Overwhelming Happiness

Lan Wangji

Next morning, a bit before sunrise, Lan Wangji wake up as he usually did, but this time he was not alone in bed. By his side, Wei Ying was clinging to him like his life depend on it, making him smile. He had waited for so long to have him like that, to have him that close, to hug him and kiss him the way they did last night, to make love to him and be loved back, that he was currently in a state of pure bliss.

He had dreamed with such scene for so many years, yearn for it each night of his absence, suffering in silence the loss of his presence in his world and yet, not even in his wildest dreams he had experience such pleasure, such warm and most of all such love. It was because of that he was willing to leave his Clan, to follow that man that held his heart in his hand, to finally share his life with him no matter where that leaded, because Wei Ying was his home.

He looked down at his sleeping lover and lost himself in his sight. Wei's head was almost kissing his neck, while his arm was across Lan's chest, holding his white robe close to his heart and their legs were intertwined under the warm covers. Last night memories of their love makings crossed his mind, remembering the heated kisses, the moans of pleasure, the blissful sensation of Wei's hands all over him and he found himself wanting more.

However, Wei Ying was still weak and quite low on spiritual power, so instead of trying to wake him up with soft kisses as he desire it, he decided to give him a bit more of his spiritual energy to help him recover faster. The Second Lan Master then, gently moved the long hair to the side and placed his hand on Ying's back and closed his eyes in concentration, transferring his energy to the precious handsome man on his arms.

After a few hours, he carefully leaved the bed, so not to wake up Wei Ying, to do his morning meditations and restore part of the energy he had given him. He knew that eventually many of the junior's cultivators will insist in seen Ying, especially Jin Ling who had also insisted on staying and Sizhui, who he was almost sure had remember something about his past in the Burial Mounds and with the Yiling Patriarch.

Thus Wangji was quite aware the time for him to tell Wei Ying about Ah Yuan had finally come and he hoped with all his heart that the good news will make him more cheerful, because Wuxian needed something else to be happy about than their relationship. He wanted for Ying to have a life without further tragedies or hatred, he wanted for him in this second chance in life to really enjoy it with those he had care for.

Wei Ying

After a while, around eight in the morning, Wei Ying finally wake up, extending his hand to reach for Lan Zhan who had been by his side during the night, but find the space empty. Startle, Wei Ying sat in haste over the bed while looking around the room, to find it completely empty, making him begin to panic, fearing for his nightmare to come true while he dreamed.

Waking up from a disturbing dream in which Wangji had let him go alone to travel the world, while he became the Chief Cultivator, he feared that what had happened between them last night had been a wishful dream from his part, instead of a wanted reality like he needed it to be. In the dream he had been glad for Lan Zhan to be the one watching over the Clans, as they could not find a more righteous man, except perhaps, his brother Lan Xichen, but after their depart, he had been devastated while playing the melody Wangji had composed for him, with his flute. The melody became melancholic as it resonate in the lone cliff, as his heart cry out the absence of the man he had wanted to share his life with, but had not ask him to stay.

He hastily removed the covers to go out of the room and search downstairs for Wangji, but as he was about to open the sliding door, someone else did it for him and he found himself face to face with the one he was looking for. Still caught up in his anxiousness to believe him gone, Wei Wuxian throw himself into the arms of the Light Bearing Lord, hugging him, while burying his face over the small of his neck. Lan Zhan was a bit confused as to why Wei Ying looked so desperate, but still, he hug him back, gently caressing his back to calm him down.

"Wei Ying, what is it?" Lan Zhan whisper to his lover in his ear. He had wake up earlier than expected and he wonder why was he like that.

"I have a dream... no, more like a nightmare. We were saying our final goodbyes, because you were offered the position of Chief Cultivator and accepted because of our promise... but I couldn't stay in the Cloud Recesses for long, so I was going to leave... and you let me go... just like that, just let me go to wonder around on my own." Wei whisper back, holding him tighter.

"Just a dream. I'm here. Calm down." Wangji added.

"Promise me you won't leave me." Wei insisted.

"I promise. Now, let us in..." Wangji said softly.

"Huh? Us? Lan Zhan what do you mea...?" Wei let go of him, in confusion, but then he looked behind Lan Zhan's shoulder. At the border of the sliding door, stood Lan Sizhui and Wen Ning, both of them clearly embarrassed for the sudden display of affection. Wei then, laughed nervously, glad that they had clean their sticky mess last night and dressed back before went to sleep in each other arms, otherwise Sizhui and Wen Ning would had seen him half naked and be even more embarrassed.

"Ah, Sizhui... Wen Ning..." Wei said as he moved away from the door, so they could come in.

"Senior Wei..." Sizhui formally greet him.

"Young Master Wei..." Wen Ning said nervously.

