Hidden guard

Emily gestures for Sej to take a seat next to her on the sofa, taking his seat Sej was brought back to reality.

"Sorry for um, you know staring again." Sej was really nervous, he was still holding the three-tailed fox in his arms.

"It's ok, I am used to it, was that the so-called present. A 'charm fox' with three tails. No bad" Emily took a look at the fox and was not particularly impressed but at least it was something.

"Yeah, take it, are the three tails important?" He did not understand why she specifically pointed out the number of tails of the fox.

Emily was confused by his question. " Don't you know that the number of tails a fox has is an indication to its potential. A three-tailed fox has the potential to reach the Altar building realm if it can grow up in a good environment once it reaches adulthood."

This took Sej by surprise, he did not realise that he was holding onto such a good monster beast. Then he realised that he had just given it away and was washed with regret. But he still handed the fox over to Emily. "Of course I knew that I was wondering why you pointed out something everyone knows. Here it is for you, do you like it." There was no way in hell that Sej was going to let Emily know that he did not know about the tails and think that he only got her a normal charm fox with no potential. Firstly, he would look bad and secondly, it would be worthless as a gift.

Emily was slightly suspicious about what Sej was saying but quickly put it behind her as she did not care that much. "Yeah the fox is quite cute, anyway, is that all you wanted to see me about after making such a huge fuss at the Heavenly pill pavilion?" She replied by changing the topic to business.

Sej became serious when he heard this. "My team and I need a way to earn money quickly and need access to skill books. If we go the route that the sect wants us to, we will improve too slowly. Do you have any thoughts or ideas to solve this problem? We could not think of any."

Emily was surprised by what Sej asked for, she thought he was just going to ask for the things he needed, selfishly using his connections to get ahead. Most people would in his situation. On thinking about it further though, she came to understand that he might not even understand what his situation was. The Apail family clan wanted him to ask for as many things as he could to take his destiny and use it more directly to slow down the calamity. She was not going to tell him this though as he may become a useless person if she did that.

"Your team will be that Cara girl along with Sam and Henry I presume." Sej nodded his head in affirmation. He also knew that the clan was monitoring him. Though he did not know who was. That reminded him to ask about this.

Coming back to his request, she thought about it while lifting her dainty hand and rubbing her chin. Sej seeing this was left in a daze again. Some time passed as she came up with an idea.

"I can open the skill pavilion to you and your team and assign missions to be completed for the Apail family on the Castian planet to start with. After doing your standard hunting trips to complete the ashfall sect missions, you can do the assigned missions by us to gain access to the skills and resources your team needs. Ashfall sect would not allow any of their high reward missions to go to Apail family disciples so this could be a good workaround. What do you think"

"That sounds good to me," Sej was happy about the proposal and agreed to it. "So when would we start the missions and where should we go to get rewards?"

"The missions would be directly given to you via me or your hidden guard, as for the reward, I can give you a list of skills and resources along with prices. The prices would be cheaper and the rewards from completing missions greater. You can show that to your team and let them choose what they need or want. As for when you get your mission when if something opens up that is suitable, I will give your team priority." Emily was more than happy to have some extra manpower to complete the objective that the Apail family had on planet Castian.

Sej, however, wanted to know more about his hidden guard. " That sounds great, can you tell me more about my hidden guard. It would be best to know more about who is watching me, you understand right.

" haha, yes I know that all too well, " Emily replied. She seemed to have thought of something funny but was not going to mention it. " You can come out now" Emily spoke, seeming to no one. Suddenly a shadow appeared next to the three. The shadow was surrounded by black mist not allowing you to see who was there. As the black mist dissipated, shiny golden and white robes came into view. It was Jeremy who Sej saw when he first arrived at Planet Castian.

"This is Jeremy, you may have met him before, in exchange for the core disciple position in Ashfall sect and some resources from us, he had agreed to be your personal guard and servant for the next 5 years. As for his trust, you just need to know that the Apail family trusts him and his position in the family will increase after his mission with you is done."

Sej was taken by complete surprise by this. He did not think that his guard would be someone he knew. Even if it was just as an acquaintance. Remember that Jeremy was meant to be in charge of their group for sixth months he asked about it.

" you don't have to worry that much. Since he was promoted to a core disciple, he is exempted from missions that he does not choose to participate. The Ashfall sect would also not send him in any core disciple missions as they would not want to give up the rewards. Emily turned to look at Sej with amusement as she saw him go red like a ripe apple. "Yes, he told me all about your little freak out in the forest" Emily spoke while seemingly looking for an explanation.

"Um... um... I, I, did no, I do not call you my girlfriend," Sej stuttered. Emily burst out laughing after seeing him acting so cute. "Don't worry about it, we are messing with you."

On hearing this, Sej was relieved but was already plotting revenge against Jeremy, some things should not be said or spread around. Emily continued while Sej relaxed. " Jeremy is a peak grade 3 essence purifying expert who will soon break through to stage 4 altar realm. He can take care of most situations on the Castian planet that you will likely get into in these few years but remember, he will not actively help. His job is just to keep you alive. When you reach stage 3 essence purifying realm, he will take a more active role as your servant. You can contact me through him if you need to." Saying so Emily got up to take her to leave from the residence after finishing her tea.

"Wait, before you go, I need to ask you something. Can you put up a sound isolation barrier please?" Sej asked as it was an important issue. Although he did not know how powerful Emily was, he was certain that she was stronger than Jeremy.

Emily did as asked while also blocking visibility and then said: " Jeremy can not hear us, what is so important." Sej proceeded to ask " how much does Jeremy know about me, does he know I am a destiny child?" Emily, as if remembering about this after being distracted stated, " No he does not, though we trust him, that is a secret that can only be known to core family members for now. Don't tell him." She then turned and left leaving Sej alone and ready to start cultivating.
