Chapter 45: The Third Act

Rhiannon's POV

Decatur wasn't far enough from Huntsville.

That's what she determined as she scanned the parking lot for familiar cars.

While she didn't recognize any of them, it didn't stop her from worrying. They were so close, just a few more days until they spoke with David about the true nature of their relationship.

The thought made her stomach turn flips.

John must have sensed something was off because he gripped her hand just a little tighter as they walked into the restaurant and asked for a table for two.

The restaurant was on the river, only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. To celebrate the end of the season, they were having a band play and all sorts of food specials. It looked like a good time and Rhiannon had begged John to go with her.

John sat quietly, picking at a piece of plastic on the napkin dispenser.

"I don't want you to be there when I do it," he told her.

"Why not?" Rhiannon asked, brows furrowed.
