It was a terribly close encounter between Duke Balzac and the fiery shadow. Although both Julian and Elias had gone into panic and immediately prepared to protect their father, they also knew that it was a futile effort. No matter how fast they tried to finish the spell, it would still be too late.
Nevertheless, they couldn't just stand back and let the monstrous figure take the duke right before their eyes. If that were to happen, Julian and Elias wouldn't know how to move on, neither forgive themselves. Their father's demise would be in their hands and due to their biased foolish thoughts.
But, right now, they couldn't let their guard down because of guilt or care about anything else. Magic would be too late and thus, the next best course of action was to use their own body to block the attack. Hence, as soon as the young lords stood up, they didn't hesitate to run towards the duke.
