They finally arrived at Velvenfiel.
Grace hopped out of the carriage followed by Casey and then Cole. As soon as they got off the carriage Grace was surrounded by guards. Casey guessed that the nation was in anarchy after the attack on the princess.
The soldiers were urging her to set for the castle but she pushed through them and got back to Casey. She then said that she would give Casey a prize for saving her and that it was the least she could do. Casey happily accepted and went with Grace back to the castle.
When they arrived at the castle they entered the throne room and Grace was rushed by her parents both of whom started to hug her tightly. This was surprising to Casey who expected them to be emotionless snobs who could care less about what happens to their daughter.
Casey didn't like royals and blamed them for his mother's death. He believed the royals were lazy and the army consisted of incompetent people who could never fulfill the mantle of a soldier but Blake, Cole, and Grace had shown him that he might've been wrong and the King and Queen's affection for their daughter reassured him. He thought the royals must have a dysfunctional family but he was the last person who should be judging someone's family.
A soldier escorted him to a separate room and told Casey to wait as he would have an audience with the King.
He looked around the room. His eyes were blinded by the amount of light in the room which was amplified since almost everything in the room was made of gold. The room probably cost more than his life he thought as he sat on the gigantic bed.
A few minutes later another guard walked inside and escorted him to the throne room. In front of him were the King and queen and he instinctively bowed before them. There were multiple nobles in the room and the King and queen sat on their thrones on an elevated plain.
A man standing next to the King spoke up. He said, "The King is very thankful to you for saving his daughter. Her death would have been tragic for the King and Queen and they show their deepest gratitude. To thank you the King has gifted you with a mansion right here in Velvenfiel and has granted you the title of baron."
Everyone in the room was shocked except Casey who grinned. He was ranking up in this world and he was closer to the first part of his mission. Casey then said, "if you don't mind your majesty I have a request".
The nobles started whispering amongst themselves stating how greedy he is as the King is giving him so much and yet he is still not content with it.
The King whispered something to the man next to him and he relayed saying, "Your majesty says he will provide you with anything, and still he would not be able to repay what you have done for him".
Casey then said, "I would appreciate it if you could let me go to Cerus with a 100% scholarship". The room fell silent.
Cerus was one of the oldest schools in the world and a renowned one at that. It was one of if not the top school in the world and was renowned for teaching magic. It was the birthplace of many prodigies but the only problem was that the requirement to join was very high and only nobles or royals were allowed to attend it.
The King whispered to the man next to him again and he relayed, " The King says that he will accept this but on one condition. The reputation of the school will be tarnished if a nobody joins the school so the condition is that if you can pass the three entrance tests then you will be able to join and the King will pay for any expenses through your time in that school which includes some outside the school."
Casey then said, "I thank you your majesty and I will not let you down." With that, he bowed again and then was escorted by soldiers to his mansion.
This was it, 2 months till the entrance exam. Casey was ready and pumped, his academy life was just about to start.
