The Librarian

I tried to sleep lastnight, but I couldn't for the life of me shake the thoughts from my mind.

What happened yesterday was too strange to comprehend.

"Damien, the door for you! It's Leroy, he seems upset!" If only could explain this to my mother. Atleast then I would get a half decent and sane explanation.

"Okay, give me 2 seconds, just getting dressed!" Whilst I quickly packed my spare set of clothes to change into once leaving.

We have to track this book down so seems I won't be going to school today. I hope they don't call my mom or I'm in deep shit.

"Coming". I swung my door behind me, grabbed my helmet and scooped up my bike keys, "Love you mom, I'll be home for dinner"

We set off for the library, hoping that this journey will give us the answers we needed to set all of this straight. "How do you get to my house!? you can't ride in that state, it's dangerous"

"Look dude, I have a damn lion branded into my arm, and you expect me to not be keen on figuring this shit out" he snapped at me in worry.

"Okay I'm sorry. I just worry".

We pulled up at the library, neither one of us had been here since we were young and it seemed eerily different to how we once remembered it.

The door creaked open as Leroy placed his hands upon the iron cast handles and revealed a sight that seemed as if it came from a history book. The dust showing the years of unloved books, urging for their pages to be turnt once again.

"Who's there" A voice bellowed between the aisles of bookcases.

We approached the massive oak desk, and slowly stared to notice the little frail old woman stood behind it as we got closer.

"Hello there Ma'am! Sorry to bother you on such a fine day, but we were just wondering if you could point us in the direction of the Mythological section if you may?"

"Take a left, walk straight forward, and it should be on the second bookcase to your right. You're a very polite young lad, I'm glad to help."

As she pointed in the direction we needed to head in, Leroy jabbed my leg as hard as he could, and whispered to me "psssst, look at her wrist!! She has the same marking as I do!"

As we thanked her for her advice, we took of in the direction she had set us in.

"Dude, What the hell! The lion! She has it too, that must mean something right!"

I wish that we were wrong. But we were about to find out that we were on the right path.
