The Hotel De Anza was one of the tallest buildings in San Jose in its heyday. Its ten story central section is flanked by two nine story sections on either side. Built in the early thirties, it was designed in a modern architectural style influenced by cubism, ancient native themes and colorful patterns. Zig-zag parapets provide a stepped appearance as if the hotel was a current day Mayan temple, awaiting its sacrificial victims.
