Old Ties

"Principal Vex, line one." The young feminine voice of his secretary paged through his private intercom.

"Patch them through please," he replied.

"Ah Principal Vex, it's been a long time has it not?" A familiar voice said through the phone's speaker. "Three years I believe."

Vex began to sweat, he knew this voice, and it terrified him.

"Daemon, it has been a while yes. To what do I owe the pleasure of this call? I'm sure your not interested in catching up or reliving the past."

"You are as sharp as ever my old friend. I actually called to confirm the rumor that a certain Demonborn has recently been accepted into your academy. And, as you know, that is of great concern to us. Things would not be good if he happened to pickup information in these past three years."

Vex was sweating profusely. If the boy had found out even the smallest detail, Vex's life would be forfeit, if not by the boy himself then by any bounty hunter who happen to be in the area.

"I'm sure he knows nothing, but if I find out he does you will be the first to know," Vex managed to reply.

"I'm sure I will Principal Vex, I'm sure i will. We will be in touch."

A busy signal rang through the large office overlooking the rest of the academy. He stood staring out the window and sighed. Would he ever outlive that day three years ago? Or would the past continue to throw ghosts and ghouls in face?

A buzzer sounded from his intercom.

"Principal Vex, the student dorm lists have been assigned and completed. A copy is being sent to you now via comlink." The female voice disappeared and his comlink flashed to life.

Scanning the files and finding the one he was looking for his eyes widened in horror as he skunk down into his chair. Xizreth Digas had been paired with Felice Samandriel. This was bad news for Vex, very bad news.
