They call her Ace

They call her Ace, that's only because no one knows her real name. She runs this city as the Raingate Mafia leader. A cold-hearted killing machine that lives a lavish life, but who was she before this life of crime? To her it didn't matter who she used to be. That girl was long gone, but little did she know that someone from her past will remind her of who she really is. ------------------------ She froze not because the man was handsome. No, it wasn't that. Many handsome men walked into her life, but there was a reason that Ace stopped in her tracks for this one. It wasn't the breathtaking smile or the gorgeous hair. It was because she knew him.   She didn't know him in this life. No, she knew him in another life. A life that she had tried her best to forget. A life where she wasn't Ace. A life where she had people that she loved and cared about. A life where she didn't kill men and where she didn't live in an extravagant mansion with butlers and maids to do as she directed.   Ace was frozen. Her heart had stopped. How did he find her? ------------------ ----- ------- ------ Cover artist: Roxanne Jane black insta: Roxanne.janeblack

Let him walk

"I'm not going to work for you." Vincent pushed Ace's hands off of his body.

"Oh, yes you are. You'll get paid graciously and the benefits from working with me are amazing."

"You are a criminal. I don't want anything to do with you."

"I'm making you an amazing offer, Mr.Love. Or I could just end your life right now-"

"Then do it. It'd be easier. If I were to work with you, I promise you that I'd wait to get enough evidence to turn you in. I will put you behind bars."

Ace fake sighed and then shrugged, "You got me there Vincent. I'm not going to kill you. I wouldn't give you the pleasure of death. You have nothing to live for so why put you out your misery when I can get something out of you?"

"I will not-"

Ace cut him off, "I'll give you time to think about it."

Vincent squinted his eyes. He wanted to say something but he felt someone grab his arm. He turned around and saw four guards standing behind him.

"Think about it. In the meantime we'll be keeping our eyes on you."

Vincent's mind went blank as he got escorted by Ace's guards. When he finally got into his car he started it up and slowly started to pull off, his mind still blank.

"What the hell just happened?" Vincent whispered to himself.

--------------------------------------------

"Madame, may I ask you a question?" Scully was flipping through Vincent's info folder while a maid poured Ace another cup of tea.

"Yes Scully?"

"Why didn't you kill him? Why make a deal with him when you already have ties with actual cops? Ones who aren't suspended and um... useless."

Ace answered without expression, "There was no reason to kill him. He's no threat at the moment and there's no benefit in his death."

"Okay then why make a deal with him?"

"He's a detective. A detective that's obsessed with taking me down."

"Don't tell me you think he can actually accomplish taking you down." Scully raised an eyebrow.

"I know you remember the last time that this family underestimated a detective. It's best to get him on our side at his weak point."

Scully nodded and they continued to sit in silence.

Two weeks went by and Ace felt that she finally had everything under control. Gonzalo had told her that they found out a few more of Chen's men were involved with the missing merchandise from two weeks ago.

Ace got into her limo and sat there calmly as her and her guards made their way to an abandoned warehouse. She wanted to put an end to this back and forth thing that she had going on with Chen. He was becoming a thorn in her side and she wasn't going to deal with it anymore.

Ace stepped out the limo and looked around at the trees surrounding the broken down warehouse. She sighed and her guards followed her as she made her way inside.

"AHHHHHH! Ahg- *cough* *cough*" Ace walked in and heard a defining scream from a man. She made her way to the back of the warehouse where Gonzalo had two men strung up from the ceiling. Ace had no reaction to their blood covered bodies and did not flinch as Gonzalo ripped a tooth from one of their mouths with pliers. He screeched in pain.

"What do you have so far?"

Gonzalo shook his head, "Nothing, boss. They won't say anything." He tossed the pliers on the table and crosses his bloody arms.

The man on the left laughed as he spit out blood. He flashed a bloody grin and looked at Ace. She took her sunglasses off and made her way towards him,

"You think this is funny?"

"I think it's hilarious."

Ace nodded and took a knife from the table of torture tools, "Thanks for getting them warmed up for me Gonzalo."

Ace traced the knife from his neck all the way down the middle of his torso and looked at him with her cold eyes, "How about you tell me where Chen is or I gut you like the pig you are."

The man spoke through his teeth, "Gut me. Do it. You're going to kill me either way. I'm going to tell you like I've been telling that fat guy over there. I'm not saying a damn word."

"Oh I'm going to get what I want out of you one way or another."

