“You never do it. You never widen your eyes like he did either.”
“Ghurva is special.”
“Special as in…” Carlo’s eyebrows almost disappeared into his hair.
“More of his emotional responses remain. The rest of us, most of us, have lost them. Ghurva reacts.”
“Lost them? You don’t…feel?”
The wide eyes and slack jaw were hard to understand so Zenon ignored it. “I experience some responses. More than some, more than most females. Negudade males have more emotional reactions than the females do.”
Carlo dropped the cover on the floor and stared at him. A shiver worked its way through his body while Zenon studied him. He’d seen him naked before, in the shower, but now the bed light was on, and the soft glow danced over his skin. He was darker than Grace. It wasn’t something he’d reflected over before, but where Grace was pale and fair-haired, Carlo had darker hair and a more brown shade of skin.
“Nothing?”
Zenon met his gaze. “What do you mean?”
