"Nothing of such will happen " She heard a voice reply to her from outside the door as the door also gave way to reveal her father Mr. Lockwoods standing outside with a deep frown on his face.
"Father, please...
" The moment I saw you this morning I know you are up to something, that is why I followed both of you. I heard everything but I can assure you that I am not convinced. You have just cooked up lies" Her father said with a tone of anger in his voice.
"Darling please we need to listen to her and.
" And what? Mr. Lockwood asked shutting his wife off
"How do I tell the Blackwaters that I am cutting off the marriage just because my daughter had a dream? That is very ridiculous that would be giving the Blackwaters a reason to wipe us all out. After all the publicity we have made about this marriage. We will be bringing shame to them and giving them a reason to start a war with us" Mr. Lockwood explained to them.
Tara reasoned what he had just said. He was speaking the truth, breaking the marriage at this stage will only be giving them a reason to fight and if it was a dream maybe it was this very reason it was trying to warn her about. She has heard her mother say sometimes our dreams don't come to pass in the same way that they occurred. Maybe this was the case, maybe the deaths didn't occur after they married but occurred because she refused to be married.
Tara held her head in pain as the bangs in her head began again. Since she woke up it was the third time she was having this trouble. It was the same pain she felt before she blackout.
"You have five minutes to come out of your room. The handing over of your right to this family business to your cousin Brown will take place. Her father informed her as he made to leave her room
" Even if you are correct about your dream of whatever you call this, don't you think calling off the marriage is what a weak person would do? Well, I am not surprised" He added as he left the room leaving Tara and her mother speechless.
This incident had made her briefly forget how much her father didn't like her. He disliked her for coming out as a girl and for being weak. But he was right about something whatever this is calling off the marriage will be a weak's person approach and she no longer wants to be regarded as weak. She remembers it was one of the reasons Lakan listed for not giving his heart to her.
"You heard your father, you have some documents to sign this morning" her mother reminded her looking with pity.
"What documents? Tara replied as she had paid little attention to the words of her father after he reminded her of how weak she was. It was the only thing ringing in her head.
" You will be handing over your right to our family business to your cousin brother Brown. It was what you wanted and your father has said you will do it before you get married so the Blackwaters cannot lay any claim to it " Her mother explained to her as she wondered how come she has forgotten so many things.
" Did father agree to do this easily? Tara asked knowing it must have been a difficult decision
"No it wasn't an easy decision for him but he had no choice since you were not ready to make use of your rights. Also because he thinks you are weak. Her mother replied saying the last word reluctantly.
That word again. Tara reasoned as a new surge of anger crept into her body.
"Since I won't be getting what I want, no one
will be getting what they want too " she blurted storming out of the room straight to her father's study room. She didn't know why she was heading there but as she walked down she began to remember that she had done something like this before her marriage and that was where the papers were signed. Her mother was following her closely from behind trying to keep up with her. It was a rare thing to see Tara upset so she went along to ensure she would not do anything stupid.
Tara paused briefly to analyze what was happening. Everything was beginning to come back to her. This was not a dream, everything happened.
She started again determined this time to look for every sign to convince herself that she was not dreaming. She opened the door without knocking revealing Her father Mr. Lockwood, her uncle Tony and his son Brown. They were all seated waiting.
She didn't even border to exchange pleasantries with them as she headed straight to the seat reserved for her. Her mother stood outside waiting for her husband to signal her inside and he did.
"What is with this rude attitude of yours? You entered here without knocking and can't even acknowledge the presence of your uncle and your cousin. What is wrong with you? Her father asked looking upset and surprised too. Tara was always well-behaved and calm.
Tara already made some calculations in her head and was looking out for them. First, she predicted her uncle Tony would be in the room along with his son Brown all dressed in Grey suits and she was surprised to see that it was so. She was paying little attention to her father scolding her right now.
"I am sorry father, Uncle Tony I am sorry too but I don't think I will be handing over my rights again. I want to keep them and I want to run the family business " Tara informed them looking at their shocked faces. She knew they were not expecting such a reply and she had no idea how she would do it but this time she was determined not to be considered weak
