Chapter 27

　　"Your mother is the kindest woman I had ever known," she answered. "That is why telling me I would resign from my job as her assistant was not that easy."

　　I nodded, feeling heavy. I was aware that being pregnant required being this emotional, but now was not perfect timing to feel such tears about to flow from my eyes.

　　"If she is kind..." I started. "Why did she dump me?"

　　That widened her eyes. It was clear she knew about that thing. She seemed lost in words but still managed to utter them. "I do not know much about their problems. But, I am sure that is only for your own good—"

　　"That is bullshit," I madly butted in. Pia just sighed as she understood me for being this way. "What kind of mother she is to dump her own daughter? Did she just lose her mind?"

　　When I was a juvenile, I thought knowing the truth about me would not make me feel like I was the unluckiest woman in the whole world. But this moment just proved me wrong.

　　"She loves you, I am sure of that."
