Chapter 29 Carrier on Dangerous Dungeon

"What the hell is 'carrier'?"

Amdarais asked me impatiently regarding my plan.

"To put it simply, Carrier is a Knight assigned to carry items and loot other Knights in the Raid Team. Therefore, Carrier is not bothering to participate in the Raid battle."

"Like a servant, eh?"

"Yeah, something like that. During Raid in the long Dungeon, most knights could not carry the item or loot they needed. That's why there will be a Knight for Carrier."

"I see; you're still playing a role as The Weakest Knight."

Amdarais nodded.

Fenris already agreed to make me her Carrier on the Raid.

Luckily, she was willing to explain to my sisters that I had a part-time job in the Knight Association.

She said I worked there not as a Knight but as a 'regular worker.'

Thankfully, it managed to put an ease for my sisters, so they don't think I'll take a risk for participating in the battle like a Knight.

I have just arrived at the Monas Tower, an iconic monument in my city.

The top of the monument is gold, which is one of many reasons tourists from other cities visit it.

But that's not my reason for coming to this monument.

I came here because of the blue magical gate dungeon that was summoned in front of the monument.

Hundreds of Knights had marched near the gate dungeon, prepared for the Raid.

From their thick Knight Armour, I know they are The Knight Tankers.

Weirdly, all these hundreds of Knight is a Knight Tankers.

I haven't seen any Knight Invaders and Knight Healers in here.

Since I had moved inside among the Knights, I must disguise my Magician skill.

Before I arrived, I used my Secret Ring to make my Magic Coat and Magic Glove invisible to everyone.

"Hey, look. It's the Weakest Knight!"

"What? Is it him? He looks more muscular than before…."

"Isn't he the one who miraculously survived the secret Dungeon?"

"Lots of Knight with a higher rank than him are dead brutally, and look at him now… He's a crazy lucky bastard…."

"I heard he also survived in the Temple Dungeons with Astray Knights. Guess what? He's the one who survived, and the Astray Knights getting killed. Not sure whether he is a lucky Knight or just a jinx Knight."

I hear all those such whisperings on my way to Fenris's position.

Most of their cynical staring is truly irritating.

But I rather ignore it and focus on my duty as a Fenris' Carrier.

At least they still believe me as a The Weakest Knight or The Jinx Knight, not a Magician.

"Rezvan, come here."

Fenris called me as she realized my presence.

Fenris pointed out one large backpack filled with many recovery and buff items for the Invasion.

"It's heavy, for sure. A lot of Knights can only carry it in the short term. If you feel tired during the middle of a hunt, you can place it to save your energy first."

"Hmm…alright."

I said it while trying to carry the large backpack.

It's surprisingly light.

I feel like carrying the standard empty backpack.

My 25 points of Strength are helpful for me doing this stuff.

As I glance at Fenris, she looks amazed at me.

Even some Knights who look at me feel surprised.

"I-isn't heavy? I mean, for Knight Tanker, it is heavy to carry. You look extremely calm for carrying this."

Fenris asked curiously.

"No problem. It's not that heavy."

I replied.

Fenris still mumbling in disbelief.

Never thought she and another Knight who saw me become surprised like this.

"Everyone! Pay attention!"

The muscular man shouted loudly in front of the march.

From the heavy armor with the red cape he equipped, I know he's an A-rank Knight who has become the Leader of this Raid Team.

"The Invasion toward Fortress Dungeon will start! From the last team, we heard the Fortress had dreadful Dragons controlled by the Dark Elves. They attacked the previous team with Fire Breath, so the last team had no chance of penetrating the Fortress."

Everyone is silent while imagining the dangerous threat of the Dark Elves and the Dragon in the Fortress Dungeon.

It must be difficult for the Knights to beat the Fortress because I assume the Halflings also watched it from the wall.

Those damn Halflings would blast the Knight with its magic gemstones.

"Our Knight Tankers is the key! In this team, we had prepared hundreds of Knight Tankers to combine our defense for holding any magical damage from enemies! Just hold for an hour until the Knight Invaders would strike Fortress! We are the ones who will open the way for them!"

"Yes, sir!"

All Knights replied together as a sign they had already prepared for the Invasion.

No wonder the Hundred Knights marching in here is a Tanker Knight.

