The Chronos Family

The crowd froze, some people even forgot to breathe with such an astounding scene unfolding right in front of them.

Most of these students didn't know of the overwhelming power of the Duchy of Choros, they merely thought that they were a bit stronger than the rest, yet what happened just now proved otherwise.

Henry completely dominated the match, sealing Hunter and dodging his spells with ease making it seem like an adult playing with a child. Although Professor Arthur was embarrassed and disappointed by Hunter's defeat he was still not surprised, as years ago he also experienced the Duchy of Choros's overwhelming power first-hand.

Space and Time magic are not only peculiar, but they are also extremely powerful as they interfere with the laws of the world. That is also the reason why The Royal Family and The Duchy of Choros are leagues above other families. However, this means that their bloodline can easily be tainted, which is why they marry within their family to keep their bloodline pure and strengthen their element.

"Okay, okay I give up" said Hunter with his usual cocky attitude hiding his disappointment with such a result.

Henry and Hunter jumped back to their seat. This time with Kyle sitting next to them.

"That was an amazing fight, Henry! I didn't expect you to be so strong"

"Hmph, it was nothing," replied Henry "Hey now, you don't need to disrespect me just because your element is the strongest" added Hunter.

"Unfortunately, it's not exactly the strongest" stated Henry, resentful.

"Oh yeah, there's that one as well" Just as Hunter finished his statement a sharp voice from the crowd could be heard saying, "Hey, did you hear? The other group are saying that Marco Chronos was there!"

"They even said that he won against Davis Fotia instantly"

The crowd caused a commotion after such news was announced, not expecting that even the Crown Prince was enrolled in the Academy.

"Yeah, the Chronos element of The Royal Family" [1]

"Wait what? what other group?" asked Kyle, confused, Henry looked at Kyle with a reprimanding look, "Do you see 2,000 people here, you dumbass? 150 went to alchemy classes, 350 to cleric classes and the rest of us went to battle classes, yet there are only about 1,000 people here. That's because the other half was taken by a different battle mage Professor who was not present at the meeting hall!"

"Oh right, I remember now," replied Kyle feeling guilty for not paying attention and missing such an important part, good thing they placed him in Professor Arthur's group, or else he might've gotten confused when he found another Professor taking the lead.

"Setting that aside, Davis is even stronger than me yet he lost instantly?!!" Henry glared at Hunter and replied, "Why are you talking like you didn't lose to me almost instantly, huh?!!"

"C-come on you know that's not what I meant, it's just making me wonder how strong the Crown Prince currently is"

"Hmph, that monster is probably already a high tier 3-circle mage" Kyle looked at Henry with complete shock and exclaimed, "THE CROWN PRINCE IS ALREADY A HIGH TIER 3-circle?!!!!"

"Yes, so stop screaming. The debate for why our family is inferior to the Royal Family even though we both possess primordial elements has been around for countless generations.[2]

The answer for that was concluded to be that the Chronos Family was around for longer, which made their bloodline purer than ours, giving them an advantage and making them more proficient with using their element.

That is why their element is not exactly stronger than ours."

"Hmmmmm, if so then why do you get angry whenever someone mentions them?" asked Hunter sarcastically.

"I'm ready to go for another round if you want," ....Hunter remained silent.

"But why is that?" asked Kyle

"We don't know, it's been almost a millennium since the Empire was first founded, I'm guessing history must've been altered at some point,"[3]

"Hey, Henry are you sure it's alright for you to speak of such grave secrets like that to him?"

"Heh, you don't need to worry about that, Kyle is the first person I acknowledged as a friend, he's not dumb enough to let me down"

"hahaha..." laughed Kyle awkwardly, suffocating from the pressure put on him.

The rest of the battles carried on for a couple of hours, and after everyone has fought the students returned to their dorms.

'I've reviewed my battle against Cole multiple times in my head and I need to improve my hand-to-hand combat skills. I only won because I hid the fact that I'm a dual wielder but with such a display today, I'm sure everyone already knows what I'm capable of, meaning that I can't use the element of surprise to my advantage again.'

Kyle at first despaired because no one would just give out martial arts techniques and their Viscount household didn't have any advanced martial techniques. However, he immediately remembered that the Academy offered some techniques later on in the semester.

Time passed. In the blink of an eye, a month went by. During that time, the students went about with their daily duties without anything extraordinary happening.

The daily duties consisted of their general classes where they explain basic matters an official mage needs to know for 3 hours 5 times a week and specific classes two times a week, with each class's duration differing. Professors that teach different types of mages teach the basics of their subjects two times a month, to make them more knowledgeable and see if some students wanted to transfer to a different path.

One day, Professor Stacy said that the 'Sacred Library' was open and free for use. The Sacred Library was not a normal library where students stay in overtime to study and read stories.

It was a place with all types of techniques including breathing techniques, mana control techniques, martial arts techniques and more... collected from all over the central continent.

It was made of four floors with the first floor accessible to first years, the second floor to second years and so on.

As Kyle was making his way to the library he stumbled upon a large crowd, this crowd didn't only consist of first years but it was filled with second, third, and even some fourth years could be seen, Kyle was confused as to why they were all waiting out here and not going in. So he closed in respectfully at a seemingly happy second year and asked, "Hello senior, Do you have any idea why they're all waiting out here and not going in?"

Although all students wear the same uniform with the boys wearing a blue blazer over a white shirt and jeans and girls wearing a pink blazer over a white shirt and a skirt, the thing that made Kyle identify the second year was the white handkerchief coming out of his breast pockets. First years have a pink handkerchief coming out of their breast pocket while second years have white handkerchiefs, third years have blue handkerchiefs, and fourth years have green handkerchiefs.

"Oh, a first year, huh! You're new so obviously you wouldn't know. Every year the library opens a month after the start of the semester, however, if it only opened there wouldn't be such a commotion. There is supposedly a secret technique left by a 9-circle mage in there..."
