Go ahead and find out. A oneshot and an AU version of chapter 46 of the drama The Untamed. Bad English, but a very heartwarming story. The Owner Of My Life

Lan Wangji

The next morning, exactly at five, Lan Wangji wake up holding something warm that for some reason he didn't want it to let it go. When he open his eyes, he was quite pleased to find that the precious man in his arms was none other than Wei Ying, that have find a way to tangle his legs and arms around him while he slept.

Wei's head was resting over his left shoulder, almost nuzzling his neck, while his left arm was holding his robes almost at his waist and his legs were pretty much between his demanding the space. He had seen Wei sleep before, but never from that perspective, never from that close, as he felt his warmth and breading into his skin and he smiled.

He had to admit that he had dream with something like that quite a few times, all of them, just a reflection of his inner feelings and wishes. He had yearned for the man for long years, after all, so it wasn't really a surprise to want him alive and well while he slept. Now, his dream had turned to be a reality that he had hoped for so long, thus he took his time to admire Wei Ying one more time, once again memorizing every aspect of his face.

Lan wondered just how the sacrificing curse worked, aside from calling the soul of the intended deceased without his consent, to make the offered body resemble the forced soul in such a stunning way. That Mo Xuanyu was able to call upon Wei's soul was already a mystery that he wished to solve, because in the last sixteen years, he had try Wei's Inquiry in multiple times, but he never got an answer no matter how hard he try it, even when he once performed it down the cliff that had taken his life.

Still, no matter how wicked or tainted the method of bringing him back was, as long as he could hold him and have him by his side for the rest of his life, he would not care about it. There was no point in denying himself of the obvious truth of his beating heart, he loved Wei Ying almost from the beginning and had painfully miss him for long enough.

Even if others oppose them, he will count his fortune for having a second chance, when others suffered the departure of their loves one without that consolation. He even had to call upon Wei's luck, as even if he was borough back from the dead in order to take revenge for someone else, so far he had no need to kill. He only worry about the Chief Cultivator life, if it really was Wei Ying last wound, but he will pray for lady luck to smile at him once more and he didn't have to kill him directly.

Even so, he will deal with any consequences when the times come, as for now, he only needed to take care of him while he was still vulnerable, with low spiritual power and no weapon other than his bamboo one. Wei was still skilled with dark energy, but didn't have the same power that he did in his previous life, for which he was glad. Wei could easily control the small amount of dark energy he could use and as long as he didn't begin cultivating it again, he will not lose control over his watch.

Lan Wangji, gave Wei a slight kiss in the crown of his head and unwilling to wake up Wei Ying that early, he simply closed back his eyes and silently meditate right were he was, with the Yiling Patriarch hugging him almost for dear life and his long hair spreading over his shoulder and chest. Wen Ning would be quite embarrassed if he came in and saw them like that, but the Ghost General was probably still out and will come back after the sun rises. A few more hours and they will walk to Yinping City and try to find the Chief Cultivator's whereabouts, as well as that of his brother, which he hoped was unharmed, despise the circumstances. If Jin Guangyao dared to hurt him, while his brother believed in him so blindly, nothing will stop him from serve the Chief Cultivator's head from his neck.

Wei Ying

After waking up in Lan Zhan's arms earlier than usual and tease him a bit, greeting him with a heated good morning kiss, they prepare for their departure. In their way, Wei keep thinking about Wen Ning, as the three walked in silence. Lan Zhan seemed lost in thoughts, probably because he was worry about his brother, who they knew nothing more than he was there somewhere. He didn't blame him, of course, because if he had been in his place he would had rush to Yinping to tear apart door for door in his desperate search for his brother.

He once passed through something similar in his previous life and that one had end up with Jiang Cheng losing his golden core. He hoped that the brotherhood between Lan Xichen and Jin Guangyao was strong enough to keep his safe for the time been, but just in case, they make haste, for Lan Zhan's sake. However, as Wen Ning keep been bully by even little kids, he wonder for how long Wen Ning will keep following him.

He didn't mind his presence, hell, he had thrown away his Clan to save what was left of his family and him, but he wasn't his servant, meaning he deserved a better way of life. A life in which he at least have some friends, someone to interact with, other than Lan Zhan and himself. Thinking about that bring to his mind the name of another Lan Clan member. Lan Sizhui looked friendly enough to at least try to befriend Wen Ning. Also, the kid didn't seem scare of him as the other juniors did, but even seek his company.

"Lan Zhan... I was thinking about Wen Ning." Wei said and Wangji looked at him, with his usual serious poker face.

"What about Wen Ning?" Lan asked back and stop, so he could pay better attention to Wei's apparent concern.

"I was thinking that after this is all over, hopefully in our favor, that we should look for a home for him. He can't possible follow us for the rest of his life and he had suffer long enough of solitude and tragedy." That was certainly true, Wangji thought, especially now that they had begun a romantic relationship in their private time.

