Dressing up to impress the wife

She sat on the couch as he went inside the walk-in royal closet to get dressed up.

Her mind was filled with all kinds of thoughts as he went inside to wear his clothes.

For some reason, she felt calm today. Maybe she got used to his ways. Adira decided to face it today and shouldn't back down. She shall make sure that his tricks won't work on her anymore. Maybe she wasn't as smart as him or any vampire in the Vampira… she was smart in her way. She would not let any rule her into her doom.

-----

Meanwhile…

Zaros stood in his changing room as he looked at himself in the mirror. He was dressed up completely and was brushing his wet hair. They were still damp after his fresh bath. As he brushed his long bangs, he immersed himself in his thoughts. Zaros didn't know how to start a conversation.

Should he start with an apology?

Or should he start with an explanation?

He doesn't know. He was contemplated.

As he continued to brush, the brush slid down from his hand and dropped on the ground with a thud, bringing him out of his thoughts.

Bending down, he picked it up and placed it on the table.

What a fool he was? He didn't even wipe his wet hairs yet he brushed them. Scolding himself for not paying attention, he picked up his towel and dried his hair. After drying it, he brushed it again and let them fall freely over his shoulders. His hair was not very long but fairly long they reached his shoulders which made him appreciate his hair.

Looking at himself, he realized he needs to put on some perfume. Even though he never put on some fragrance on himself at night, he felt the need to put some fragrance on him tonight.

Zaros felt that fragrance may calm his wife when she was angry with him in the middle. Patting himself for the brilliant idea he got, he applied the fragrance to his wrists and his collar bones. Its fragrance was made of rose wood and a bit of lavender that made him feel calmer. He made sure that he wasn't stinking or reeking of perfume strongly but it smells light. Zaros read that mixture of rose and lavender smell can make one feel calmer and happier and can even cool down their anger. He hoped this would work in catastrophic situations. He straightened the nonexistent creases on his clothes. And looked at himself front and back in the mirror for one last time.

Maybe this was okay? Right?

He wished to go to his sister and ask her opinion but he held back. He brought enough problems for her till now and he shouldn't disrupt her until he fixes them.

He remembered the situation when she walked away like a robot almost lifelessly from his brother-in-law's study room.

Adira wondered what was taking so long for Zaros to come out. She couldn't get why he was taking this much time to dress in night clothes. Even she won't take this much time to wear her ball gown and here he was taking more than half an hour to dress!

Uff… her patience was running out now.

She doesn't want to wait any longer. She decided to leave but his sincere face flashed in her mind that making her unable to step out of the chambers.

Adira was confused, what shall she do with him?

Would she turn out like her mother?

Even her mother was involved in a loveless marriage. Her mother and her father never truly mated. There were even rumors that her birth was a surprise to the whole kingdom as it was said that since the real mate of her father died, everyone believed that he wouldn't mate with her or have sex with her. Everyone believed that the king married his second wife to keep the kingdom unity together and to give the werewolfians strength. When the news about Serene being pregnant everyone was surprised.

Adira sighed at the memories that came rushing into her mind. At the very least her mother had a peaceful marriage compared to her. She wasn't abused or suffered. It's only that she lived in a loveless marriage. What was surprising to her was… she could never understand was their fur colors. She neither got her father's fur nor her mother's.

For some reason, she has a golden yellow color like the golden blades of grass that was bathed in the sunlight. She got the most attractive fur color in the whole kingdom. Many were envious of her color, many wished to have her fur but she knew better that because of her different fur color nobody approached her.

People said that she was the kid who was blessed with the moon goddess shine and that was the reason she was born with golden color. Many people… always praised her with praises and flattery words. As a kid, she felt happy about them. But as she grew up… she knew it better. She doesn't want their praises. Everyone treated her like a rare gem or an antique that came out of the museum which made her feel bad.

She loved attention, she won't deny that… but she wants a kind of attention where everyone cares about her genuinely not fakely, where everyone wants to be with her, be in her company just to talk and chat many things together but not to gain her flattery or praises. She doesn't want people to treat her that way.

When she heard about her marriage she thought, she could make her husband her best friend and a good friend. She wanted him to become her everything. Adira wanted to experience everything that she couldn't experience in her childhood. But who knew… that her dreams would remain as her dreams.

Adira smiled bitterly at the state she was in. What she could do? When she was born as a princess in the royal family… she was deemed to sacrifice her life for the sake of their kingdom and her citizens.

Sighing she leaned back on her couch tiredly. These were the days that she opt to sleep like there was no tomorrow and doesn't need to get up for a long time.
