Ch 209: Didn't Wanna Be Here

Over the days, things mellowed between Kai and me. Mostly, I avoided him by hanging out with Nora. Tuesday through Thursday, we worked on our assignment because it had to be turned in this Friday. Which is today.

Together, we did that, and then Nora and I sat together in Mrs. Nasberry's class to hear today's hour lecture.

"Let that be a wrap, I shall see you all Monday," Mrs. Nasberry finished her class and everybody collected their things.

"Nora and Victoria, before you go, I'd like to have a word with you both," Mrs. Nasberry announced before Nora and I had any chance to leave the room. So I closed the door and we went over and looked at her wrinkly face. Yet, it was nothing more than a disguise to hide her real beauty as a vampiress.

"I must say you girls topped the class with your assignment," Mrs. Nasberry complimented with a smile on her wrinkled dull lips.

Nora and I took a relaxed breath. She was a tough professor. So it's hard to say what she'd approve as perfection.

"Thank you, Professor!" Nora and I said at the same time.

"I expect you both to do magnificently in my class," Mrs. Nasberry said and then dismissed us when we gave our consent that we would work hard.

We left her class and everybody waiting rushed in like a herd of elephants.

"It's been nice working with you," Nora told me nervously once we walked outside.

"We made a good team," I said, but noticed she seemed sad.

"Well, I guess I'll be seeing you around since we won't be working together anymore," Nora frowned with this saddened face, but I smiled at her.

"Keep my number, we can study together and get coffee anytime if you like," I offered my friendship because I knew she felt unwanted.

She dressed so differently that many people looked past her which was wrong of them.

"Yes, I'd love to!" Nora chippered, excitedly.

"I'll see you, Monday Nora," I said, waving her goodbye. I felt good in my heart to keep such a good friend. We parted ways and then I attended my next classes.

For my last class, I felt uncomfortable because Crystal kept looking at me from this angled seat two rows below me. Finally, the Professor concluded his class. I gathered my belongings and waved goodbye to my favorite professor. He gave me an odd stare since we usually talk after class, but I needed to get out of there.

"Victoria, wait!" Just as I feared, Crystal's voice shouts behind me outside. "Victoria, would you stop!"

Out of breath and puffing, she caught up to me and pulled me aside to this tree.

"You know I can't talk to you," I told her and scrutinized my eyes to see if I spotted Kai or his guardians anywhere.

"Orlando told me you're pregnant with Kai's baby," Crystal brought this up and I wasn't comfortable about it.

"I don't wanna talk about it," I firmly said.

She shuffled in front of me when I tried to move. "Just come back with me and my mom can give you an abortion," Crystal told me and I was appalled by it.

"I already told you I'd never do that to my baby!" I gritted.

"If Kai's holding this baby over your head. Then you should set yourself free and get rid of his baby. Orlando and you can have a family together," She declared and I only got more upset.

"What has gotten into you!" I snarled as a few people stared at us. "First, you lied to me about Kai coming to see me at the hospital, and now you dare tell me to kill my baby!"

Regardless if she doesn't know my baby is immortal, it's still wrong in my eyes.

"I know I was wrong to lie to you, but I was scared he'd try to take you again," Crystal justifies. "I only say to abort the baby so you don't feel threatened to be with Kai."

"I could never do such a thing!" I snapped. "You just don't get it! None of you get it!"

I broke and said more than I should've. "Victoria, you're scaring me. I'm afraid for you, what had Kai done to make you behave like that? Just tell me, please let me help you," Crystal pleaded.

"I'm sorry," I said and sprint away as fast as my legs could carry me. I found my car and drove off to the mansion. I went to the bedroom and cried my eyes out, till I couldn't cry anymore.

Night rolled in and Kai appeared in front of the tv, I was watching.

He switched it off and asked. "Are you ready to go?"

"Go where?" I asked a bit wary to see his eyes were red and darkly narrowed at me.

"I need to show you something. You have ten minutes to get ready," he told me.

So I stood from the couch to get my stuff and then entered the bathroom. I put on fresh makeup to hide the fact that I'd been crying for hours. Then I brushed my hair and put on a pair of dark jeans, and wore a nice woman's gothic trench coat, over my cute black corset top. I made myself look rich and elegant.

I met Kai a few feet from the door. He reached for my hand and I expected we'd stroll out of the room together. However, that was far from what happened when he pushed me to his chest. The next thing, I knew we landed in this isolated enclosure and the whole place was extremely noisy. Bass from this music played too boisterously. I looked around and saw we were in another dance club.

'Ya, just where I wanted to be!' I say sarcastically in my head.

I was dressed to go on a decent dinner date with him to a restaurant but wasn't dressed to be at a stupid club.

"Take me home!" I shout over the music.

"I'll take you somewhere nicer once I prove something to you," Kai replied, hearable enough over the music.

Then he took my hand and led me between crowds of people. He pulled me off to the side where it showed a good view of people dancing and doing whatever else together.

"What are you trying to prove?" I asked and Kai pointed with his chin.

"Look and you'll be sure to see what I am seeing," he told me like this was some kinda riddle.

So I played along and looked out to the left and right. Still, I saw nothing until a few people moved aside from ahead of us. Anything left in my heart was likely incinerated. I bite my lip and shake Kai's hand off mine.
