It was raining heavily and sounds of footsteps could be heard leaving with the sound of sobbing and crying following them. However, one boy didn't move, he just stood and stared at the grave in front of him with no expression. His eyes were dead with no light in them. It was rare to see a child like this. He doesn't know how long he's been standing there, but still remains in place.
What's next? What's there for him now? Where should he go? What's his purpose?
Questions flooded his mind but gave them little to no thought.
Footsteps were heard approaching him, but he didn't bother to turn around.
If they wanted to kill him then so be it.
Feeling the warmth of someone's hand on his shoulder and the pouring rain stop, he takes his eyes away from the grave and glances at the unknown individual who had approached him with an umbrella in their hand.
The boy immediately analysed the person in front of him, identifying him as a trained male. The body movements, the look in the man's eye and his shoelaces that've been tied in the way of the army.
(You'd think a kid wouldn't know this, but he does.)
But the boy didn't care. He simply looked back at the grave.
The both of them hadn't said anything for who knows how long till the man spoke up.
"I want to adopt you... No, it would be better to say I want to turn you into a soldier... an assassin. I want you to work for me."
Turning his head and looking the man in the eye, he asks; "Why me?"
"...It's said on your file you're a prodigy. You've adapted to many situations and chose the best outcome possible. When you focus on something, you evaluate them down to the dot. You have an eye for detail and most of all...You killed someone without hesitation."
The boy simply stayed quiet and stared at his right hand. It wasn't shaking, it was perfectly calm, as if what he did was natural.
"Fine."
』
Y/N opened his eyes as he felt his body jump slightly. Looking around he finds himself in a bus and immediately remembers where he is. Feeling something weighing down his left shoulder, he looks to see a light skinned girl with brown hair flowing down her back. He could hear her steady breathing as she slept.
His body jumps again because of the bus and he accidentally nudges the girl on his left. Her eyes fluttered open as she let out a tiny yawn and looked around. Meeting his eyes, she tilted her head a little before it widened slightly.
"Sorry for sleeping on your shoulder."
"Don't worry, it's not that big of a deal."
The girl just nodded in response before looking around the bus, then staring out the window. The boy she was previously sleeping on couldn't help but notice the tiny spark that appeared in her eyes when she gazed at the scenery outside.
Y/N - Perhaps she likes the Sakura trees?
Y/N did his best not to stare at her as she peaked his interest slightly. But he also didn't want to be labelled for something stupid. He could already feel the hate from most of the males on this bus as they glared at him. He wasn't that dense, as he knew why they seemed angry at him.
Luckily an argument started, attracting everyone's attention. It was between a woman and a fellow student in ANHS who had an arrogant smirk on him, eyes filled with amusement. Y/N already knew who this blonde male was, Koenji Rokusuke, heir to the Koenji conglomerate.
His father was a man of questionable deeds, rumours spread around him. Sadly, there was no evidence to back up these claims. Fortunately for the Koenji family, these claims never went public. Y/N had only heard of this from his instructor, not like his instructor cared about it.
During the whole commotion and a girl asking for someone to give up their seat, Y/N glanced towards the female beside him, their eyes meeting involuntarily. The girl thought he was doing the same as her and was curious of everyone's reaction towards the scene in front of them.
However she was wrong as the reason why he glanced at her was to see the brunette's eyes again. He couldn't help but stare in slight awe at how blank and emotionless they seemed. It wasn't the type of a broken person who lost someone recently. It was different... Something unexplainable. Something lying deeper within them.
When she turned away he snapped out of it and looked back to see the old lady was able to get a seat from another passenger. Koenji remained seated with his headphones on and had a triumphant smirk on his face. Y/N was impressed he was able to win, though it was expected.
After who knows how long since Y/N had fallen asleep once again, he was tapped awake by the girl next to him.
"We're here."
"Ah, thanks."
Y/N smiled at her in appreciation, but she just stared at him for a few seconds before nodding and walking off the bus. He immediately stopped smiling and sighed before getting up and putting on his bag. He slowly gets off the bus and looks at the school before him.
Turning around, he looks through the window to
see where he was seated before on the bus.
Y/N - That dream really dampened my mood.
Adjusting the bag on his shoulder, Y/N starts walking towards the school entrance and passes a black haired girl with a cold glare, who seemed to be discussing what happened on the bus with someone behind him. Y/N simply yawned and continued walking away to the entrance ceremony.
