As soon the two competitors, Hjalmar immediately got to work. He walked towards the furnace and placed his hand in its mouth, before casting a first circle fire spell to light a fire. In just a few moments, the fire was roaring with power and energy. This surprised the female mage as she didn't expect the blacksmith to be a mage as well.
The ginger blacksmith calmly picked up a small ingot of Orichalcum with his tongs and plunged it into the furnace. The metal ingot began to heat very slowly, due to its innate resistance to fire, but the fire raged even brighter making it glow red.
The apprentices and Freya watched carefully as the blacksmith handled the metal with great care. As soon as the metal began to glow red hot, Hjalmar pulled it out and began to pummel it into shape using his giant hammer. The sound of hammering began to echo across the room, piercing through the silence.
