"No," Olivia shook her head.
Devon's smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, struggling to stay contained.
"I can't believe you're forming words now," he said. "I look forward to when you can speak more fluently."
His affectionate gesture of rubbing her head made Olivia smile.
"Alpha," she called softly. Devon's smile widened, and his hand lingered in her hair.
"Olivia, you should end the training already. With more practice, you'll eventually speak perfectly."
Olivia agreed silently, not wanting to be the one to bring it up. She nodded slightly.
"Alright," Devon said, ruffling her hair a bit more before preparing to leave. Olivia didn't want him to go. He seemed different today—more human. Since she had administered the poison over a month ago, he appeared to become more human with each passing day. Each time she saw him like this, guilt gnawed at her.