"Hum, guys... why are you here so early in the morning? Are the other brats still downstairs?" Wei asked, as he moved to open the window to let the soft light of the new day in, then recline over the border, to enjoy the morning breeze. He loved the way the light make Wangji reflect it with his mourning white clothes. Perhaps at some point, he can make Lan Zhan wear more blue, like Xichen or red, if he convince him to wed him, so their union will be for life.

"Young Master Wei, downstairs is quite full, not only with the juniors of the Clans, but also the leaders. With Nie Huaisang unable to move for a while, they are discussing in what to do with former leader Mingjue's coffin. Should they move it to the Unclean Realm or..." Wen Ning begin saying.

"It's not going to be a good idea to move the coffin to Unclean Realm. The resentful energy is not something that should be played with and Nie Huaisang had already done enough of that. If you don't want either Baxia or Mingjue going in and out of that coffin, buried somewhere else, in a unpopulated area as deep as they can, then seal the whole place and let it rest in peace."

"Wei Ying, what do you mean?" Lan Zhan asked, obviously referring to Huaisang playing with the resentful energy.

"I'm quite sure that Nie awaked Baxia spirit after I sealed down the first time. Only he could had done it and the strong energy I felt before Baxia went out of control again, came from where he was standing. Thinking back, he probably knew Mo Xuanyu, who knew some of the dark secrets Jin Guangyao was hiding, so they put in motion a plan that will satisfy their need of revenge, with Nie extracting Baxia spirit close to the Mo mansion, for you kids to stumble over the case, which in turn will bring Wangji to investigate it as well, while Xuanyu offer his body and bring me back to take revenge in his place. The rest we know, the threatening letter, the two women confession back in the Lotus Pier and so on. That idiot even fool me to the very end." Lan Zhan frowned, so Huaisang was the second one moving things behind their back to get to Guangyao. They were all used by the two men no one expect it.

"I will tell brother about this. Stay here." He said, beginning to move to the door.

"Ah, Lan Zhan... there is no real proof and it's not like anything can be changed if you tell Xichen and at the end, he did bring me back, no matter the reason, he give us a second chanced and he was punished, been bed ridden for a while and all." Wei protested.

"I know. Still, my brother needs to know, as a Chief Cultivator." Wangji responded.

"Wait, what? Xichen? Really? I'm so glad it wasn't you..." Wei said with unhidden relief.

"I wouldn't leave you. Too troublesome to be left alone." And both Wen Ning and Sizhui watched in awe as the Second Lan Master half smiled, before he turned to leave the room, while Wei laughed.

"Ah, he is learning so fast, he can come back at me now." Sizhui smiled.

"He is too fond of you, he would never had accepted the position." Sizhui said, although the word who would describe Lan Wangji's feelings was not exactly fond, but in love.

"Right... so what brings the two of you here so early in the morning? They are not bulling Wen Ning, right? Because if those brats are, I will put them all in place." Wei said.

"Senior Wei, it's not that." Sizhui said a bit nervously. Wei looked at Wen Ning, but the shy Ghost General avoided his gaze.

"Then..." Wei urged him while slightly reclining his head to one side.

"I had been talking to Wen Ning and after I hear you playing your flute, I kind of remember some things from a very long time ago, that I had forgot about them. I was going to ask Wen Ning... but I think I need to ask you directly, just to be sure." Sizhui said, making Wei Ying curious.

"Hum... what kind of memories?" Wei asked.

"Although I just remember a good deal of it, I can't say I remember all. When I was a kid, I remember the one who was like a father to me, who take us in when we had no hope. He try once to plant me like a radish, telling me that with water and sun I will grow bigger..." At those words, Wei Ying froze in place, remembering Ah Yuan... the little kid he thought had die shortly after him, the one he had told those words, as he threw earth over his lap. Was that, Sizhui? It couldn't be, right? Wuxian thought in shock as he gave Lan Sizhui a better look, to see if he could find that little Ah Yuan's features in the young man standing in front of him.

"Obsessed with planting lotus seeds for weeks..." Sizhui continue and Wei widen his eyes in even more surprise. Was it really him? His Ah Yuan?

"Saying he will treat the Light Bearing Lord to a meal, then running away, making him pay for him..." By then, tears were running down Wei's cheeks, still too stunned to move or mutter a word.

"Saying that it wasn't so bad to walk over a single plank bridge to the darkness..." Wei's heart was now beating faster with surprise and overwhelmed happiness.

"Ah, Yuan? But he die a long time ago... he was left alone in the Burial Mounds..." Wei manage to whisper as he gave a step closer to Sizhui.

"Inventing things that will explode and make sister Qing mad..." Sizhui keep up, just before the Yiling Patriarch throw himself to him to hug him, smiling as he cry his heart out in happiness.

