"Have you ever felt like you wanted people to treat you differently?" she asked and the question seemed a little out of context to Earl. Wasn't she just about to tell him something? Despite this he smiled, he was happy just talking with her.
"I guess so," he shrugged, "when I was a child even until now, I was always treated like I was second rate even by my family and it made me feel lonely. I would like to be treated differently but at what cost? I would feel bad knowing that they were treating me better because they had to not because they truly meant it."
She nodded and asked, "what about if you wanted the other person to think better of you and you really like that person, would you go as far as changing the way you behave just to suit the person's needs?"
