Chapter 19: Quirkless?

Toji walked to the courtyard, wearing the school's sports uniform. His relaxed gait contrasted with the attention he drew from the other students. "It suits you," Momo commented with a slight smile, trying to lighten the atmosphere.

"It looks like pajamas," Toji replied with annoyance, tugging at the fabric. "Just wearing it makes me feel sleepy."

Momo fidgeted at his comment, noticing how some curious glances were directed his way. "P-please, just endure it for a bit."

The students couldn't help but watch him. His physique was impressive, almost sculpted, something that stood out even more in an environment of his age group. Though they tried to hide it, some girls stole glances at him, whispering among themselves.

Noticing the stares, Toji smirked mockingly. "What are you looking at? Like what you see?"

Immediately, everyone averted their gaze, though a few students continued sneaking glances. Momo, noticing this, huffed and crossed her arms, annoyed.

Aizawa's voice broke through the atmosphere, catching everyone's attention. "I'll be conducting a test to better understand your quirks."

A murmur of surprise spread among the students.

"B-but what about the first-year ceremony?" Uraraka dared to ask, still confused by the sudden announcement.

Aizawa looked at her with his usual serious expression, though not hostile. "If you want to be heroes, you don't have time for that. U.A. is known for its hero training program, and we, the teachers in this section, have been given the freedom to teach as we see fit."

He pulled out his phone and began reading aloud: "Ball throw, long jump, 50-meter dash, endurance running, upper-body exercises, side-to-side jumps, squats. You all did these in school... but without using your quirks."

He paused, his gaze focusing on Toji. "Fushiguro, you achieved the highest score in the practical exam. What was your ball-throwing score in school?"

Toji, who seemed on the verge of falling asleep while standing, slowly looked up. "...I don't remember," he muttered, covering his mouth as he yawned.

Before Aizawa could press further, Momo interjected. "I-it was 87 meters, sensei."

The teacher raised an eyebrow. "Yaoyorozu, how do you know that?"

"We were classmates," she replied naturally.

Aizawa nodded and looked back at Toji. "Next time, answer yourself, Fushiguro. She won't always be around to speak for you... or will she?"

Momo pressed her lips together, holding back from saying she'd always be there if he wanted.

Toji shrugged indifferently. "Yeah, yeah, whatever."

Without wasting time, Aizawa tossed him a ball. "I want you to do it again, but this time, don't hold back. According to your file, you're quirkless, but I don't buy it. No one can do what you do, not even someone who dedicated their entire life to training their body."

The students looked at him in astonishment, processing the revelation. Izuku, in particular, felt his ideals falter.

"Huh? How boring," Toji groaned, eyeing the ball lazily.

"If you come in first in all the tests, I'll never give you an exam," Aizawa added calmly.

That caught Toji's attention, and he broke into a wide grin. "Now that's motivation, sensei."

With a spark of enthusiasm, Toji walked to the throwing point, starting to stretch his muscles. He carefully examined the ball's size and weight, mentally calculating the wind. "You want a good throw? Here's a good throw."

His muscles tensed, bulging impressively, and he threw the ball with such force that a shockwave shook the courtyard, forcing some to step back.

The ball ascended quickly, vanishing into the sky. The students gaped while Aizawa checked his phone screen. As I suspected, you're not normal, Aizawa thought. Finally, he revealed the result: 849.3 meters.

The astonishment was palpable. A red-haired student exclaimed, "A-amazing!"

Toji, however, didn't seem impressed with himself. "That low? Guess I'm not at my best," he muttered to himself.

Turning to Aizawa, he pointed a finger at him. "Don't back out on what you promised."

"If you take first place in all the tests, we'll see," Aizawa replied calmly.

The students began to buzz with excitement. Some couldn't believe what they'd just witnessed.

"That guy's quirkless? Not even his mom would believe that!" whispered a boy with a tail, loud enough for Toji to hear.

Toji turned abruptly, his expression hardening. "What did you say about my mom?" he growled, grabbing the boy by the collar of his uniform.

"So you think this is going to be fun, huh?" Aizawa interrupted, his cold voice drawing everyone's attention.