The Knight Tanker leader moves inside the Dungeon Gate to lead the Raid Team.

Along with Fenris and other Knights Tankers, I walk together with them to the Dungeon Gate.

Whatever the Dark Elves, Halflings, and Dragons prepared for me, I'll strive secretly as a Magician to meet the Ice Queen!

As the blue light of Dungeon Gate diminished, I could see the broad road, founded by stone, around me.

On the south edge of the road, around 2 and a half miles from our position, lies a stone Fortress,

The thick cloud almost makes the top of the Fortress foggy, making it hard to see what lies beyond it.

It's just an assumption, but I suspect the Halflings magically created the fog to hide their appearance.

Remembering the Knight Tanker Leader's story, the previous Raid Team probably realized the Halflings' location there after they had been attacked.

"Tankers! Activate the Knight's Defence!"

"Yes, sir!"

The sudden Leader's shouting makes all the Knights raise their shield.

The blue and yellow light shines brightly, creating an enormous green magical barrier protecting us.

When I looked up, the magical green Barrier felt like a giant turtle shell that covered hundreds of Knights.

Since making the magical Barrier consume lots of energy for the Knight Tanker, they need lots of Mana Recovery item.

Those many Mana Recovery Items are difficult to carry by the Tanker Knights, so it is a carrier task to do that.

I see a dozen Carriers like me who are prepared to give a bottle of Mana Recovery to Tanker Knight near them.

For me, I only focus on Fenris and her team.

"Everyone, charge steadily!"

"Ough!"

All the Knights walked steadily under the enormous magical Barrier.

Sounds of stepping armor come out like an emerging quake for conquering the Fortress on the south edge.

A few minutes passed; I hadn't yet sensed any movement from the Fortress.

"KAAAHHH!! KAAAHHH!"

The moment we arrived halfway, the sound of Dragon's scream suddenly increased our alertness.

Under the magical Barrier, we were almost stunned when the red Dragons flew from inside the Fortress into us.

I can see about two or three Dark Elves riding each Dragon from far away.

I could attack the Dragon from this range, but I kept myself from doing that.

I still need to observe and maintain my Magician secret around these Knights.

Just in case, I already forming my own Magical Barrier from Soul's Spirit.

"KAAAAHHH!!"

The Dragon's scream comes closer to us.

The moment I see the sky, the Dragon's Fire Breath sweeps like a wave of Fire.

Fortunately, the Dragon's Fire Breath couldn't break our Magical Barrier.

The Knights still walk steadily among this wave of Fire to ensure they come closer to the Gate of Fortress.

Several Dragon's Fire Breath attempts still had not yet broken The Knights Magical Barrier.

Even though I can see gradual cracks in the Magical Barrier, it's given an adequate time for the Knight Invader to break the Fortress's Gate later.

"Don't falter! Focuses on your shield and move forward! Drink the Mana Recovery to keep your energy!"

"Yes, sir!"

The Knight Leaders shouted once again to motivate the Raid Team.

Under their hard concentration, I and other Carriers were busy preparing the Mana Recovery bottle.

I also helped Fenris drink the blue syrup of Mana Recovery.

Indeed, it helps her recover her mana, so she has additional energy to form the Magic Barrier.

I'm also helping other Knights in Fenris' team to drink the Mana Recovery bottle.

Looking for their solidarity, I think the Tanker Knights could reach the Gate as they expected.

If they managed to arrive at the Fortress's Gate, it just took a minute for The Knight Invaders to snuck in and destroy the Gate.

Approximately only a quarter road we should pass to reach the Gate.

Supported by the Soul's Spirit senses, now I can clearly see Halflings march at the top of Fortress.

At first, I thought those Halflings would help Dragons by attacking us with their magical gemstones.

Weirdly enough, they all are silent with full of concentration.

Each of those Halflings holds the magic rod with blue Gemstones.

Looking at the blue light that gradually brights on those blue Gemstones, I thought they were preparing the Ice Magic spell.

But as time went by, I didn't see any Ice Magic had been cast by them.

It becomes fishy because I heard the Halflings still mumbling their recitation of the spell.

The suspicion grows stronger as the Dragons that previously bombarded us with their Fire Breath now fly back into the Fortress.

What the hell are these Monsters up to?
