have never seen before and all you can think about is your contest," he said while shaking his head.

"Whatever, what was the word the voice told us again? Status."

"I leveled up. I don't feel any different," he said as he looked at his body, "The stat points are new what are they for?"

[Stat points are used to increase your stats seen on your status screen.]

"Oh, I didn't know it would answer questions. How do I increase them then?" He asked after it replied the first time.

After waiting a few seconds, he realized that not all his questions would be answered.

"Wow, how rude. Whatever, can I touch this thing. It doesn't even look like something I can touch."

As he moved his hand to touch the screen, he was shocked to realize that his hand didn't pass through.

"Atlas what are you doing?" Apollo suddenly asked after watching him for a second.

"Do you mean you can't see my status screen?"

"Is that what you're looking at? It looks like you're poking the air." Apollo said giving him a strange look.

"Did you hear the voice just now then?"

Apollo shook his head as he brought up his status screen.

'I really can't see anything,' he thought looking back at his status screen.

'Let's try to put one point into strength.'

As he tapped on the number beside strength, a smaller screen popped up that read:

[Add how many points to strength ( )]

He wrote one in the open space and selected yes in the window that came up afterwards. After the number rose by one, he tried to move to see if anything felt different. There wasn't much of a difference he could feel, what he wanted to try was lifting the weights, he wanted to see if it felt any different.

Before he could even move to check the change the bodies of the goblins started to change. It looked like it was starting to melt, the skin went first and just partially liquefied as it seeped into the floor. Then the meat and muscles turned into this pinkish-red syrup like consistency flowed into the ground with a rancid smell. Afterwards just its insides and skeleton laid there for a few seconds before the also melted away along with the smell. The whole thing took no less than 30 seconds.

Atlas could hear Artemis retching behind him and Apollo was no better, and he didn't blame them. It was a grotesque sight, even he could barely hold it together.

"So that was how it leveled up? This whole thing has too many mechanisms. It's just a complicated game." He muttered when he saw the notification, "and the bodies do they always do that? It really is disgusting."

As he looked at his status screen again, he tried asking what each stat would increase when upgraded. To his surprise he got a reply from the voice.

[Strength: Increases most physical aspects of the body including muscle strength and endurance. Certain active and passive skills along with equipment will raise this higher.]

[Agility: Increase the natural speed of your body and taking your speed past what just increasing strength can do. Certain active and passive skills along with equipment will raise this higher.]

[Resistance: Increase the resistance of your body to multiple factors such as physical and magical damage, fatigue and poisons. Certain active and passive skills along with equipment will raise this higher.]

[Vitality: Increase the bodies amount of energy allowing for faster healing and more stamina. Certain active and passive skills along with equipment will raise this higher.]

[Magic power: Increase the amount of mana your body can hold as well as determine the strength and density of it. Certain active and passive skills along with equipment will raise this higher.]

[Mana: The amount of mana within your body, used for active skills and can be used to make ordinary attacks stronger. Certain active and passive skills along with equipment will raise this higher.]

[Stat points: Awarded upon level up and special events can be used to increase most stats. Stat points can be given through training and will be directly added to the stat trained.]

[Skill points: Given as special rewards for special events can be used to directly increase the level of skills.]

"Ugh, that's a lot of information. Can you repeat that?"

After listening to the voice tell him what the stats do, he had a good understanding of what each stat did.

"I already used one in strength so let's use one on agility, resistance and vitality. I don't even know how to use mana so let's keep the last one for now. I know it should be hard to raise an all-round build, but I will pick two or three to focus on later."

"You two leveled up just now, right?"

"Yeah."

"Yes."

"Ok, ask that voice about the stats and choose how you are going to invest them. You guys are smart enough to decide on your own, but you must promise me you won't do something stupid like try to balance everything. It is fine for now but later you need to be more focused; you guys play games even more than I have so I'm sure you already know."

"Ahhhh, I can become the best archer in the worldddddd. Apollo will never win again, 51 is all he gets. Ahahahaha!" Artemis looked like a crazy girl saying this as she laughed at Apollo.

"Shut up, I won this one and I will win all the rest too. I will be the best archer!" Apollo hastily said in response.

"Ha, come on you guys lets go inside they are waiting for us, you can compete later." Atlas cut in laughing at their usual antics.

'I will never let anyone take this from me,' he thought as he marched inside with the twins following him.

Hello, author again, how did you like the new chapter. I hope the info dumps aren't excessive and I hope the stats and what they do make sense. If you have any suggestions about improvements for my writing please don't hesitate to leave them.
