You Are My Soulmate

Love. What is it? Is it the feeling of euphoria when a beloved kisses one for the first time? Is it in the crazy beating of your heart when the stage curtains open? Is it there as one cries at a parent's funeral? Or is it the empty ache in one's heart when their sibling ignores them?

In reality, love is just a word. A word for the feeling of a strong togetherness, at the epitome of connection between beings. Some fear it, while others seek it. However, the word was neither meant to be comprehended, nor feared or seeked. It is beyond the human mind, beyond what one can even begin to imagine. It is like a playful child in an infinite land of sweet nothings and rides. The world is it's playground.

And it has a tendency to show up when least expected.

It was a time of magic and wonder. Young children laughed on the streets on the festive night, their joy uplifting the small world around them. I sat on my porch peacefully, wondering of what we would become, of what would happen in our future, whether we would finally succeed or find love.

Fireworks soon lit up the dark heavens, the new year's spirit filling our lungs. It was a time of celebration, a time to forget our woes. I stood up and sprinted to the center square of our little town, seeing the rest of my friends do the same. We picked up our instruments and mics, and started.

It was pure bliss. We sang and danced. We played our hearts out. I knew, then and there, that this was what we were meant to do. The music coursed through our veins, each small melody coming together in a beautiful symphony. I stood there with my family. And we knew that we were connected in a way that could not be comprehended, in an inconceivable waltz with destiny. The strong feeling of fate that enveloped us took us away from our surroundings and into a dazed, hypnotic cosmos.

We continued for years. We were free spirits in the wind, traveling new roads and giving our music to the world. We were abused, hated upon and thrown around. But we were together, and that was all that mattered. We reached for the stars, and eventually succeeded. We became great.

We got older, wiser. We realized that this was all we needed; our music and each other. The memories we shared with every little thing we owned were precious. The way we could be ourselves around each other, was precious. The love we shared was precious. And we realized that we didn't need to go out looking for our soulmates. They were right beside us the whole time.

A/N Hi. I was inspired by the song 'Friends' by BTS and thought 'why not?' Hope you like this one! It's kind of a short story, but I may make it into a book if you guys want me to.

The message I wanted to give is that love isn't always where and what you expect it to be. It is something that could be right under your nose, and you would never know. You don't have to go looking for your 'soulmate'. Sometimes, your calling is right next to you.

Love and cookies,
