I'll omit the details of my past life. But, let me tell you a thing- I lived a satisfactory life before and I didn't die because of truck-kun.

Ridiculously, I reincarnated as a novel extra. It took me so many damn years before I realized I was that extra.

The family I was born to is kind and loving. Though we're not rich, we managed to eat meals three times a day. I was born the second child whose name is Lucia Rossiya.

For 16 years, I was able to live my life peacefully. I tried my best to not meet any characters from the novel.

Then came one day, where the peace I enjoyed has started to crumble.

While I was helping out my mom, suspicious men came into our house. My instincts warned me not to put up an immediate fight, so I waited for them to speak.

"Who are you? What is your business here?" I looked at the elegantly clad men who had just entered our house.

Quite rude, you know?

One of the men walked up and lifted a paper which read 'Tribute list'.

My knowledge of the novel didn't cross my mind as I was panicking inwardly because I saw my older brother's name.

'Lucard Rossiya'

I gulped nervously. The plot seems to have started.

In the novel, Lucia's brother, Lucard is the catalyst. The reason why Lucia ended up at the Kaitzen manor is because she followed her brother to free him.

I actually sighed when I read that part. How stupid…

No, I shouldn't have said that. Because I'm Lucia now, I have to find ways to save my brother, but not at the expense of my life.

"L-Lucard… H-he's sick…"

Mother started tearing up. I also felt crying right now because of the fear, however, I can't afford to succumb to my fears.

I should do something! I reincarnated with a cheat, why not use it?!

"Sick? I didn't ask how he is. Get your son quickly."

"Mister! My son has a weak constitution! I'll go in his stead!"

I clutched her hand tightly, giving a sharp look at her. She flinched on my touch, but that was enough to stop her from spouting words.

"Milord, can you wait outside? I'll have to talk with my brother for a moment, please."

I felt a tug on my hand. "Lucy, you can't!"

"Mom, it's a strict order from the government." I smiled with a tinge of sadness.

The man sighed, possibly annoyed by my request. Nonetheless, he agreed halfheartedly.

"Five minutes. If you fail to return in five minutes, I'll be dragging you together with your brother."

"Yes, yes." I quickly nodded.

Aren't you being an asshole? Tsk, if only you didn't have a gun, I'd probably kick your nuts by now.

Stupid! Asshole!

I quickly took mom upstairs. For five minutes, I have to explain the gist of my plan to them.

"Lucy! Just what are you thinking!"

Mother clutched my shoulders and made me face her.

I looked at her with a reassuring gaze. "Listen mom, I'll go in my brother's stead."

"You-"

"Shhh." I put my finger on her parted lips to stop her from interrupting my talk.

"I'll conceal my gender, so I won't be put to prostitution. I can do men's work with this strength."

In this world, lands are ruled by vampires. Humans are not on par with the blood-sucking creatures, only treated as meal and sexual relief.

It's unfair, yes, but I have to survive first. I can't live my days hating them to the bones.

I turned my head toward mom, then leaned on her for a moment. Three more seconds, then I'm off..

Moments after, I retracted my head and smiled at her.

"Take care, mom. Time's up."
