Healing Magic and New Unlocks!

As the frozen web shattered under her strength, she landed on the ground and instantly fell down, cursing in pain. Although her leg had healed a lot, her bone was still fractured and a piece of her flesh missing. She had only been able to ignore the pain during the fight through sheer willpower and adrenaline.

She forced herself to sit up and used a nearby branch as support, wrapping it alongside her leg with some bandages. The wounded warrior stood up carefully, not putting much weight on her injured leg, and limped towards the tree that had her sword stuck to it. She had to wait a little until she had enough mana to cast another 'Frozen Aura' and pull the sword out of the frozen web.

[One-Handed Steel Sword

Durability: 65/150]

The swords were chipped all over and even had a small crack at the edge where it had hit the spider. Its durability had already been low after she had used it against a giant bone mace and even to avoid a powerful lightning spell. Now, it was not in usable condition and would surely shatter if used again.

Freya put the sword in its sheath and walked towards the spider's corpse. The lightning spear had hit the beast on its head. It eyes had exploded, and a hole had appeared where the spell had hit.

"I still don't understand, why did it attack me?" Freya asked, contemplating the strange behavior of the beast. "I wasn't near its lair otherwise this area would have been filled with its web and such a strong beast is usually found deep in the forest. Why is it here?"

'It was probably a guardian beast to the goblins.' Art answered her question. Even though it had been almost five thousand years since he had roamed free and he had failed to recognize the beast. He was still a being of immense knowledge. He had realized its identity after the system message. It was a Giant-Armored Spider. He had only failed to recognize it because the beast was only an infant.

'Newly formed goblins tribes will form a contract with powerful beasts for protection. And in return, they would give the beast's offerings of food.' Art continued to explain to his host. 'It probably sensed the slaughter of the goblins and came to avenge them.'

Freya looked at the dead body, deep in thought. Although she had no use for the body, the guild would pay good money for the body of magic beast, even if it was so severely damaged. But she could not move the huge beast in perfect health, let alone in her current state. So she decided to bury the body and mark it on her system map, another useful feature she had discovered. By marking locations, she could return to the exact same spot even if there were no clear landscape features.

After she was done hiding the body, she picked up her bloodied bag and began her painful journey back to the city. With her injured leg, it took her almost three hours to cover the short journey that would have otherwise been covered in twenty minutes.

Once inside the city, she hired a horse carriage at the door to take her to the nearest holy church. The man had a shabby carriage and a malnourished horse. He demanded a few bronze coins for the fee, which Freya happily handed over if it meant saving her the pain of walking all the way.

Another ten minutes later, Freya finally limped through the entrance of a big but not extravagant church building. The Church of Creation was the major religious institution of the kingdoms of Chemor and Kraus, but Freya was not here to pray. She was here because the priests could perform holy spells that will instantly heal all grievous injuries, all for a price of course.

As soon as she passed through the door, a young Nun approached her and asked, "Welcome to the Church of Creation, dear Miss. How may we be of service?"

"I will like a healing spell for my injury, please." Freya answered as she showed her injured leg to the Nun.

After bending to check in her injury and performing a quick diagnostic, the Nun spoke, "It seems your leg bone has a small fracture and a flesh wound. It would be ten silver coins for a complete treatment."

Ten silver coins, this damn woman was less of a Nun and more of an extortionist. Yet, Freya had no choice. It would take a whole month, perhaps even more, for the injury to heal on its own, and she didn't have that much time. So she reluctantly handed over the ten silver coins, which the Nun quickly pocketed, and then asked Freya to follow her.

The Nun led Freya past a large stone statue of a bearded man and into a small room, where a man in priest cloak was sitting on a table. The Nun asked Freya to sit down and went to explain the situation to the priest.

Meanwhile, Freya looked around the room. It was a fairly mediocre room. A single table with a small oil lamp and a few chairs surrounding it. The Church of Creation was supposed to be one of the wealthiest organizations across the whole continent, yet they were surprisingly humble.

The Priest quickly approached Freya and greeted her, "Good Afternoon, Ma'am. Allow me to examine your wound."

The Priest kneeled down to take a look at her leg and removed her bandages. After a few moments of examination, he held his hands in the prayer position and a moment later a small golden magic circle appeared before her leg.

"Guiding Light of Orion!"

'Guiding Light of Orion!' it was a mere first circle spell that the current her could perform hundreds of times quite easily. It was a spell which's value was incalculable to adventurers. Yet it also came with a major restriction, Holy Magic could only be used by the priests of Orion, the god of healing and mercy, and one of the three major gods. It meant devoting your whole life in service of Orion, which was not acceptable for the majority of adventurers.

Freya looked on in envy as the golden light touched her wounded leg. In an instance, the fracture vanished, and healthy tissue began to grow quickly until a moment later it was covered by new skin. In just a few moments, her leg was as good as new. She stood up and put her weight on her leg. There was no pain. She tried to walk at her normal pace and again felt no pain.

Freya gracefully thanked the Priest and the Nun. After once last look of envy, she walked out of the church and headed towards the Guild's building. After all, it was time to receive her reward that had almost taken her life.

'You are quite a strange young woman, aren't you?' Art spoke out of nowhere. 'In the past week, you came face to face with death at least three times. And yet you showed no fear or panic. Are not afraid of death?'

Freya was somewhat stunned by the sudden question. She reflected on the events of the last week and came to the conclusion that indeed she had showed no fear in the life or death confrontations. While she considered herself brave, she had never been so fearless.

'I guess experiencing death once will do that to you.' Freya answered as she remembered the time her heart had been impaled.

Artium stayed silent for a while before he spoke,' Well now that you have been properly healed. Why don't you check out your rewards for reaching level 20?'

Freya finally remembered her original purpose for undertaking the Goblin Hunting quest. She immediately focused on new messages.

Freya looked in stupor at the effects of the new trait, in some ways there were even better than the first trait. She quickly turned to look at a passer-by and activated her new trait.
