How was it possible for a girl who looked like a loli to completely dominate him, a man over six feet tall, in a shooting game? Jian Yiling displayed incredible skill—her aim was precise, her movement was agile, and she had an uncanny ability to predict enemy actions. Just like that, two hours flew by. Yu Xi's rank climbed from Platinum to Diamond, while Jian Yiling shot up from Bronze all the way to Platinum!
The ranking points were calculated based on individual performance at the end of each match, and Jian Yiling consistently achieved extraordinarily high scores, allowing her rank to rise much faster than Yu Xi's. At this rate, it wouldn't be long before she surpassed him.
Before logging off, Jian Yiling glanced at the global leaderboard, and it was no surprise to see ZYS ranked at the very top.
"Time to go home," she said, turning to Yu Xi with her sweet voice.
Yu Xi looked at Jian Yiling, taking in her bright, sparkling eyes and her fair, delicate face. She looked every bit the soft, cute girl. He still couldn't reconcile the image of the gentle girl in front of him with the fierce player, J10, he had just teamed up with.
"What are you spacing out for?" Zhai Yunsheng's voice cut through Yu Xi's thoughts.
Startled, Yu Xi immediately got up from the gaming chair. "I'm coming, I'm coming!"
He safely escorted Jian Yiling back to the Jian household and returned her to her grandmother.
"Did you have fun, dear?" Grandma Jian asked with a warm smile. "Did you win with Yu Xi?"
Yu Xi felt a bit awkward, smiling sheepishly as he replied, "We won…"
Although, to clarify, it wasn't he who helped Jian Yiling win; it was actually Jian Yiling who had led him to victory effortlessly!
"I see," Grandma Jian said, then turned to Jian Yiling. "Did you have a good time tonight, my dear?"
"Mm-hmm," Jian Yiling replied softly.
"That's wonderful! You should come over more often to play with your brother Yu Xi. Let him introduce you to more fun games, or maybe you could go out for a walk," Grandma Jian suggested.
She knew that no matter how much care she offered as a grandmother, she couldn't provide the same companionship that a peer could. Although the tutor, Qin Chuan, seemed decent, she felt uncertain about his background. Yu Xi, on the other hand, was a trustworthy kid, though he was quite a bit older than Jian Yiling.
So, Grandma Jian asked Yu Xi for his opinion, "Yu Xi, if you're home more often these days, could you take my little Yiling out to have some fun? I'm getting old and can't keep up with all those vibrant activities that young people enjoy. I can't take her to amusement parks anymore."
While Grandma Jian was in good health, she simply couldn't keep pace with the energetic pastimes young folks loved. After all, she couldn't let her granddaughter spend all day with her, drinking tea, admiring flowers, and watching the news.
"I have time; I don't have much on my plate lately," Yu Xi assured her.
Of course, he was more than willing to spend time playing games with Jian Yiling. With her and Zhai Yunsheng on his team, reaching the Master rank was just around the corner!
Yu Xi added, "If Miss Jian doesn't mind, I'd love to come by often to play with her." He hoped she wouldn't mind his less-than-stellar gaming skills.
After exchanging glances, both Grandma Jian and Yu Xi turned to Jian Yiling.
Jian Yiling paused for a moment before answering, "I don't mind."
Surprisingly, she genuinely didn't find Yu Xi bothersome at all.
"Then it's settled," Grandma Jian decided with a smile. "Starting tomorrow, Yiling should spend less time cooped up in her study. Although she can't play every day, let's aim for two or three nights a week where she can enjoy one or two hours of gaming. Balance is important! On weekends, if Yu Xi is free, she could also go to the amusement park or somewhere fun."
Yu Xi felt a surge of excitement at the prospect of spending more time with Jian Yiling, particularly playing games together. He was eager to explore new experiences outside of gaming as well. With the support of Grandma Jian, he felt optimistic about the new adventures that awaited them. The future seemed bright, filled with friendship, fun, and the thrill of shared victories.