The group fell into complete silence, even Toji, who released the poor boy, now frantically trying to explain that he hadn't meant to insult him.

"Do you plan to spend three years here having fun?" Aizawa continued. "What happened to your purpose of becoming heroes? Fine, in that case, new rule: the person who comes in last in the overall test results will be labeled irredeemable and immediately expelled."

The words hit like a bucket of cold water for everyone. Toji, however, just scoffed and looked at Aizawa with a grin.

Like everyone else, Toji had to participate in the 50-meter dash. His opponent was a blonde with a fiery temper who kept glaring at him. "Do I know you?" Toji asked, frowning. There was something familiar yet annoyingly idiotic about the guy's face.

"Shut up, extra! I'll crush you!" yelled the blonde arrogantly.

Toji just rolled his eyes. "His quirk seems to be explosions... Probably from his palms, or maybe his whole body... Meh, not worth thinking too much about," he mused as he positioned himself at the starting line.

The whistle blew. Toji shot forward at full speed, leaving the blonde behind. Beside him, he heard a deafening shout: "DIE!"

He felt a burst of heat near him and quickly glanced to the side. "Yeah, definitely just his palms," he concluded, noticing the sparks in the guy's hands. Toji crossed the finish line in 2.9 seconds, while the blonde finished later with 4.13 seconds.

"Hey, you!" the blonde yelled, clearly furious. "How the hell can a quirkless guy like you beat me?"

Toji ignored him, calmly walking to the next test.

"I'm talking to you!" Bakugo insisted, but Toji didn't seem to care.

And so it went for all the tests: Toji dominated almost every category. Or so he thought.

When it was time for the ball throw, Ochako Uraraka tossed her ball into the air, activating her quirk. On the screen, the result displayed a single symbol: Infinity.

"What?!" Toji exclaimed, staring at the screen and then at Aizawa. "That's cheating!"

"No, it's not," his teacher replied calmly.

Toji turned his gaze to Uraraka, who shrank under the intensity of his glare. "You... You just stole my chance to slack off all year!"

"I'm sorry!" Uraraka cried, bowing quickly.

Toji raised a hand, ready to mess up her hair or worse, but Momo stopped him.

"Calm down! It's not her fault. Look at sensei," she said, holding his arm.

Toji growled but obeyed. He glanced back at Aizawa, who wore a smile that clearly enjoyed his student's frustration. "Tsk, damn bum," Toji muttered, crossing his arms.

When the tests were over, Toji couldn't help but be surprised by another participant: the green-haired boy.

"705.3?" he murmured, observing Izuku Midoriya's ball-throw result. "He could do that?"

"Apparently, but he injured his finger," Momo commented, pointing at the green-haired boy's hand.

"A quirk that damages your own body," she said quietly, thoughtfully.

"I'd say his body isn't adapted to outputting that kind of force," Toji added, sharing his thoughts with Momo.

In the side jump test, Toji suffered another loss, this time to Mineta, the boy with adhesive balls on his head.

"Little bastard..." he growled, glaring at the small boy, who trembled in fear.

Finally, Aizawa displayed the final results on the screen. Toji took first place, followed by Momo. The rest didn't matter to him.

"Tsk, second place in two tests," he muttered, annoyed.

Momo laughed softly. "Come on, at least you showed what you're capable of," she said, patting his back.

"By the way, the expulsion thing was a joke," Aizawa suddenly announced with a neutral expression.

Everyone was stunned by the revelation, especially Midoriya, who looked like his soul had just returned to his body.

"Of course it was fake!" Momo exclaimed, glaring at Aizawa.

"Really? I believed it too," Toji said, raising an eyebrow.

Aizawa ignored the comments and turned to Midoriya. "Take this to the infirmary," he said, handing him a paper. Then he looked at Toji. "You too, go with him."

"Huh? I'm fine," Toji replied, annoyed.

"It's to run some tests on you. Like I said, it's impossible for you to be quirkless."

Toji rolled his eyes, grabbed the paper, and walked away. "Whatever," he muttered, walking alongside the green-haired boy.
