Elite

This time, I don't wait for him to attack me. I quickly run at him and use my powers to make me faster. His ice-blue eyes track my every move as time around us seems to slow. I use my air magic to slightly lift me and quickly lace my right fist with it.

I reach back and fly straight at him, fist covered in small, sharp wind blades. His eyes light up and he's suddenly covered in ice! I quickly call forth my fire and mix it into the wind before slamming my fist down into the ice.

The ice shatters like glass but Thane is no longer there! I use his ice and turn them into sharp spikes that shoot right past me and behind me. When I quickly turn around, I see Thane lightly touching his cheek. A small line of blood can be seen as the two of us are attacking again.

Thin needle-like ice comes flying at me and instead of running away or just blocking them, I run straight at them and jump! I tuck my arms to my chest, spin around and use the wind to deflect the needles before twisting around to face a surprised Thane.

Using my power, I use the concrete under the mat to hold him still! It tears through the mat and latches onto him. I lace my fist in fire as I come down at him but right before I hit him, Titus suddenly appears and grabs my firey fist! I quickly stop and call my fire back with confusion but when I realize how quiet it's become, I turn to find everyone in the gym watching us.

Titus clenches his fist before leveling me with a look. He turns to look at Thane and says "You two need to take this outside." When I turn back to the others, I see that a few of them had been hit by the ice needles and other stuff that went flying.

When I see how I destroyed the mat and the ground under it is, I quickly use my power to flatten it back and physically try putting the stuffing back into the mat as I say "Uh... sorry..." Titus turns back to me and arches a thick, blonde eyebrow at me.

He grabs the back of my shirt and lifts me up like I weigh nothing! He dangles me in front of him as he says "Don't ever apologize for being a badass. You'll train with the Elites from now on. Name." I hang like an idiot, trying to keep my chest hidden as I quickly say "Valen Adler!"

He nods and puts me down saying "We have plenty of mats, leave it. Thane, show the boy the Elite training grounds." Thane nods and says "Follow me." I quickly fix my shirt and follow after him. Doing my best to ignore all the looks I'm currently getting.

After a few turns, we come to a huge inside garden/gym. Thane hits a button and I watch with awe when the ceiling suddenly slides open, revealing the bright sun and blue skies. "Elites... I've never even heard of them... this is where they train?"

I turn around to look at Thane but I catch him watching me closely. He frowns a little and nods his head as he says "Yes, they've had Elites for many generations and it now seems your one as well." My eyes grow large as I slowly point at myself in confusion.

He ignores me and walks past me saying "I joined last year with a few others. Don't be mistaken, Elites are the first and last on the battlefield. I hope you're prepared little bird." My stomach flips at that but when my brain catches up to what he just called me, I quickly run over and ask "What did you just call me!?"

He smirks!! He actually smirks as he says "You're like a little bird. Flipping and flying around like one anyway. Did I say something wrong?" He finally turns to look at me with that same smirk and I suddenly have the urge to kick it right off his face.

"Yeah, don't call me that." I say looking over to the large... playground? Thane walks over and says "This is a training course. We'll be starting this tomorrow and the trick is to finish in one piece."

It doesn't look so bad... from this angle anyway but what he says has me a little worried. Thane turns to me and asks "How are your grades?" I shrug and say "I just started but it's not hard. Why?" Thane nods and says "Because you'll probably be put into the Elite classroom with the other Elites. The classes are more advanced and more difficult."

I awkwardly nod my head and wonder if I screwed up. Maybe I shouldn't have gone all out? I bite my lip and frown with worry. I really don't know at this point. When I look over to Thane, I see him watching me closely again.

I step back a little and ask "What?" He frowns at me and asks "Has anyone ever told you, you look like a girl?" I sputter a little then say "Screw you! Do you think I like hearing that!? I'm on the small side, okay!?"

Thane smirks at me again and says "Okay, little bird. Let's go to the infirmary and get you cleaned up." He reaches up and rustles my hair before walking away. I watch him walk away with confusion. He agreed but I feel like I still lost...

I sigh and follow after him but when we get to the infirmary, I feel like backing out and running. Thane finds it amusing and blocks the door. I glare at him and bare my teeth at him as a heavy woman grabs my arm and pulls me over to the bed.

"Oh, come now! I won't hurt you, I promise!! You're such a cutie pie!! What's your name hun?" The woman with bright red lipstick and matching red hair asks. I send a look of fear to Thane and by the way his broad shoulders shake, I can tell he finds the whole thing amusing.

"Valen... ma'am," I say taking a deep breath. She gives me a large smile and starts touching my jaw and lip. I suck in and pull back with a look of hurt. She blinks at me in surprise and says "Oh my... you're adorable!!"

She wraps her arms around me and gives me a large hug! But because the woman is... huge! I can barely breathe!! I'm smothering in her boobs!! I flail around and try to pry her off but she doesn't stop until she's done.

By the time we leave, I feel like I've aged ten years. "Come back and see me whenever you're sick or hurt!" She blows me a kiss that has me nearly in tears. When we finally turn the corner, I start kicking and punching at Thane!

He easily blocks the blows and says "Calm down little bird. I'll buy you something yummy." I'm so angry my eyes are teary. I grit my teeth and turn around, heading back to the dorm room. Screw him!

He snatches my collar and starts dragging me back to the Mess hall while saying "Okay, stop pouting. I'll buy you a lot of good food to make it up to you, okay?"