Eventually, if they wanted to take deeper steps, they needed their space, as any couple would and the Ghost General was not their servant by any means. He was free to go whatever he wished and certainly deserved a place he could call home, as anyone would wish for it.

"Have you think of a place?" Lan asked, as he looked back to Wen Ning, been trapped inside a circle of kids. He had such a kind soul, yet he had been used to the greatest evils.

"Ah... well, you see... I think that Lan Sizhui is quite friendly with him... they get along so well..." Wangji heart sink at that, because he knew what Wei Ying wanted, but his Uncle will never agree. He had already impose him with Ah Yuan, sixteen years ago, there was simply no way his Uncle will host the Ghost General in the Cloud Recesses.

"Wei Ying, my Uncle will never agree to take him in." Wangji stated sadly. He still needed to tell Wei about Ah Yuan, but now didn't seem to be the right time to do so.

"Ah, I know... but it doesn't have to be inside the Cloud Recesses. There are small towns close... they can meet in night hunting's or something...Wen Ning can help the juniors with that." Lan almost smiled.

"Wei, there is still a curfew inside the Clan's residence. No junior can go out in night hunting's that are not permitted."

"Damn rules..."

"Wei Ying..."

"Yeah, yeah... I know." Wei sighed. "Alright, I will think about something else." He said, looking at Wen who was now calling for his help.

"Hey! Don't bully him!" Wei yelled and the kids dashed away while laughing. The Yiling Patriarch sighed, as they resumed they walk. By late afternoon, they reached the city and find some curious things about it. There was a temple constructed in the city that will all honestly looked out of place, mostly because temples were built in mountains, a city one was rare.

"Lan Zhan..." Wei Ying whisper.

"Mn, let's have a look." Wangji agree, already knowing his request, which make Wei smile. They were beginning to understood each other to a point they could read the other one's thoughts.

They went in and carefully took notice of everything inside of it. For common people, spiritual energy and talismans, meant nothing, but for those who had chosen the path of cultivation, a certain placement of talismans or strong spiritual energy meant something else entirely.

"Lan Zhan..."

"Mn, there is an array formation here, a complicated one."

"They are trying to suppress something. There is a hint of dark energy too." Wei said and Lan agree with him.

"We better leave now and come back after night time and have another look at the array formation." Wangji suggested and they leaved the place inmediatly, so not to call for any unwanted attention. They rented a room and have something to eat before going back after nightfall.

At their return, Lan Wangji used his spiritual energy to check the array and it was quite strong, so they decided to have a look inside in the old fashion way. Wei had ask Wen Ning to watch the door and keep anyone who try to come in from entering, especially if it was someone like Jin Ling, who he had the feeling was tailing them.

Then, they chose a place to their advantage and have a look inside the temple, which of course, was full of cultivators armed with bows and arrows, as well as fake monks carrying swords and after a short while they were surprised to see Lan Xichen walking freely and unharmed among the cultivators that at least showed respect toward him.

"Brother..." Lan Wangji whisper and Wei looked at him with understanding.

"At least he is not harmed..." Wei whisper back, but in that moment, the bark of a dog Wei knew well was heard, making the powerful and talented Yiling Patriarch glue to Lan Zhan, instinctively.

"Damn, why is Fairy and the brat here at this hour?" Wangji held Wei's waist and pull him closer, but said nothing further. He simply watched in silence as Jin Ling did everything that could put his life in danger without a care, in less than a minute, to a point they had to reveal their hiding place in order to save his life and as both of them try to fight back to give Lin Jing some time to escape, Wei had failed to see Jin Guangyao coming with a dangerous string that was placed over his neck.

Lan Wangji was in rage in the very moment the Chief Cultivator put Wei's life in danger and even more so when he tightened the hold of the string around Wei's neck, making him bleed. To Lan Xichen, he could see that his brother had a hint bloodlust, as he watched Jin Guangyao with the deepest fury his brother had experiment so far.

He wondered why Wangji had become that fierce. It was obvious he had deep feelings for Wei Ying for long years, but the way his brother's rage had escalate it to a point it could be seen, meant that his feelings for Wei Wuxian were even deeper than before. Did something happen between them?

"I advice you, Light Bearing Lord to give six steps back. As you can see, right now, I have your life in my hands." The Chief Cultivator said with a wide smile and Wangji internally curse him, because of course, he was absolutely right.

Wei Ying meant the world for him before, but after he returned, Wei had become even more significant to him. He was undoubtedly and essentially, his entire life, so despite Wei's command of him to get away and look for help, he obeyed Jin Guangyao's suggestion and step back exactly six step as his gaze never leaved Wei's. Right then, as both of them look at each other, Wei understood that no matter what, Lan Zhan will not defy Guangyao's order, as long as he held him captive and despite the situation, he loved the man more, because by stepping back, he had just accept him as the owner of his life.