"Ah Yuan... Is it you? Was it Lan Zhan who save you?" Wei asked as he hugged the kid even closer.

"He did. He take me from the Burial Mounds when I still have the surname of Wen... Senior Wei... I... I'm indeed Ah Yuan..." Wei laughed in happiness, as the sliding door open again and Lan Wangji watched his lover in such a bliss, while hugging the one who he loved as a son.

"I'm so glad you were saved... Wen Ning... you are not alone now, you still have a member of your family in this world." Wei said happily to the equally joyful Ghost General who assented in agreement.

"I... I missed you so much..." Ah Yuan whisper as he too try to control happy tears, but failed, just like the one holding him. This was the man who had saved them, throwing everything away to give them a chance to live, even if it was for one more year.

"It's me who missed you, silly boy. I'm so sorry for what happen then... but I'm glad, Lan Zhan find you and took care of you in my place. You are a fine Lan now." Wei whisper to Ah Yuan who smiled in even more happiness.

"Wei Ying, I'm sorry for not telling you before." Lan Wangji interrupted, coming inside the room and Wei simply let go of Ah Yuan, slightly patting his back, then turned to hug his lover instead.

"Don't apologize... you save him... my Lan Wangji, my Light Bearing Lord, my Lan Zhan, my love, I owe you the world... thank you. Just thank you." Wei Ying said, letting go of him, to clean his tears of happiness. He felt like been reborn, like having a family back, even if it was a very small one. Wangji half smiled at Wei Ying, quite temped to kiss him senseless right there, but Sizhui was there along with Wen Ning, so he repressed the desire.

"No wonder you were quite advance in your studies in comparison to the other juniors, even capable to make Inquiries. You had such an excellent teacher." Wei said, smiling at Lan Zhan.

"You teach him too." Lan Zhan said back, making Wei smile again. Ah, he loved Ying's smile the most and he was certainly never tired of it. He could look so innocent, yet mischievous at the same time, it was always amusing.

"Huh? Yeah... that should be right. This brat was quite the hassle when a kid... always looking for troubles, so I think I teach him a thing or two..." Wei said, looking at Sizhui.

"You didn't teach me anything." Ah Yuan stated.

"Of course I did! You just don't remember well..." Sizhui thought back.

"Oh, you did teach me something... how to look at pretty girls bosoms, without been caught." Lan Zhan arched an eyebrow and Wei Ying hurry to shut up the kid, while placing a hand over his mouth.

"No way. How could I teach a kid such things?" Wei laughed nervously. He was such a liar, Wangji thought. Still, Sizhui get away from Wei.

"Then what about hiding adult stuff in old text books?" Again, Lan Zhan arched an eyebrow... so he still had those habits back then? Maybe he needed to be more aggressive, having such a passionate lover.

"Hey! That's nonsense! Lan Zhan... you can't possibly believe I could do that. Right?" Wangji slightly smiled.

"You did it once with me. I guess your memory is still not fully back." Wangji said calmly, making Wei panic.

"See? You did it..." Sizhui added more wood to the flame.

"H... how come? Nn... no you both remember it wrongly."

"Wen Ning can also tell, he was there too when sister Qing yelled at you for it...."

"Hey, don't involve your uncle Ning, how can you remember things like that anyways, you were too young. Light Bearing Lord, how did you raise this kid?"

"He raise me well, you by the other hand were..."

"Ah Yuan, stop the nonsense, I was a good father..."

"More like a mother, the Light Bearing Lord was definitely the father. You said the one with the money was the father and you did bring the milk in." Ah Yuan said smiling.

"What? You ungrateful little brat... I should have let you starve or really let you grow like a radish..." But at that moment, Ah Yuan couldn't help himself but to go down and grab Wei Wuxian's leg, just as he did when he was a kid, happy to have his memories back and as well as his father. Wei Ying, stopped his complaining, taken aback by the old gesture, he only did with those he liked. Wuxian's smile widen greatly, gently caressing the kid's hair.

"Ah Yuan, you are too old for this..." Still, he was greatful for it.

Lan Wangji was smiling this time too, glad that Wei Ying had such a blissful moment with those he cared about. How he could not love that man? And how he could let him go on his own? That was certainly a bad dream, because he didn't have it on him to stay away from a man he loved more than his own life. He could not abandon him to wonder around feeling like he no longer belonged to that world, because in reality he could not longed for him more that he did now. Because his home was where he stood and his family those he had protected.

In all, the Second Lan Master was overjoyed to witness the reunion that had healed half of Wei's wounded heart, the other one will problably heal soon, very soon.

AN: Thanks for reading. I thought of merging my version with that of the drama, making the end a dream. Hope you like it like this more, there is a second part to this blissfulness, but that will come next. With love, take care until next time. 😍😁💖😄🌹❤❤