What they were discussing had nothing to do with him and didn't want to waste his time on that. But if he knew the other person was the girl that had sat next to him on the bus, then he wouldn't have minded watching at least.
Y/N glances to the right as he sees a girl with short beige-coloured hair watching the two he had walked passed. He recognised this as the girl who had also tried to get Koenji to give up his seat for the elderly woman.
Y/N - What does she want with them?
Y/N just shrugged and continued walking to the entrance ceremony. Needless to say he slept during the entire thing, which he seemed to be proud of. Since the entire first year was standing in lines and listening to principle, he was able to somehow doze off while standing up. But before he did end up nodding off, he noticed the three girls he saw before in the same class line as him.
Y/N seemed to mostly focus on the brown haired girl more than the other two.
Finally arriving at the door to his classroom, he opens it, but as he does so he has the huge urge to yawn. With all of his strength, he holds it in and walks inside. He immediately went to find his seat and sat down before giving out a yawn.
Y/N - I got lucky. If I yawned as I entered the class, everyone's attention would've been on me and I'd end up having a bad impression on my classmates... Or I'm just being paranoid.
Hearing the sound of a chair being pulled next to him, Y/N looks to see a blonde haired male with brown eyes and a kind smile on his face.
"Hi, I'm Hirata Yosuke, it seems like we're going to be sitting next to each other."
Preparing himself and taking a deep breath internally, Y/N smiles back. "I'm L/N Y/N, nice to meet you."
Hirata opened his mouth and was about to speak, but the sound of a door opening and the clicking of heels caught everyone's attention in the class. They all looked to see a woman with brown hair tied up in a ponytail and had a serious expression on her face.
"Ahem. Good morning to you, students. I'm the instructor for Class D. My name is Chiyabashira Sae. I usually teach Japanese history. However, at this school, we do not change classrooms for each grade. For the next three years, I will be acting as your homeroom teacher, so I hope to get to know all of you. It's a pleasure to meet you. The entrance ceremony will be in the gymnasium one hour from now, but first, I will distribute written materials with information about this school's special rules. I will also hand out the admissions guide."
The student in front of Y/N had passed him a couple of booklets, one for him to take and the others to pass backwards. He had already received it after being accepted into ANHS and had already memorised everything in it with a glance.
Not bothering to take one, he passes the stack to the student behind him. This of course earned a questioning look from Hirata, but Y/N ignored it. He remembers everything that was written in the document.
Outside communication is forbidden, you can't leave school grounds, students have to stay at the dormitories on the school premises
Y/N - Bla bla bla, what interests me most is this S-system.
"I will now hand out your student ID cards. By using your card, you can access any of the facilities on campus, purchase goods from the store, and so on. It acts like a credit card. However, it is imperative that you pay attention to the points that you spend. At this school, you can use your points to buy anything. Anything located on the school premises is available for purchase."
Y/N eyes had slightly narrowed at the word anything, but paid no mind to it. He was too tired to think and just wants to sleep. Glancing down at his student ID card, he fiddles around with it and finds 100,000 points on it.
"Your student cards can be used simply by swiping them through the machine scanner. The method is simple, so you shouldn't get confused. Points are automatically deposited into your account on the first of every month. You should all have received 100,000 points already. Keep in mind that one point is worth one yen. No further explanation should be necessary."
Y/N - Ehhh
The look on everyone's face in this class was of shock and joy, well except for three individuals being Y/N, the black haired girl and brown haired girl. The looks on his classmate's faces were amusing to him as they had obviously interpreted what the Sensei said wrong.
It was never said they'd get 100,000 points every month, only that they got it this month. It was said points will be given to them every month but not how much.
"Shocked by the amount of points you've been given? This school evaluates its students' talents. Everyone here has passed the entrance examination, which itself speaks to your value and potential. The amount you've received reflects the evaluation of your worth. You can use your points without restraint. After graduation, however, all of your points return to the school. Because it's impossible to exchange your points for cash, there's no advantage to saving them. Once points have been deposited into your account, it's up to you how to spend them. Do as you like. In the event that you don't want to spend your points, you may transfer them to someone else. However, extorting money from your peers is not allowed. This school monitors bullying very carefully."
