Prologue - Ordinary Day

Walking out in the humid streets, was a plain-looking young man who just graduated this summer, with black hair and eyes, average height - not short but not tall.

What made him somewhat stand out, was that he was wearing a dark red jacket, over his black shirt, hooded underneath the sunlight.

Before taking it off he stepped into the mall, feeling the cool breeze that the air conditioner provided.

'Ahh, why couldn't it be cloudy or windy today.'

He complained in his mind as he rushed into the mall, using the escalators to move upwards and stopping right at the third floor, in front of a game store.

He was going to celebrate his 18th birthday by buying the new Full Dive VR set.

'The past few weeks Its always been sold out, how about this time?'

He saw one person come out of the store with the VR set, he immediately entered inside.

"Do you still have any stocks of the VR set?" He stared at the store clerk, catching his breath while leaning onto the counter.

"We've just run out-"

"Damnit!" He let out a long sigh, before walking back out and heading to another place where the VR set was being sold too.

'Come on Birthday luck.' He clenched his hand into a fist as he fast walked to the department store.

"Are there still any VR sets?" He swiftly asked once he saw a store staff.

"Uh, yeah there is still a few more I think, just over there." She pointed out where it was, though he already knew where they had them stocked.

"Thanks!" He hastily said before jogging his way there, time is of the essence, he can't just walk, or else he'd never forgive himself if there was nothing left.

Thankfully, on one of the shelves, there it was, the mythical Full Dive VR set always seen in fiction, right in front of him in reality.

'Finally! I HAVE IT!' He placed his hand onto the side, grinning to himself, but he immediately froze seeing another hand on the other side.

Turning to his competition, was a beauty with dark raven-black hair with a tint of blue on the ends, and a blue and white cold shoulder top.

The two opposites stood there, wide eyes, but in the next second the girl was the first one to react with fierce eyes.

"I got to it first." She spoke in a cold demanding tone.

He snapped out of it, his thoughts of peacefully acquiring the VR set gone as he gave an equally fierce look.

"No, I did." He didn't know who got to it first, earlier his gaze stared at the VR set like it was the only thing in the world or a heavenly artifact that he'd only get a chance of seeing in a lifetime.

The girl narrowed her eyes, and he did the same back, she grasped the box with two hands, and so did he.

They truly began fighting for it, yelling and shouting more reasons, in short, it was all about - I deserve to have this and not you!

"It's my birthday today, can't you just wait for another week?" He pulled it back to his side, struggling to fully take it.

"Oh? What a coincidence, it's also my birthday today!" She scoffs and pulled it back over to her side.

"Huh? What!? You're lying!" He pulled it over to his side, gritting his teeth.

"Like you aren't either!" She pulled it back.

'Why is she so damn strong!? Or maybe... Am I weak?' Having this realization, he was going to get some exercise after - if he loses.

"Alright... How about this, we do this auction style and bid on it huh?" The girl offered an idea as she stopped pulling, but she didn't let go of it of course.

"Nnn... Fine, you're on." Just as they were about to start, something happened that made them both freeze again.

A digital screen in the air, and the lights flickering before changing the light it produced to be red.
