Chapter 18
As panic swept across the planet in the wake of the disaster at the White House, speculation ran rampant online as people sought to make sense of the chaos unfolding before them.
With no official word from the US government about the true cause of the attack, conspiracy theories and wild speculation flooded, filling the void left by the absence of concrete information.
Among the theories circulating on the internet, some claimed that the attack was the result of divine punishment, a retribution from the gods for humanity's perceived sins and wrong doings.
Religious cults and organizations seized upon the opportunity to spread their message of fear and obedience, warning that the end times were upon them and that only those who repented would be spared from further wrath.
Many citizens in America and other countries were terrified as they received the news.
It did not help to calm the media when they broadcasted the attack that happened in the White House lawn filmed by a bystander.
It wasn't clear due to the wind and storm but they could clearly see a metal giant shooting out beams from his head and destroying buildings houses and vehicles.
Others speculated that the attack was the work of extraterrestrial beings, similar to the invasion of New York.
With memories of the Chitauri invasion still fresh in their minds, many feared that Earth was once again under threat from hostile forces beyond the stars, and that the events at the White House were just the beginning of something much larger.
In the absence of any official statement from the US government, rumours spread like wildfire, fuelled by fear and uncertainty.
Some said that this was an experiment that had gone wrong and the government was trying to cover it up.
while others pointed fingers at the enemies of the United States of America and criminal organizations that are attempting for power and control.
As the days passed and the true nature of the attack remained shrouded in mystery, the internet became a breeding ground for speculation and paranoia.
Conspiracy theorists and armchair detectives dissected every detail of the incident, searching for clues and hidden meanings in an attempt to unravel the truth behind the chaos that had gripped the world.
At the SHIELD's helicarrier it was the day Captain America and Ironman came back from their coma.
As Captain America and Ironman regained consciousness on the SHIELD's helicarrier, they found themselves in a state of disorientation, their thoughts sluggish and their bodies weak from the ordeal they had endured.
It took them some time to gather their bearings and fully comprehend their surroundings, the memories of the battle at the White House slowly coming back to them in disjointed fragments.
"Oh I'm having a bad headache" Tony stark said in his bed.
Captain America just looked up to the ceiling without saying anything.
Once they had rested and regained some strength, they were transferred to a special unit equipped with advanced medical equipment to monitor their vitals and aid in their recovery.
Both men were confined to their beds, their injuries too severe to allow them to move freely.
"At least they gave us a TV." Tony said.
"Yeah sure" captain Rogers replied.
He was a little dis located from the world after the battle with the destroyer. He needed some time to handle the issue. So he was spacing out a little.
Captain America lay on his back, his upper body encased in plaster to support his broken arm and ribs, while Ironman grimaced in pain from the third-degree burns that marred his once perfect body.
"Hey Caps that was really one of my hardest and worst fights I ever had, What about you?" Tony stark asked.
"Yeah, that fight was the hardest and the worst fights I ever had and I have piloted a plane with bombs straight to the sea, but I never felt so powerless." Captain America said with a mixture of disappointment and sadness.
As they lay in their beds, surrounded by the hum of machinery and the steady beep of monitoring equipment.
Fury and the rest of the Avengers were walking towards the room where Tony Stark and Captain Rogers were resting.
As Fury and his team entered the room where Captain America and Ironman were resting, the atmosphere was tense.
Hawkeye and Black Widow followed behind Fury with their expression tensed.
Agent Maria Hill followed closely behind, her tablet in hand, ready to take notes about the battle that happened at Washington DC.
Fury wasted no time in getting to the heart of the matter, he enquired about the battle they had at the white House lawn.
Tony Stark and Captain America exchanged a somber glance before recounting their experience.
Captain America said in detail how they had been overwhelmed by the sheer power and ferocity of the metal giant.
Tony furrowed his brow as he listened, his mind racing with questions about the origin of the weapon. "Do we have any leads on where this thing came from?" he asked, his tone laced with curiosity.
He was interested in the material that used to make that Armor.
Fury leaned forward, with a serious expression.
he shared his theory with the group. "Based on the energy signature of the beam that transported the weapon away, I believe it may have been sent here by Thor himself," he explained, his words hanging heavy in the air.
"Why would he send something like that to Earth?" Captain America asked.
"The real question you should ask is, Is there other weapons like this giant in his collection, if there is we have a real problem." Fury said.
Captain America's brow furrowed in concern as he took in Fury's new thought. "And what happened after we were taken down?" he inquired.
Fury sighed heavily," It was teleported away by a beam of light from the skies, much like how Thor and Loki disappeared from our sight," he revealed, his tone grim. "And to make matters worse, Loki's Scepter was also taken from SHIELD during the chaos."
"What, did he really take it?" Tony asked.
"Yes, the news is from a trusted source. It's from Alexander Pierce's trust worthy person in the organisation."
As the gravity of the situation sunk in, the group fell into silence.
After a moment, Fury cleared his throat, breaking the silence as he addressed the room. "We'll need to stay vigilant in the days ahead," he declared, his voice firm. "We can't afford to let our guard down, not when there are still so many unanswered questions and threats looming on the horizon."
With that, the meeting concluded, and Fury and his team departed, leaving Tony Stark and Captain America to rest and recover from their injuries.
