I awoke the next day and, sadly, I got out of bed and got dressed in my uniform. I walked down the stairs leading to the kitchen and lounge room, but no one was there. Am I late? I hurried out the door but when I was greeted by the light of the sun barely peeking over the trees, I was also greeted by the sight of redhead beating the shit out of the earth mage, what was his name again? Oh, right, Adam.

"The hell are you doing dumbass?" I yelled out.

"Shut the hell up you peasant! I'm teaching this mutt a lesson!" Everyone else was standing at the sidelines with worried expression, which pissed me off, but Adam had a smirk on his face even while he had a broken nose and swollen eye. Just as Kyrm was about to smash Adam's face in, I stepped in front of the former and swatted his fist away before it could ever get close.

"You bitch!" Kyrm swung at me but I just sidestepped before catching his arm by the wrist and forcing him down on the ground.

"I'm pretty sure I have more manhood than you buddy." I was about to break the lousy bastards arm before, surprisingly, Adam spoke up.

"Let em go. I was the one who started it anyways." He popped his nose back into place before walking off towards the building meant for classes. One tough bastard, I'll give him that. I clicked my tongue before releasing the lousy redhead and walking over to Kabuto and Lyra, who stayed silent the whole trip towards the actual academy part of campus.

My first class of the day was Basics on Mana Affinities, Lyra, Kabuto, and the rest of our team also had the same class, and they taught you on all of the known affinities and the various effects that they had on ones body. For instance, a wind mage can become as light as a feather just from casting spells, of course it takes a while for that to happen but it seems like it would be useful. Around an hour had passed with the various females in the class constantly staring at me and giggling, was it some kind of game made to freak some random person out, because it was working, and I moved on to my next class, which also had the whole group in it, and this one was actually somewhat interesting. It was the History of Ralithon class, where you learned the history of significant events that had happened within Ralithon, especially the supposed 'Demon Wars' that the storybooks talked about.

The next class was Spell Casting, I'm not going to continue mentioning that the whole entirety of the group was in every class because they were in literally every one of my damn classes. The instructor had black, medium length hair that was slicked back, unusual grey-green eyes, and wore a white lab coat. The instructor pulled out a mirror from a cabinet and said that he wanted to test our proficiency in casting basic tier spells from our respective element. Just great. Everyone had completed the exercise rather easily with the exception of a few that had a harder time, but ultimately were still able to do it. I, however, was in a bit of a predicament. I had no fucking clue on how to actively use the strange lightning...

"Well, you can start sooner rather than later...Mr. Silver." The instructor 'patiently' reminded me that I could start, even though I was trying my best to explain.

"Look, I have magic, you have magic...so let's talk mage to mage...we both know I'll just blow you away with my awesome magic so let's just move on, ok?" A slight hint of pleading was evident in my voice as the instructor rolled his eyes in frustration.

"Look, if you don't show me the proficiency that you have with your magic then I'm afraid I'll have to list you as a non-mage and have you expelled, ok?" Well fuck.

I sighed through my nose before holding my hands behind my head while I thought of a way to actually use the energy present in my body. Just as I was thinking this, however, a familiar pulsing spread itself through my body, causing small sparks of red electricity to slowly cover my body. My eyes widened in shock, not because the energy responded to my thoughts, but because the insignia on my arm wasn't even warm let alone burning my skin. The instructors eyes lit up in fear and reverence as he stuttered "A-A cursed mage...with a never before seen affinity!"

Everyone's jaw practically hit the floor, but Kabuto recovered fairly quickly as he walked towards me and 'quietly' whispered "What the hell man! First you steal all of the women and now you're super badass!?" causing me to roll my eyes and bonk him on the head.

Kabuto sulked back to where Lyra was standing while nursing the bump on his head as the Instructor fumbled with a circular object before speaking into it "Headmaster, we have a Code 005 from PL8." in an overly excited manner.

Code 005? PL8? What the hell is this old antique talking about? I decided to think about the matter at another date as a resounding boom from the clocktower outside indicated that it was lunch.

"Wow, he's so cool! That's him, the kid with an unknown affinity!" Many people were basically shouting as I walked by, an annoyed expression quickly covering my face while I could feel my veins about to pop in my forehead.

"Hehe, looks like someone is popular!" Lyra lightly poked my ribs as Kabuto continued to sulk around like a dumbass.

"Tch, it's annoying how everyone keeps acting like it's such a big deal." I responded, deflating her bubble in an instant.

"Hmph, party pooper." Lyra stuck her tongue out at me before crossing her arms across her board of a chest.

Lunch was much the same. I couldn't even eat without a whole crowd of people surrounding me and asking a multitude of questions. It got so out of hand that I almost used my lightning to 'clear' a way for me to get out of the stuffy dining hall, but thankfully I had a few of the instructors come and clear the students away from me. After lunch I had a rather exciting class, the Basic Hand-to-Hand Combat class, a place where I could kick some ass and not get yelled at!

