The Statue

We make our way down the street. I'm starting to wish we brought an umbrella. I enjoy the rain, but it's starting to come down harder.

The statue is at the end of this road that turns into a roundabout. The statue sits in the middle of the grassy area.

Felix was right, there are only a few people. They are taking pictures with their hand in the statues', hoping they are the soulmate. If they aren't their soulmate, then it makes for a pretty picture.

"I call dibs on touching the statue first!" Felix blurts out as we get to the base of the statue.

I chuckle, "Or we could touch it at the same time and make an awesome picture. I'm sure someone here wouldn't mind taking it."

"Oh, wow, that does sound cool. We should definitely do that," He smiles down at me.

Felix walks up to a young couple and politely ask them if they would take it. They agree and I let them have my camera to take the picture with.

Felix goes to the left side of the statue, "You should have the side with the hand."

I nod and go to hold his hand. At the same time, Felix wraps his arm around his shoulders and I touch his hand. We smile and the camera clicks.

"Look!" Someone on the grass shouts, pointing at us.

Felix is the first to realize that there is no longer a statue, but a man standing in place. Felix jumps back while I scream.

Felix looks down at me, "You're his soulmate!"

"No, you are. You touched him first, right?" I look over at the statu-man.

The man speaks, "Well, we have a major problem. I don't know who touched me first, and you two clearly don't either. Is there a rule book for this type of thing?"

"I, uh, don't think so," my voice shakes with each word.

Felix looks stunned. I mean, who wouldn't be? The legend is true. Felix, or I, broke the legend. The legend that has been around my entire life.

He looks between us, "What are your guys' name? I'm Jasper."

"I'm Felix and this is Atlas," Felix just stares at him.

I have no clue what to do. Do we call the police? Do we just leave? Do we call someone special? I'm so confused on what to do.

Jasper looks down at his feet, "I guess we should try to figure out this whole situation, huh?"
