***It was two in the afternoon later that same day. The rain was now slightly heavy***
Jacob was sitting on his king-sized bed bowing his head and thinking deeply.
He heard the door opening and he jolted out of his thoughts. He lifted his he ad to look at who was coming in and he tightly furrowed his eyebrows seeing it was Henry.
Henry was in a fit of rage. He started to him, "I asked you not to push through with proposing to that nurse yet you defied me and you did not show up at work."
Jacob furiously sprang up to his feet. He walked a few steps from him and stared at the window.
"Because of the stupid mistake you've made, the company has lost a huge contract worth millions."
Jacob was quite astonished, he turned to him feeling quite confused.
"How dad?"
"The clients were at the conference room waiting to discuss with you."
"But, we scheduled a meeting for next week."
"Yea but they changed their minds and wanted to quickly push through with the project and they wanted your presence. Since you weren't present, they backed out of the deal. I tried to reach you but you picked none of my calls and where were you? At a stupid restaurant proposing to Darci. Is Darci more important than the company?"
"Dad you should know that Darci is my life, and I love her. Don't worry, I will meet with the clients and try to convince them to change their minds."
"How? When they have already struck a deal with another company?"
"I don't like the way you're acting, it's as if you are casting all of the blame on Darci."
"Golden Builders has lost a huge deal and you have the nerve to speak to me about Darci? You've got to figure out how to solve this problem and focus on work." Henry said firmly.
He turned to walk away, and Jacob uttered, "I love Darci and I will fight for her. I won't let the business get in the way of our love for each other dad."
Henry clenched his fists and he stormed out.
Henry walked through the stairs to his bedroom. He kicked the door open and Bea got startled by the noise. She stood up quickly from the dressing table and turned to look at Henry approaching the bed.
She walked to him wondering why he was upset.
"What's wrong?"
"It's Jacob!" Henry shouted, "he's getting on my nerves and it's all because of that nurse! If only I knew that she'll become a distraction, I would not have hired her to take care of Jacob."
"Oh, so that's why Darci was hesitant on accepting Jacob's proposal. Well, I don't see her as a barrier. Can't you see that ever since she appeared in Jacob's life, that he is very lively? She makes our son happy."
"My business was doing okay until she came into our lives. I will never accept her, and I want her out of Jacob's life for good." Henry screamed.
"Jacob is not a child so you cannot take decisions that he do not approve of. I like Darci, and I will not go against the woman who made my son recover. Darci dedicated her life to Jacob, and I know that she loves him." Bea said firmly and stormed out.
***It was a fluorescent morning the subsequent day***
Jacob was sitting on his comfy bed in his bedroom staring into space. He sprang up to his feet, and walked towards the window. He stared outside at the swimming pool reminiscing when him and Darci were in the pool. His legs were dangling, and Darci held him tightly by his waist so he won't drown.
An image of him kissing her in the pool, flashed through his mind and he jolted out of his thoughts.
He walked from the window and approached his phone sitting on the table and he picked it up. He tapped on Darci's name on his phone contact dialing her number.
Darci was at Saint Kelvin's hospital attending to one of her patients. It was an elderly man diagnosed with typhoid.
Darci moved from the patient as she heard her phone ringing. She grabbed it from the table and peered at the screen. She saw it was Jacob calling. She sighed and switched off the phone and she walked back to the patient.
Jacob moaned, "Darci..."
He flung his phone at the bed.
An image of him and Darci talking under the rain flashed through his mind and her words were echoed in his mind, "Your father is right. I am a huge distraction to you. You've gotta focus on your life, so you can be super successful and I don't wanna be a barrier. I'm sorry but, this is where our relationship ends."
He jolted out of his reflections and sighed, "no Darci, this is not where our relationship ends."
***It was quite a chilly and bleak morning the subsequent day***
Jacob walked out of the bathroom after bathing under the shower. He wrapped a towel on his waist. He was dripping wet.
