Xanxier was only able to eat a small portion of his meal since Kale knelt and earnestly implored him to let him stay. Kale had to stand at the entrance to the dinning his back turned to him asking every time if he doesn't feel any discomfort.
It was the first time Xanxier would be forced into a position were he missed Daminas and wanted him to come and send Kale out. He wasn't able to eat with a peace of mind since he had to untie his veil and made sure not to make a slight noise that would send Kale turning to him in worry and seeing his face.
Xanxier sighed as he opened the door leading to his private study. He spotted two small boxes he requested placed on the floor,
He picked them up, one was labeled spies and the other was labeled slaves. He opened the one labeled slaves to see a thin cheap silver hair pin placed on top of a piece of clothing.
Xanxier face was impassive as he brought out the cloth to see it was a cheap dark brown material with poker dots of black on it, just like he predicted.
He was still inspecting the cloth when he heard someone yelling and it was getting closer. He slowly took his sit behind the table still holding the cloth as his eyes narrowed at the door.
"How dare you! who do you think you are?"
"Lord Vane his Majesty can't see you....."
"Shut your mouth and where is he!!!"
"Lord Vane...."
"I know he is here, Brother!..."
The door burst opened as it slammed on the wall to reveal Vane who walked in strides over to Xanxier and slammed his palm on the table.
Kale almost flew to the table to rescue the papers that were about to roll off as the table jolted. An ink bottle rolled and Kale fell on the floor and swiftly caught it with his feet, he scrambled on the floor and placed the papers on the table with the bottle of ink.
Fear was written all over Kale's face since he wasn't able to stop Vane and Xanxier could replace him for that, he quickly fall to his knees "Forgive me your Majesty for I...."
"Leave." Xanxier cut him off.
Kale didn't have to be told twice since he doesn't feel comfortable witnessing the brothers staring contest.
He bowed guilt written all over his face "Your Majesty." he quickly left looking dejected closing the door behind him.
Xanxier raised his brow at the one person that dares barge into his quarters.
"You! have been ignoring me since yesterday! You are what! oh... walking around covering your face with a veil pretending I am not here! You said there will be a feast to welcome me yesterday but what do I see..... oh... nada!." He sneered, his shoulders was trembling in rage and his face was red as a tomato. "I can't even pay a visit to the ministers! they are all what! acting busy.... and you are just seeing me after five years.... five whole years and you act like you don't care not once did write a letter to me or mother! tell me when last have you seen her! ten...? oh no its fifteen years! tell me what crime did we commit against you! each time I complains to her not once will she agree with me, tell me! which other family do you have!" He seethed breathing heavily as he clenched his fist.
Xanxier only rested his back looking like he wasn't bothered, he had expected Vane to come and see him but he was a little disappointed with how Vane was acting and yet he refused to see why he was angry. "An Assassin infiltrated the palace, someone killed a spy in the dungeon right here in this castle, do you know what that means?" He asked as he tapped his index finger on the table.
Vane face twisted in anger as it turned abnormally red, he was so angry at how calm Xanxier looked and how he seemed like he wasn't a bit concerned about his ranting. "What?"
"It seems the palace isn't safe, go home Vane." Xanxier deadpan.
All the coloured drained from Vane's face. "This is also my home!" He yelled and pointed his index finger accusingly at him. "You! can't tell me when to come and you! can't tell me when to leave Xanxier...." He yelled venom dripping in his voice as he slammed his hand once more on the table, the table jolted and the papers on it rolled and fell on the floor. The ink bottle rolled and shattered on the floor, ink splashed on Vane's boot and Xanxier glance to see the tip of of his robes were getting soaked in the ink.
It was the first time Xanxier heard Vane called his name and he could see Vane couldn't be reason with. He didn't say a word, he only stood up and walked out leaving a fuming Vane. He still had a lot to deal with and he refused to include a fuming Vane being part of it. The least he could do was to overlook him disrespecting him and leave him to calm down.
He walked to his chamber and almost spit out blood when he heard heavy angry footsteps on his trail. A strong sweet aroma assaulted his nose making him stop on his track before taking a step to the entrance of his bedroom.
Two women were standing by his bed post. There cloth were too revealing, it shows their cleavage and long smooth necks and flawless shoulders, their stomach were so smooth and flawless, their robes parted at the front to show there smooth long legs and thighs, they wore makeup, their dark hair beautifully made and their perfume filled the whole room. They were beautiful but not like a certain girl called Kamigani. Xanxier mentally shook the thought off as he waited for an explanation.
"Your Majesty." They said seductively.
"Do you lost your way?"
"No they don't." Vane snapped behind him.
Xanxier turned to Vane his blue eyes turning sharp and cold as he raised a brow. "Uhn?"
"I brought them from Trenor to help you loosen your muscles." he said sarcastically as he rolled his eyes folding his arms in front of him. "You should be grateful for things I do for you brother." He pointed out.
"Get out!" Xanxier almost yelled refusing to lose his cool as he turned to glare dangerously at the women who were now loosening their cloths.
"Brother....."
"Get out!" He repeated and they jolted pulling their cloth to cover themselves avoiding to look into the cold blue eyes, they almost tumbled as they rushed out in shame.
"So its true you don't like women. " Vane said scornfully. "Is it men you like?"
Xanxier turned sharply to Vane. "See yourself out." He stated firmly with no room for argument.
Vane wanted to talk only to almost shiver at the murderous aura coming from Xanxier. His eyes was so cold like he dares him to challenge him. "Are you sending me out?" He asked stubbornly as he averted his gaze.
Xanxier didn't say a word and Vane met his gaze only for him to regret doing so since Xanxier's gaze as turned so cold he knows if they were not related his head would had been rolling on the floor.
Vane turned and Xanxier could swore he heard him hissed as the sounds of his boot faded away.
Xanxier walked to his bed, the fragrance still lingered in the room. It was quite a familiar strong pleasant smell but it was suffocating him and only brings him bad memories he thought he had tucked deep in his memory. He opened the windows wide as fresh air rushed in before taking out the cloth in his drawer to compare with the one he was holding it was clearly the same material. He could even see where it was torn off and it matched the one he was holding. He dumped the cloth in his drawer knowing he had to address the issue as soon as possible.