The man on the right looked at their interaction and stared at Ace in fear. Ace noticed this and made her way over to him. She looked him up and down and furrowed her eyebrows,

"You look a little young to be running around in the crime world. how old are you kid?"

He looked around and blinked a couple of times. He didn't know if he should answer or not, "Ni-nineteen."

"Wow. Nineteen. I remember when I was that age. You still have your whole life ahead of you." Ace tilted her head as she studied the man. He nodded his head in agreement vigorously.

"Well how about you tell me where Chen is and I'll let you walk."

"No! Don't do it-" The man tried to warn his friend but got interrupted. In one quick movement Ace slit the man of the left's throat and blood poured down his body. She then wiped the blood off on the other hostage's arm. Gonzalo coughed at the sudden action that Ace took and turned to look away.

"Unless, of course, you wanna end up like your friend here. So I'm going to ask you once and I won't ask you again. Where is Chen?" Ace traced the bloody knife across his cheek and his eyes grew wide,

"H-he has a meeting this Friday! A few important people from China and Europe are supposed to be meeting him. I don't know what they're supposed to be talking about or what they're planning! I just know that they're going to be meeting in Jinx Casino! I don't know anything else! I swear!" The man spoke quickly and Ace could see his jaw tremble.

She nodded and signaled for her men to come take him down from the ropes. Tears filled his eyes as he finally reached the ground. He looked up at Ace, "thank you! Thank you so much!" He stood up and started to walk towards the exit.

Ace waited for him to get to the door before she pulled the gun off of Gonzalo's hip and aimed it at the man. The sound of the gun echoed through the warehouse and the hostage's body dropped dead. Blood began to seep from his chest.

"I...I thought you said you were going to let him walk!" Gonzalo's chubby tan face turned pale as he looked at the dead man on the ground.

"I did let him walk. He walked to the exit." Ace replied nonchalantly and handed the gun back to Gonzalo. "Take care of this. I want it to look like we were never here."

Ace said nothing else, but her guards followed her out of the warehouse and opened the limo door for her. Ace rolled her eyes as she took a handkerchief from one of them and wiped her bloody hand off. As soon as she finished, her phone binged.

-------------------------------------------------------

Chris: Hey.

-------------------------------------------------------

Ace groaned. Why did he have to text her now? She decided to leave him on read.

"You've been staring at your phone for the past thirty minutes. What's wrong with you?" Grayson grabbed the orange juice from the fridge and gulped it down straight from the carton.

Christopher was sitting at the counter staring at his phone, "I'm waiting."

"For?" Grayson replied as he aimed for the trash can and shot the carton like it was a basketball.

"I-...It's none of your business." Christopher spoke quietly and didn't take his eyes off his phone.

Grayson squinted at him and thought for a second. He realized something, smirked, and slowly walked over to Christopher before grabbing his phone off the counter.

"What are you doing!?" Christopher tried to reach for it but Grayson pulled back. He unlocked his phone and immediately checked his messages.

"Dang bro. That's sad. Delivered for thirty-two minutes? Tell me how it feels because I wouldn't know. And her name in your phone is future wife with two red hearts? You are so lame." He tilted his head back and laughed. Christopher snatched his phone back and stared at the message.

"Grow up Grayson. I'm not waiting for some girl to text me back. We're not kids. I'm waiting for a um...important email about the renovations of the police station! And plus I'm sure she's just busy....or something."

"She's not busy. She's ignoring you."

"Why would she be ignoring me? On our date she seemed so interested in me.... I don't understand. How can she say that she never wants to see me again, but then ask me on another date, but THEN not text me for two weeks straight."

"I don't know. Women are confusing." Grayson shrugged, "Hey, did you get that information on her that you asked your resources for?"

Christopher scrolled through his email and clicked on a message, "Actually...I just did."

Ace was sitting on her couch with a glass of red wine, scrolling through the news on her phone. Her hair was tied up into a neat bun and she had nothing on but her silk robe. She finally got her hands on Chen's location. She tried to get it from others, but it seemed like people were too scared of Chen to cross him.

Ace clicked on her messages and stared at Christopher's message for a few seconds before she heard someone come through the door. The guard that watches the entrance came in and walked into the living room.

"Sorry to bother you madame! Someone is at the front gate and claims they have to see you now. He made it clear that he had to see you right now."

Ace raised an eyebrow and sipped her wine, "Who?"

The guard halted for a second and scratched the back of his neck, "He um....claims to be Christopher Greens..?"

Ace's eyes grew wide and she immediately put her glass of wine down. 'How did he find my house?'
