You can't play God

Tara suddenly found herself in a dark room with a dim source of light. It reminded her of the room she shares with Lakan which was always poorly lit. Lakan did not enjoy being in well-lighted rooms he even proposed that they stay in different rooms but Tara had to adjust to his kind of person. She had wondered why he seem to be scared of bright lights but she had never questioned him.

But this time the case was different even with other parts of the room not properly lit there was a bright source of light centered in a corner of the room and she could see the figure of a man dressed in all white sitting on a chair. Fear gripped her when she thought she had returned to her normal life and that the life she just experienced was a dream for the chair had was sitting on was Lakan's favorite chair in the room. Whenever he had a business to take care of he would sit down there sipping from The Skull gradually. She was sure of one thing Lakan would not be sitting under such a bright light as every other place was dark.

She took a few steps to have a proper look at the person before her and to her surprise, she saw her late grandfather with a smile on his face. She was fifteen years when he died so she could still remember his face. She had cried her eyes out when she heard of his death. He was the only one from her father's family that was kind to her. He always said that the weak could become strong if they choose to. He was the only one who believed that Tara would one day change.

"Grandfather? She called out with a confused expression on her face

" Yes, my sweet little child the season has already come. The time for you to be strong " he replied with a broader smile on his face this time.

"What is happening? She asked in to hope to get a proper explanation for what she was experiencing seeing him sent a sense of relief to her but didn't completely take away the anxiety.

" Do not be afraid neither should you be confused. Right now you are having a dream and the life you just experience is your new reality. I watched from the spirit realm how our family was killed by the Blackwaters. From here I could do nothing to help. When you desperately prayed for a second chance it was only then I was able to manipulate the realms to give you a chance to help our family. But you must be careful, everything has its consequences, there is a limit to the things you can remember in this new life and there is a limit to the things you can alter. "

" Grandfather I don't understand what you are saying to me.

" Some things are better left untouched and unsaid. You should not play God. The fact you have experienced some things doesn't mean you should change all of them that you don't like. Remember, the primary reason you were given this second chance. Any other thing outside that reason and you may find yourself back to the very moment you came from.

Without waiting for a response from her everywhere completely went dark and he was gone.

Just before she could think of what just happened the light came back as before with someone sitting on a chair in front of her. She made to call out for her grandfather when she noticed he wasn't the one sitting there this time. Although they had similar features, both were old and clothed in white. But the old man in front of her this time had a deep frown on his face. She moved closer to have a better look at him and she could swear he looked familiar but she couldn't place where she had seen the face.

"You would be wasting your time if you think you can prevent the Blackwaters from killing your family. Anything you do would lead fo that same moment. Even if it may appear in a different setting but the end will still be you standing over the dead bodies of your family members. You cannot save anybody instead you will lose your life trying to help them"

The man before her kept saying unkind and fearful words to her till she could no longer bear it.

"Stop it, who are you? She screamed holding her ears to prevent herself from hearing anything by this time fear had completely gripped her and she was sweating profusely.

" some things are better left unsaid and untouched " He replied with a wicked smile across his face this time

"Accept and learn to leave with your fate" he stated before darkness overtook the whole room again.

This time Tara woke up immediately, her body soaked with sweat and her heart rate beating rapidly. A look at her wall clock told her it was just 3 am and she had barely slept considering she slept off around 2 am. How could she have dreamt for so long in such a little time She thought of the two scenes that played out in her dream. She wondered who was the second old man and why he looks familiar to her. They both made a sentence that was troubling her greatly.

"Some things are better left unsaid or untouched "

How was she to know the exact things they were talking about? What are the things she should never try to change? Her Grandfather's message was clear and laced with nice words but that of the second man was still her major source of concern.

Her source of joy at the moment was that she has been able to confirm it was not a dream and that everything she experienced truly happened. A second chance is what she has been given and she intends to use it very well. The marriage will go on as planned but she vowed not to be bullied in her marriage by anyone.
