School Before The Apocalypse

Leonidas walked up to the counter and the woman at the desk greeted him, "Hello, you must be the new student, Leonidas Aeolus, right?"

"Yeah that's me. Where's my class room then?"

"Eager to learn I see, it's on the second floor in room 112, and I believe your home room teacher will give you a time table with all of your lesson's locations on it."

"Alright, thanks for the help."

Leonidas walked casually through the hall way and up the stairs. He seemed to be late for home room as nobody else was walking around. He pushed open the door and was greeted by the teacher who was a short man in his thirties with brown hair.

"Welcome, Leonidas. We're glad to have you here. This is your time table with all of your lessons on it and your seat is at the back in the corner."

"Thanks man, but don't call me Leonidas. I feel more comfortable just being called Zero."

"Sure thing. You hear that everyone, he wants to be called Zero so make sure to remember that."

The students were a bit confused but just presumed it to be a nickname of some sort. However, the girls were more focused on his good looks and how they could get closer to him and the boys were split between wanting to befriend him and being jealous.

Leonidas sat down and waited for something to happen. He quickly realised that this was just some free time before the first lesson of the day and that everyone was talking. He knew that he needed to increase his social skills like he was told, and approached a group of boys.

"Hey, what's up guys. You chill with me joining you lot?"

Unluckily for Leonidas this was the group of boys who disliked him. The leader of the group spoke up, "I do mind actually, so why don't you go find someone else to talk to."

"Oh, sure thing man." Leonidas was annoyed but could not show it as he could very easily kill the boy by accident.

He then walked over to a group of the girls, as although he was sixteen years old, he was not bothered about girls due to being isolated for so long.

"Hey, those guys over there said that I can't sit with them. Do you mind if I join you?"

One of the girls instantly responded, "No problem here, we'd love to have you sit with us."

"Thanks guys, can one of you help me out, I have no clue where this room for my first lesson is, any pointers?"

A different girl chimed in, "Yep, that room is the changing room for boys, it's on the very bottom floor."

She was cut off by another girl, "You should know that it's sports day today so we're all doing it together and we will be competing against each other in different events. Don't worry if you can't win any of the events, some of those guys are really good at sports."

"Thanks for the helpful information, although I don't think that I'll lose anything."

The bell rang which signalled that it was time for them to go to their next lesson. Leonidas left the room and walked down the stairs. He arrived at the changing room but was the first one there. He waited for a while and a physical education teacher approached him and unlocked the door, "You, the new student? Try your best today kid."

"Will do, thanks for opening the door."

Leonidas walked into the room and sat down on a bench in the corner. After about thirty seconds, the other boys started flooding through the door. They got their PE clothes out and started to get changed into them.

Some of the guys were talking to each other, "Damn dude, you've got a lot of muscle on you. There's no way that you don't win all of the events today."

The person being sucked up to was the leader of the group from before and he was happy to accept the praise, "You know it, nobody here can even compete with me."

Leonidas did not pay much attention to their conversation and started to get changed himself.

the same guy that was praising the leader of the 'bullies' looked over at Leonidas and was shocked, "Holy shit, look at the new kid."

Everyone looked over at Leonidas who was now aware of everyone staring at him, "Is there a problem?"

The leader responded, "Yeah, there is. For one, you dyed your hair. The second reason is your burnt skin that spells out 0000. Third is that you're jacked as fuck, and I don't like people looking better than me."

"One, I didn't dye my hair, this is just what happened to it over the last eleven years. Two, you don't have the right to know why that burn is there. Three, if you're so insecure about your own body then work out more instead of being jealous."

The bully did not respond and Leonidas finished getting changed. The clothes were just a shorts and a t-shirt which meant his muscular arms and legs were on full display. The whole group went outside and met up with the girls for the joint sports day.

Everyone was surprised at Leonidas' physique but they started the activities none the less.

First up was shot put, most people did well but the best so far was the bully leader just as expected. Leonidas was the last one to throw it and when he did, everyone was in immense shock. He had beaten the world record by over five times and completely demolished the other scores.

Next was the javelin throw and everyone expected Leonidas to win this one as well. This meant that everyone was cleared out of the surrounding area for safety when it was his turn. He threw it so fast and so hard that it could be heard whistling through the wind and once it landed, the world record was once again shattered.

The three races were up next. First was the 100m race and Leonidas took part in it. As soon as the stop watch was started and the students could run, Leonidas pushed forward as fast as possible which left a hole in the ground and after 1.47 seconds, he was already over the finish line.

Next up was the 800m race which he also took part in. As soon as he could start running, he did. He ran faster than what should be humanly possible and finished the race in 10.72 seconds which was astounding as he finished the race minutes before everyone else.

The 5 kilometre run was up next and barely any people wanted to do it. Leonidas did though, and he ran even faster than before. He finished with a time of 52.39 seconds.

Every single person that was present that day would never forget what had happened due to the sheer amount of physical prowess displayed that day. Leonidas had broken every world record for each event that he took part in by a huge margin and he didn't even try at all.

However, nobody really mentioned what had happened but Leonidas was not bothered by the bullies anymore. In return, he just got more attention from the girls.

He finished his day off with an English lesson and then a Maths lesson which were easy due to Leonidas' augmented brain.

Once the day ended, he went back to the home that was specially prepared for him, exercised, ate and went to sleep.

The days went by pretty much the same as this and he had to reject a lot of girls along the way as he had no time or interest in them.

Everything was normal for the first time in his life...

That was until he heard loud screams coming from outside of his history class room. He knew that the apocalypse had started and although he was sad that his brief normal life had ended, he was more excited to be able to have his years of training and torture pay off.
