Chapter 8

¤¤¤

I walked back upstairs and went back into the room. Shaking Melanie slightly, I shook her for a while till she woke up.

"Mmm, what is it?" she mumbled as I shook her hard losing my patience.

"Get up. We're expecting guests." I said next to her ear.

"What guests?" she asked turning over.

"More kids. I need your help, so get up." I said turning her back to face me.

"Mmm, no, go help yourself." she mumbled in an annoyed tone and turned back again.

"How can I when I'm not allowed to go out?" I questioned her as I shook her again and again.

*sigh* "Fine. Get off of me first." she said sitting up. "What do you need?"

"Could you go to my house and get the milk from the fridge? I need it." I said getting off the bed.

"Why do you even need it at this hour?" Melanie asked getting off the bed and going over to the bathroom.

"Well, uhmm-" I started speaking when she cut across me and spoke.

"If it's long, give me a second to go and freshen up before you launch into your story." she said and walked into the bathroom.

She came out a moment later with a towel in her hand to dry her wet face. "So?" she asked looking at me pointedly.

"I kinda may have forgotten that I wanted to take a round to the hospital, 'cause you know have babies and all born every day, But when I was gonna head out, Marcus caught me and you know how I'm not allowed to go outside?" I started rambling, something that Melanie was used to, which her expression showed.

"Yes, I know. Continue." she said putting the towel onto the chair and fixing up her hair.

"Well, he told me to stay inside and that he and Felix would go check it out." I said and walked behind her as she walked out of the room and downstairs.

"So where do I fit into this?" she asked walking up to the door and putting on her shoes.

"No where, actually. I just wanted to annoy you." I said with a giggle.

"Seriously?" she asked looking at me with an annoyed expression.

"Hehe." I gave a small chuckle as she glared at me with a piercing gaze.

*sigh* "I'll be right back." she said with a sigh and stepped out.

I went and sat down on the couch as I waited for Melanie. The door opened a small while later and she stepped inside.

"Did you seriously send me out in the cold for three bottles of milk." she questioned as she set the bottles down next to the door.

"Yes, yes I did." I said with a proud look as I walked over to the door and picked the bottles up.

I carried them into the kitchen as Melanie followed behind me.

"You do know we have a lot over here as well, right?" she asked as I put the bottle onto the counter.

"I do, I just think it won't be enough." I said and took out a few more bottles from the fridge and set them on the counter.

"How can seven whole bottles not be enough?" Melanie asked taking out another two from the fridge.

"Because we are talking a lot of hungry children who probably haven't eaten since they were born or so." I said counting the number of bottles. "Do you guys have any baby bottles?"

"Yeah, they should be in one of the cabinets." Melanie said and brought out a stool.

She got onto it and started looking through the cabinets.

"Found them." she said a few minutes later and threw a few bottles my way.

I caught them and put them down on the counter.

"Why do you guys have so many?" I asked as I started heating some milk.

"Let's just say that Diana was quite hard to deal with when she was younger." she answered and took out two more pots from one of the lower cabinets.

Just then there was a frantic knocking on the door followed by wailing.

"I'll go get it." Melanie said and ran to get the door as I started pouring the milk into the bottles.

I heard the wailing get louder as the door opened and Marcus and Felix brought them inside and set them on the couch.

"Ugh, what's that noise?" Diana asked coming downstairs as I ran into the lounge with all the bottles of warm milk and handed the bottles to Melanie.

"Diana, go get some blankets." I said to her as I ran up the stairs towards the rooms.

I ran in and picked up the blanket that me and Avery we're using and took out another from the cupboard.

I ran back downstairs just as Lily and William walked out to check what the commotion was.

Diana came back downstairs a second later as well carrying about three blankets which almost made her fall twice.

We set up the blankets and started settling the babies down. Baby Julia had also started making a fuss upstairs so Lily went up to check on her.

William stayed down to help calm all the babies down.

I got up and went to warm more milk. I brought back another round of warm milk just as Marcus and Felix brought back more of them. How many are there?!

I handed all the bottles to Melanie and ran back into the kitchen to heat more.

Picking up all the filled bottles, I went and handed them to Melanie.

William had gone with Marcus and Felix to get the many that were left, So I can't Diana and Lily to go get more blankets from my house.

I sat down next to Melanie and picked up one of the babies. I set a warm milk bottle to its mouth and started rocking it in my arms slowly.

Once that one calmed down and fell asleep I set it on the couch and picked up another.

A minute later, Marcus, Felix, and William had come back with more.

"That's all of them." Marcus said as he let out a deep sigh.

'All of them?!'