Anyways, when I walked into the BHHC, for short, class it was modeled like an arena with a wide floor surrounded by rows of seats, and I was met by a sickly and frail man who barely looked like he could stand. I withheld the urge to scoff because I knew he was the instructor simply by the fact that he had the common insignia of Northgate Academy sewed onto his left sleeve. I made my way towards one of the stair cases and I heard a familiar voice shout out.

"Yuu! Over here!" It was Kabuto...

I facepalmed, hard. I remember telling him NOT to call me 'Yuu'. I was tempted to ignore him but I know he could just float me over with his wind magic, so I complied. I sat next to Kabuto and a girl with weird pink hair and peach colored eyes that seemed to be spaced out.

"Why'd you walk away from me Yuu? Ah, by the way this is Sakura, she's also new to the academy!" Welp, looks like Kabuto is still being...well Kabuto.

Before I could say anything, the instructor clapped his hands once, silencing the whole 'crowd' because of its unnaturally loud boom.

"Ahem, now today will be more of a 'relaxed' day as I will be bringing all of you down here to assess your capacity at CQC or close quarters combat. Now any volunteers?" The frail man had a slight hunch as he held his hands behind his back in an overly relaxed manner.

A hand from the other side of the arena like classroom shot up, with a deep voice accompanying it. "I'll go, couldn't be that hard." It was Kyrm, still as egotistical as ever I see.

Kyrm jumped off the platform that held the seats, landing with a heavy thud on the stage below. Kyrm immediately adopted a low stance as he rushed the instructor and barraged him with a flurry of blows, but each of them were predictable. The instructor easily dodged all of Kyrm's attacks before launching a roundhouse kick, his arms still behind his back. Kyrm tried to block the kick, but he was sent flying from the force and collided with the wall he previously jumped over. His hair now stood up and danced about like a raging fire as he bellowed and charged the Instructor like a maddened cow. The instructor clicked his tongue before sidestepping at the last second and tripping Kyrm, making him fall face first into the arena floor. I could barely withhold my laughter as I watched the disgruntled Kyrm dust off his pants and walk back to his seat after the Instructor told him that was all he needed to see, however, he then looked to me and frowned.

"Since you think something is so funny, how about you come down here and show the class what you can do?" Damn, something must've crawled up his ass today. I shrugged my shoulders and walked down the stairs, not in much of a hurry. The whole class was silent as I began walking towards the Instructor, stopping a measly 3m in front of him. With a wink he disappeared before reappearing behind me, but I just stood still until his punch almost touch the back of my neck, but he pulled the punch back last second as he reappeared a few meters away from me. Is he trying to give me a false sense of hope, or is he just that scared of losing?

I turned to face the Instructor as he disappeared once again, making me rather annoyed as I spun and our forearms collided with a loud bang. I threw a kick at the Instructors abdomen as I also sent out a left hook aimed at his jaw. To his credit he managed to dodge before countering with a kick of his own. The 'battle' soon came to a flurry of blows, neither one of us able to find a weak spot in each others defenses. Just before the Instructors fist was about to make sweet love to my face, the clock tower indicated that it was time to head back to our 'dorms'.

"You're better than I thought kid...I'm glad that you're here with us and not with the other side, haha!" The old man pat my back a few times before walking out through the door, leaving me with a massive group of people barraging me with compliments an questions. Kabuto used his wind magic to extricate me from the mob and enhancing my speed so I could escape. I had enough of a mind to not go straight to my dorm, as it'll only make it to where everyone knows where I live on campus. After the initial excitement died down from the various groups, I snuck my way into the window of my room and let out a content sigh. Sadly this didn't last long as Kabuto, Lyra, and, surprisingly, Senaris walked into my room.

"The hell do you guys want?" I groaned

"We made dinner and we wanted to make sure that you ate your share. We don't want good food going to waste now do we?" Kabuto and Lyra nodded their heads in accordance to the formers declaration while Senaris stood behind them with her hands folded in front of her, her crystal clear blue eyes never wavering as she stared at me. I rubbed my temples and got up before stretching my tired body. I walked down the stairs and was greeted by the various conversations and laughter of everyone surrounding the dining room table, a veritable feast laid across the massive table.

I sat down and everyone immediately turned their attention to me and scooted closer. I narrowed my eyes but, before I could say anything, Saya had leaned over the table and asked "Hey, Yuuki. How old are you?" This simple question caused my brain to stall as I seriously thought about the question before responding "I think I turned 13 today..." with a thoughtful expression.

"Wait, it's your birthday and you didn't tell us?" Kabuto asked with a mock hurt expression.

"I know! Let's make a cake!" Lyra said as she grabbed Senaris' and Kabuto's hands as she dragged them into the kitchen.

This is not going to be fun...I just want sleep...

(A/N: I've decided to modify the whole birthday system so yeah.)
