The Vampire party

Garrick hurried to the main door as he saw some of his old friends arrive, he walked down the hallway to the entrance with a smile on his face.

"Look who it is, welcome old friends," he exclaimed excitedly as he extended his hand for a handshake.

Well, he was a Verne and the Verne family knew just how to party. About four old men walked into the house and exchanged pleasantries with Garrick. They were all vampires and some of them were older than Garrick himself, but for some reason, Garrick was accorded more respect.

His strength and fame wasn't just about his age, it was his family line; the Verne vampires have been known through time to be one of the most powerful vampire families in terms of wealth and vampire strength. It was like they were a special breed of vampires that possesses extra strength than the average creation.

It was rumored that the first Verne vampire had met a sorcerer who gave him a serum that increased his strength, but no one really knew if there was any truth to that, what they knew was that the Verne family was one that shouldn't be messed with. They knew how to party as well as deal with those who stood against them. However, Garrick was the only Verne whose existence was still recognized by the vampire society, those before him were dead and no one knew where to find his other family members.

Garrick led the guests into the hall where the party was happening; the carpet was neatly polished and people would even doubt that the mansion was half a century old.

The hall was sparkling with colored lights and the disco ball made the place look magnificent. There was slow soft music and a lot of people dancing to it. The vampires had an old fashioned way of partying, including their choice of dressing, music and even dance steps.

Of course, those who had lived really long preferred the olden days to the modern times. They believed the world was being destroyed by civilization and as much as they tried to blend in with the new generation of humans, they preferred their old country lifestyle.

Of course, except for the young vampires who were born in the current century; they had no idea what a good life is, a life with no phones and internet. The young ones felt like the vampire parties were old fashioned and not following the trend.

Garrick notices Clarisse step into the hall, he smiles and walks to her, and then he offers her a hand like a gentleman. She was dressed in a beautiful white gown that made her feel like it was her wedding, she didn't approve of this gown but her mother had insisted that she put it on, she didn't even know why she needed to be here.

Clarisse took his hand hesitantly and rolled her eyes at him. "You know I can do fine on my own," she whispered, while trying not to drag more attention to themselves.

"Of course I know that, you are my daughter after all," he replied and laughed softly.

She scoffed and held the lower parts of her gown with her other hand as it was mopping the floor. "Why do I have to dress like Cinderella?" she asked and cursed silently.

"Oh, I don't have a hand in that, but you should ask your mom, sweetheart," he replied as he led her into the hall. "Anyway, I thought I should inform you that you should always keep your head high when you are in the presence of other vampires, you are the daughter of Garrick Verne and everybody here has no other choice then to respect you. Someone from such a powerful family should carry herself like one, I wish I was here to teach you all that, earlier." Garrick said.

Clarisse scoffed again with a soft mocking laughter. "Well you weren't here, and wishes cant turn back time, not even for someone as powerful as you," she replied.

Garrick sighed and his expression changed, he didn't want people to notice and so he just smiled. "I know that, Clarisse, and all I can really do is apologize. So many things had happened while I was gone and I was not aware of any, I really wish I never left," he said apologetically.

"Hmm… speaking of things that happened while you were gone, are you aware that your best friend and the love of your life were rolling under the sheets in your absence?" she asked with a smirk.

The smile on Garrick's face disappeared immediately and he froze, slowly letting go of Clarisse. He couldn't believe what he had just heard. Infuriation etched on his face and he clenched his fists.

"Stay here and be nice," he muttered in a solemn voice and then he turned around and left the hall immediately.

Clarisse could feel the rage emitting from him, he was pissed. "Sure, Dad." She muttered teasingly and smiled, then she took a glass of juice from a waiter that was passing by.

She loved the direction things were taking tonight, she would love to watch two vampires fight, although it would be more like Garrick beating up Connor. She couldn't wait to watch her father embarrass himself in front of his guests.

"I was hoping I would get a dance from you," that melodic voice made Clarisse's heart skip.

She turned around immediately and saw him; Chase! He was dressed in a smart tux and it looked really good on him. She couldn't help but admire what he had done with his hair, she loved the curls and carvings; he must have a nice barber.

"Hi, I didn't know you would be here," she said and smiled shyly.

"Oh, I couldn't miss another opportunity to see your beautiful face, even if it meant attending boring vampire parties," he replied with a smile.

She giggled. "You think they are boring?" she asked.

"Yeah, you don't think so?" he replied with a question of his own.

She laughed and looked up shyly. "I don't really know, I mean… this is my first time attending a vampire party," she replied.

"Oh… Wow, then we should probably make the best of it. May I?" he asked stylishly and stretched out his hand.

"Sure," she replied reluctantly and placed her hand in his palm. "But I must warn you, I don't know how to dance," she added with a shy chuckle.

"Leave that to me, my lady," he said sweetly and then he pulled her closer, with his hand wrapped around her waist.