He wiped himself up and pulled out a purple shirt from his wardrobe and a pair of blue jeans. He wore it on. He grabbed his car keys on the table, and he walked out of his bedroom. He swiveled his car from the parking lot and drove out of the mansion.
It was slightly raining, and it was quite breezy.
Jacob arrived at Darci's house. He parked his car by the gate and he got down from the car. He walked towards the gate, and stared up at the building.
The rain was dropping on him, and his hair was getting wet. He pushed the gate open and he walked in.
Darci was standing in front of the mirror in her bedroom combing her hair gently. She dropped the pink hair brush on the table and picked up her lipgloss. She was rubbing her lips and she heard a loud knock on the door.
"Darci!" Roella yelled out.
Darci walked to the door and she pulled it open. Roella walked in.
"Mum, what's up?"
"It's Jacob. He's here."
Darci was stunned and she got jittery.
Lao was talking with Jacob in the living room. "You can not come in. Darci is not home."
Jacob got restive. He tightly furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head. He said firmly, "no. I don't believe you. Darci is in there, I know."
"Why don't you just come back next time." Lao wore a firm look.
"Why should I when I know that she's in there?" Jacob yelled, "I saw Roella heading towards that direction. She must be in her room."
Jacob walked past him, and he was walking out of the living room.
Lao got furious, he screamed his name, "Jacob! Jacob!"
He tried to go after him, but Jacob had already exited the room.
Jacob was heading towards Darci's bedroom.
Roella was going out of Darci's bedroom and her heart throbbed seeing him approaching. She paused by the door and she turned to Darci and whispered to her, "it's Jacob."
Darci was quite shocked, "Jacob?"
Roella nodded, "yeah, he's almost here."
Jacob reached Darci's bedroom and Darci quickly shut the door immediately she spotted him.
Jacob knocked loudly on the door and Darci shook feeling quite confused about what to do.
"Why not open up and talk to him?" Roella whispered.
Darci shook her head and said quietly, "no mum."
Jacob got tired knocking and sighed.
"Even though you're not looking at me, I know you're hearing my voice. Darci, I wanna tell you that it's not okay ending this relationship."
Darci felt bad, and tears trickled down in streams from her eyes. She leaned over the door.
"Do not tear it apart. I love you, I love you and I won't tire fighting for you. I won't accept you leaving my life. I'm gonna go now. I'll be right outside if you wanna talk." His voice was cracking as he spoke.
Darci huffed and wiped her wet cheeks.
Jacob walked away from the door and approached outside.
Bea was seated in the living room of her mansion gulping fresh watermelons. Her legs were folded and laid on the table. She was staring at the TV screen watching the American movie, Home Alone.
She chuckled feeling quite amused.
Her phone bussed. It was lying besides her. She picked it up and saw that it was Henry calling and she picked up.
"Hello Hen?"
"Is Jacob home? I wanna speak with him." Henry sounded quite furious.
"Isn't he at the office?" Bea was quite confused.
"No he isn't."
"Then if he's not there, where is he?"
Jacob stood outside under the cold quite harsh rain staring at Darci's window.
Roella peeked through the curtains and she noticed him. She felt quite anxious and turned to Darci.
"Darci, won't you talk to him? He might catch a cold waiting for you."
Darci got apprehensive, she paced a bit and rubbed her palms, "In fifteen minutes from now, if he's still outside, he could crash into a fever."
She turned to Roella, "Mum, do you think that I don't wanna go to him or to hug him? I really wish to but, I need him to stop loving me."
"Your heart still yearns to be with him Darci so don't ignore him sweetie."
"I love him so much mum, " she sobbed, "but I don't want his dad to despise him because of me. I know the agony of losing a dear one, of a happy family being apart, so I can't do this. I'm still devastated that I lost my sister Vida and our parents in a fire. I'm sure that Jacob will start to miss his dad greatly when we end up together. His dad is gonna be distant from him, and he'll be hurt. I wouldn't want to ever see him hurt mum."
"Isn't he still hurt by you ditching him?" Roella argued.
Darci folded her arms and said firmly, "it's for the best."
