Love at first sight

The bullet surpassed through his head, blood tainting the walls. While the body lay on the ground motionless. Once he was sure the man was no more, he waved at the people to clean up the mess.

Till the dying second, the man didn't spill the name of the guy who hired him but Michael already knew who it could be and the list was long enough. The underworld was a dirty place, the death of people was treated like chicken sent into a butcher house. Unless you are influential enough your death rarely matters like the chicken.

It was a death race, only the strongest survive. In city A, Michael made himself a ruler of the underworld. Many eyes were on his throne, it was like politics with no rule and every move was lethal.

Michael was the first person to get control of an underworld who were ruled by a generation of families. What he was today was by himself, no one could make it up the food chain like Michael which naturally meant his life was constantly under the eyes of scrutiny and jealousy. One mistake from him means his whole emperor shatters into pieces.

After handing his gun to his correspondent, he started to walk out of the room. Just before leaving, a man whispered over Michael's handing a file to him. No one knew what the man said to Michael, his mood significantly improved. He even had a sly smile playing on his reply, which was completely opposite from his cold and ruthless personality.

The person a few minutes ago sounds strange seeing the man in front of him. A playful smile on his face, eyes sparkling like stars and that warmth like the warm gaze of sunlight. Michael's changed personality sent shudders among his correspondent.

One of the men even asked the older ones, "Is he sick?" To which the older one shrugs and shakes their head, even though they have seen that look for the first time. The guys sighed and pinched the bridge of the nose. This was one of the fastest transitions. Maybe his boss had a lit personality; he didn't have any idea.

After listening to his man, Michael pressed the lift button and pressed the file, the sweet smile still lingering on his face as he got into the lift. The lift was directly connected to his penthouse, and after creating this place. He specifically designed this building.

From the outside, it looked like an ordinary and abandoned building, even his penthouse camouflaged with it. But inside, every floor was secured with high security, even national house security looked at nothing in front of it. The empire was built so strategically that no one knows exactly how large it is underground or what lies inside. One who comes in never leaves.

Ding! The elevator door opened up revealing a corridor. With guards standing on each side of the wall, and at the end of the corridor a small wooden door. Michael walked up towards the door, the guards bowed their heads as he walked past them but Michael didn't focus much on them. He went straight for the door, and once entering he shut the door close.

The room was made against French windows as walls, a bar at one side, and a lounge in the middle and other than that it had a kitchen at one end. It was an open kitchen, facing the glass walls. The glimmering sunlight fell into the room.

Michael took off his white shirt and tossed it into the sofa, revealing his well-toned muscle. He walked up the three stairs and opened the door to his bedroom. Just a bed at the centre and minimum furniture.

Michael opened the file that the person provided to him. The playful smirk on his face was wiped away, as his gaze returned sharp reading the words on the file. Throwing the file away, he lit himself up a cigarette from the nightstand.

Michael sat down on the sofa beside the window, with his legs on the coffee table. He rubbed the middle part of his eyebrows. When his gaze went back to the file that he tossed into the floor.

"So she has haphephobia?" Michael sighed, puffing out a heap of the smoke. He leaned his head back on the sofa, and stared at the empty ceiling taking a few inhales of the cigar and stuffing it out. His mind filled with a thousand thoughts, mostly what happened last night.

"Was she uncomfortable with me too, when I tasted her?" Michael couldn't help but touch his lower lips, thinking about the fruity taste lingering in her mouth. Just the thought makes him irresistible. If only his little kitten let him touch it again.

"Will not let you go this time.," Michael whispered to himself.

A sudden knock bought him out of his thoughts. He lit off his cigar on the ashtray and sat up straight before answering it.

"Come in."

Opening the door, a young man entered the room. He was the same guy who handed the file earlier than him. He looked younger, probably in his twenties. Andrew glanced at the file on the floor but said nothing. He gave a slight bow to Michael once going close to him.

"What is it?" Michael went straight to the point.

Andrew didn't stall, and answered him, "We have taken care of the body, and we didn't find anything suspicious inside his body."

Michael nodded to his report. He had guessed that much. No sane one will send a guy with some kind of hint.

"Anything else?" Michael asked, raising a brow.

Andrew shook his head in reply. Michael sighed and took out another cigarette and lit it up.

"Have you fallen in love with someone at first sight?" Michael queries, puffing out a heap of smoke.

Andrew was bewildered at his question. It was the first time Andrew heard such a question from Michael. The whole A country knows how big of a playboy he was. He changed to girls more frequently than clothes and even with his notorious reputation his personality and look were something that makes anyone fall for.

Black straight hair and hazel eyes that look like liquid gold. Thin lips and sharp jawline gave him a sharp and edgy look. He looks no less than a Greek god, and if that was not enough his well-toned muscles, abs and v -line make any girl's heart wobble.  Then who snatched his heart?

"Reply, fast," Michael said becoming a bit impatient seeing him dazed.

Andrew snapped out and blinked twice before shaking his head and responding politely, "No, boss. I haven't."

"Hmm." Michael hummed, putting cigarettes between his lips and looking out of the window for a few moments then looking back at Andrew who was still puzzled, "Arrange a meeting with the CEO of H company." He ordered and then went back to smoking.

Andrew nodded to his order and left.

"Little kitty, we are meeting again. Looks like you and I are fated." Michael talked to himself with an evil smirk.

***

Almost nine o'clock, the sky lit up with a purple and orange line at the harbour. The light of the tall building was flashing their own light. The never-sleeping city looked the same from the morning except for the skyline.

At Sara's office.

Except for the noise of those frail fingers typing on the keyboard, the room remains serene with the only light coming from the computer screen. Her emerald eyes were busy reading the words she hand-typed when her screen popped a notification.

At first, she ignored it but soon another message popped up. Being annoyed at the notification she finally opened the chat.

'Sara! Reply ASAP!'

'I know you are on! Come on or else I'll ping you forever!'

The text said. Sara sighed looking at the user, as she thought it was from Anna. Knowing Anna will not stop until she gets her reply, Sara hastily sends her reply on seeing she was typing again.

'What is it?' Sara asked. After moments of silence, another message popped up on her screen, almost making her spit out her coffee.

'MICHAEL, I want to meet you!!' the message read.

It took some time for Sara to return back to her composure and put down her coffee mug. She didn't get a chance to reply when another one of Anna's messages popped out.

'He said he had something to say to you personally.'

'Sure, set up a meeting tomorrow.' Sara closes the chat before Anna asks for more information from her.

Leaning back on her chair, and blindly grabbed the coffee mug with a smirk. "Meeting me, huh?" She tapped on the coffee mug and took a sip. Before she can start working again, a knock on the door turned her head.

A sweet smile appeared on her lips, as she got up from her seat and went up to her mother, who was standing in the doorway with a lunchbox in her hand.

*haphephobia - fear of being touched, especially by the opposite sex .
