Snow was starting to accumulate on the forest floor when William exited the cave system that night. He hadn’t shifted back into his wolf form since that cruel, silver-barbed net had trapped him, stifling his abilities and poisoning him slowly. Only the speckled pink scars remained as evidence of his ordeal – those and the human girl still trapped in his cave.

Part of him was unwilling to shift away from his human self as he recalled too vividly the chilling fear that he’d never see his human skin again. Never before had he hesitated - not since his first shift all those years ago. The reluctance was short-lived, however. He needed this.
