Samantha and Marcus watched as the tall, pale vampire approached past-Marcus and Elena. The club's dim lighting seemed to bend around him, shadows clinging to his form like second skin. His eyes, dark and hungry, fixed on the couple with predatory intensity.
"I remember his voice," present-Marcus murmured, his face a mask of conflicting emotions. "Smooth as silk, but with an edge that should have warned us."
As if on cue, the vampire spoke, his words carrying clearly to Samantha and Marcus despite the club's background noise.
"Such a beautiful couple," the vampire purred, circling past-Marcus and Elena. "So full of life, of passion. How would you like to experience that passion for eternity?"
Samantha felt a chill run down her spine at the vampire's words. She glanced at present-Marcus, seeing the tension in his jaw, the way his eyes never left the scene before them.
