Isanna, Ron and Fiona reached to the border city in three days. With Derek gone Isanna didn't want to wait around, they hadn't stopped for long anywhere and paced through the outskirts of the cities. As soon as they reached the border town the atmosphere changed, here finally they had the answer why they hadn't met any other soldiers or royal guards on the way since they had left Quesselve, it was probably because all the guards from the region had come here. The town had grown double In size from all the military camps and tents set around it, all the weapons and armors they saw from the distant told Isanna to be extra careful here.
"So, here's the plan," she said to Ron and Fiona.
"There are too many skilled eyes here, they must have the border guarded and this whole are patrolled because they know we are coming, so it will be much easier if I go alone first, If I am alone I can move freely and try to get on the other side of the border, once I am there we will try to create a distraction, the soldiers will concentrate amd focus towards us and then you two can get out too. Be careful, I'll try to send someone to get you guys if I can, but you will have to stay hidden till then, I have no idea what things would be like on the other end, " said Isanna.
Ron and Fiona nodded and they hid in the small cave that Isanna had carved out, it's entrance was well hidden by a number of thick vines growing on the hill.
They watched Isanna leave, she had some how bent the light around her that so that whenever they tried to look at her their vision would go foggy as if they were looking straight at the sun and without being as bright.
Isanna was confident in this technique of hers it wasn't as good as Derek's, but she had taken the inspiration from him, the principles of this technique were completely different and Derek had praised her when she had first shown it to him. However it wouldn't work mich if her opponent had gotten familiar with it and knew what she was doing.
She reached the border, which was a stretch of barre land strip going far in both directions, the half-breeds had set up wooden watch towers every few miles on their side, while the humans as usual were in the South tower which was in the far distant not clearly visible and tucked in trees and hills. She was glad to see that the humans hadn't unnecessarily did something similar because putting hot blooded soldiers a few feets away in a line wasn't a thing you want if you are looking for peace and good relations.
Isanna would have to run straight towards the tower, there was no cover of trees here, with all her speed it would still take about a minute for her to reach the tower, in that time the worst thing that could happen was a spear in her back, because she would be looking away from the watchtowers and tents of the half-breeds. There could be someone skilled and strong enough to see through her technique in that one minute. The other danger was someone doing the exact same thing from the tower, they must be keeping watch on the border for any ambush, if Violet was there she would know that it was her in an instant bit it could be someone else too.
She would just have to take the chance, she ran striaght in between the two watch towers. Just as she reached the boundary she felt the shimmer in the air and she suddenly slammed her feet in the ground to stop herself, the momentum carried her forward but she barely stopped from hitting the invisible wall.
She looked around in alarm, if she stayed still for too long someone would definitely spot her here. Most probably the one who had put such a good and big illusion in front of her. It was radiating powerful mana and she was sure that if she touched it, it would do something to her.
The wall was talking, she couldn't see how tall and she couldn't guess and jump. She was looking around I'm urgency when she spotted something in the sky, someone had just thrown something from the tower towards them, it looked like rock, it hit the wall away from her on the left, the small rock had enough mana seeped into it that it jerked the whole wall and the invisible shimmer vibrated making it more visible as the ripples passed through it, the mana started flowing towards the point where the rock was trying to stop it from getting through, the wall became much weaker in front of Isanna and she burst through it with a little effort. The rock had evaporated completely by now and the wall was back to normal. Isanna ran away as the half-breeds started pouring out to see what had tried to pass through the wall, they didn't see the rock nor did they see Isanna who was far away now and near the tower. She was sure it was Violet who had helped her she was the only one who could have been waiting for her like that and with such quick thinking.
The tower gates opened for her and she was relieved to see the familiar faces of her battalion men. They were happy to see her finally back.
"Captain Isanna, we were really worried about you, "
"I told you nothing could harm our captain, " they cheered.
"All right, all right, calm down now, where is Violet?" she asked.
"She went up at the top of the tower in a hurry, " someone replied but Violet was there in a moment.
"How are you Violet? How have things been?" asked Isanna.
"They were fine until a few days ago, when the half-breeds suddenly started concentrating near the border, and well you must have seen it all your self, what's happening? Why are they doing this?" asked Violet.
"Did you inform the headquarters?" asked Isanna.
"Yes, I wrote a letter immediately, they wanted to wait to hear from you or Derek first until they did something big, the people here at the tower said their were messengers from the half-breeds who met Derek before you guys left, we haven't been able tk contact them since, " said Violet.
"There can't be too many soldiers here at the tower, " said Isanna.
"No, they were half in numbers from us, and not all soldiers," said Violet.
"Then, it's odd, they didn't send more reinforcements, " said Isanna.
"Actually they did, " said Violet now looking a little upset.
"Oh don't tell me, " sighed Isanna and before she could ask, a loud shout calling her name came from the other end.
"Isanna! You finally showed up," came Michael's voice, and she saw him walking towards her, with full armor on like always, ready to jump in war all the time.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"That's what I have been wondering fort he past two days, you know I have been travelling for almost a month now, I have gone from one edge of the kingdom to the other solving your and Derek problems, " he said and it did look like he was mad about something.
"Well that's what being a captain is like, sorry you had to do a little work for our nation, " she was pleasee for his discomfort as always.
"Don't mock me, now let's talk shop, where is Derek, why are you alone?" he asked.
"Not here, let's sit down and talk, it's going to be a long discussion, " said Isanna.
"Follow me, " said Violet and they went into the tower.
"I have been trying to get something out of your second for the past two days, but she is fierce, I have never found someone suitable for my second," said Michael.
"She is only loyal to me, so, why have you been running around the kingdom?" she asked.
"Running after Derek and that Ash Blake's mess, and I haven't been able to get my hands on both of them," said Michael.
"Ash Blake? Where is he?" Isanna asked.
"He was tangled in a messy situation with the elves and goblins, the old man sent me to take care of it, and I did, reached their in time to save their asses, they owe us a big time now, they even have me this gauntlet as a gift, anyway, he was there, but then a freaking Amazon descended from the sky on a Griffin and took him with her, god knows where, reminds me of Derek, he has found a good second too, " said Michael.
"An amazon?, these Blake siblings are full of surprises, " Isanna exclaimed.
"Siblings, what do you mean?" asked Michael.
"Yeah, his older sister, Fiona Blake, she is with Ron near the border, right now, I came here first alone, I was planning to send Violet to bring them back, " said Isanna.
"I'll be happy to, " said Violet.
"But now with that wall, we know that there is at least one very strong person their, so we'll have to be careful, I don't think they willl fall for the same trick twice, the person who made the wall must have been alerted by now, " said Isanna.
"Oh, they are strong all right, and not just one, we have been watching them since yesterday, walking around they stand out from the rest, they usually come out in the evening, We have been keeping an eye on them from here, " said Michael.
"But it is important to get Ron here, " said Violet.
"Of course, and soon if there are more of them, " said Isanna.
"I guess now you are going to ask for my help, " said Michael.
"Who else is here? Or are you too scared?" asked Isanna.
"On one condition, " began Michaele.
"Here we go, I have told you so many times, I am not g..., " began Isanna.
"It's not that, I want this Fiona Blake to be my second, " said Michael.
"What? Why?" Isanna asked.
"Well you have got one good second and now Derek has too, I want one too, " said Michael.
"It's always a pretty competition with you isn't it? You haven't even met with her yet, " said Isanna.
"It doesn't matter, I will train her, she can't be all that bad, if she has the same blood as Ash and you and Derek did take her with you in the enemies land, " said Michael.