Y/N - Should I point it out or...?
"Yes your... L/N-kun if I remember clearly. What is your question."
Chabashira-Sensei calls out to Y/N who has his hand up. Everyone turned to him wondering what his question could be. They're getting more than they expected, what's there to question?
Y/N - Everything.
"You said we can buy anything on campus right?"
"That's right."
"Hmmm?... I guess that's all Sensei."
"Well, it appears no one else has any questions. I hope that you enjoy your time here as students."
Y/N ignored his teacher much like everyone else and fiddled with his ID. Not only does it act like a credit card, it also acts as a phone. He immediately went to the games section and started downloading multiple apps such as Angry bird, Geometry Dash etc.
"Everyone, can you please listen to me for a moment?"
Y/N glances at his seat mate and watches him stand up and call out to everyone in the class. Everyone immediately stopped moving and talking to each other as all eyes were on Hirata.
"Starting today, we're all going to be classmates. Therefore, I think it'd be good for us to introduce ourselves and become friends as soon as possible. We still have some time until the entrance ceremony. What do you say?"
Y/N - I guess there's nothing wrong with that. I'll be able to end up learning protagonist-chan's name.
"Agreed! After all, we still don't know a thing about each other, not even our names."
Y/N couldn't help but roll his eyes discreetly at what the blonde haired bimbo had just said. Obviously no one would know each other's names, it's the first day after all.
"My name's Hirata Yousuke. Back in junior high, lots of people called me Yousuke. Feel free to use my first name! I guess my hobby is sports in general, but I especially like soccer. I'm planning on playing soccer here, too. Nice to meet you!"
Y/N - How amusing.
Almost the entirety of the females in the class had seemed to have fallen for Hirata and some even started drooling.
"Well then, I'd like everyone to introduce themselves, starting from the front. Is that okay?"
As he said this, he turned to Y/N and looked at him with a smile of encouragement. With a 'fake' smile coming to his face, Y/N stood up and... yawned.
"Gomenasai~" Looking at everyone with a handsome smile, which also seemed a little tired, he spoke. "My name is L/N Y/N. I've recently come back from holiday in the UK and have gotten used to addressing people with their first names. So I might call you by it, you can also do the same and call me Y/N. There's not much to say about me other than, I like to sleep, eat and play games I guess. Just your average joe."
A round of claps went by and just like Hirata, Y/N was able to have a couple of girls blush with his smile. He sighed internally in dismay, but he needs friends to relieve him of his boredom in this school.
Everyone else then continued to take turns and introduce themselves, while Y/N was ignoring them a little and playing games on his phone. He scoffed at someone's introduction as they stated they got hurt in inter-high school championships.
Y/N - Mongrels... the lot of them.
Soon after a few students left in the middle of the introductions and everyone else continued introducing themselves. The next person to introduce themselves was the girl who slept on Y/N's shoulder.
Internally this girl was nervous and didn't know what to say. It seemed sudden for her, even though she had the past 5 minutes to prepare herself. In honesty she was daydreaming about white doves.
Y/N was just about to complete this level on his phone, just a few taps away.
"Um. Well, my name is Ayanokouji Kiyone. And, uh, I don't really have any special skills or anything. I'll do my best to get along with all of you. It's, uh, nice to meet you."
Everyone stared at her in awe as she shyly looked away from them and down at her desk. Even the girls couldn't help but blush at how cute she seemed. Kiyone avoided their gazes and looked out the window as she sat down, the wind blowing her silky smooth hair.
However one person was caught off guard.
Y/N - What?... Ayanokouji... Kiyone? Her? She's... here?
Y/N's eyes were wide in slight fear and extreme shock. He couldn't help but glance at her a little. His eyes widened as her looks were similar to him. Ayanokouji Kiron. The eye colour. The hair. He could now see the resemblance. Y/N immediately looked forward and desperately tried to calm his beating heart. It wasn't working till he realised... who cares?
She isn't his mission anymore. Anything related to her doesn't matter to him. But now that she's here, he can't wait to see what the masterpiece is truly capable of. This is no ordinary school after all. Plus there's no harm in getting close to her as well.
Y/N looked down at his phone, staring at the words;
GAME OVER
Y/N - Dammit! I was so close as well. [sigh] Time to start all over again.
