Play Along

The guy quickly looks to Thane before looking back to me and saying "This way. That's right. Quickly!" I walk over to him as the girl cries and pleads. I'm about to blast the dude into next week when he suddenly says "Open the door and walk through it, now!"

Door? I turn and see that there is, in fact, a door. Huh... I comply with the guy and continue acting like I'm scared. This guy clearly has a plan and wants to bring the both of us... could this guy lead us to where the other women are being held?

I open the door and pause to glance back at Thane. He's neck-deep in a fight but he seems to be holding back. He's probably trying not to kill them... The guy with the blade suddenly pushes me from behind and hisses out "Hurry! Go!"

I stumble through the door and play up on the fall as the guy drags the other girl in and shuts the door. He slides a large lock in place before reaching down and pulling me up by the arm. "Let's go! Hurry up, both of you or I'll kill you!"

The girl continues to cry making me feel guilty. I wish there was some way I could save her and be the only one taken but it doesn't look possible. He pushes us down a dark hallway before coming to another door.

He quickly punches in a code and unlocks the door. The club has to be in on this... He shoves us through the door as a black van pulls up. The door on the black van slides open and two guys jump out and grab the girl and I. They push us into the van before quickly shutting the door and pulling off.

I can hear yelling and shouting over the earpiece as chaos continues to unfold back in the room but after everything starts to calm down, I hear the Officer say "Valen, cough if you're okay." I lightly cough as the van races towards the interstate.

I don't know where they plan on going... every city is blocked off from each other and the outside world. It's almost like we live inside large domes and everything else between the domes is considered the Void.

The Officer and Titus both sigh in relief and say "We're tracking your location as we speak so just hang tight. I think they're bringing you to their headquarters and if they are... we may just be able to blow this whole case wide open."

The girl tucks herself up close next to me as she tries to hide from the men in the van but that only earns her a few chuckles. The guy who pulled us out of the club snaps at the others as he says "Enough! I'm not in the mood for your shit!! We just lost two girls because of some drunk idiot!"

The guys in the back leering at us look to the guy with disappointment before leaving us alone. When the girl's sobs are the only thing heard in the van, the guy turns to her and yells "SHUT UP!" She squeaks and hic-ups once before biting her lip in a silent cry.

I reach up and put my arm around her as I pat her hand and whisper "It's alright. It'll all be alright." The van continues down the highway until they reach the industrial section. They pull off and take a few back roads before coming to a stop outside of a rundown and abandoned factory.

They open the door and pull us both out as the guy yells "Lock them up with the others. I need a freaking drink..." They drag us into the factory and all the way to the back but because it's so dark, it's hard to make anything out. A few other guys are sitting around a folding card table as we walk up.

They get up and unlock a large door before shoving us inside without a word. We both stumble in and to keep the girl from hurting herself, I take the fall on the bottom. I scratch my left knee and left arm a little on the uneven concrete but at least the girl is okay.

When I look up, I feel my jaw open in shock. Women and girls as young as five or six are all huddled together in the farthest corner of the room and in the very middle sits a dirty mattress. Someone's going to die tonight...

The girl next to me helps me stand and says "You're bleeding..." I wave her off and say "I'm okay..." When she sees me staring, she turns to look as well and freezes. She starts crying again as she says "We're gonna die... they're going to... and then they'll kill us!"

I stand to my full height, eyes locked onto the women and children in the corner as I say "Dying isn't a mercy given here..." Her crying intensifies as the others stay huddled in the corner. I slowly start looking around the room and quickly realize we're in like an old refrigerator or something like it.

There's one way in and one way out... not a single window. I walk over to the farthest wall and softly say "We've got a problem... there are multiple women and children down here and a lot of them look like they need medical attention." Really, they'll need more than that when they get out of here but it's a good place to start.

Some of them look like they've been down here for a while... When nothing but silence greets me, I start to feel a little uneasy. I press on the earpiece and say "Can you hear me?" Nothing... My head jerks back up as I look around the room again.

Shit... it must be interfering with the signal! I bite my lip and start slowly walking around the room, hoping to find a spot with a signal but when I don't find one, I walk back to my original corner. The ones huddled together in the corner watch me with wary eyes but they don't seem to be afraid of me.

The girl I came with seems to be hovering around the door, not really knowing what to do and I can't help but suddenly feel the same.
