Chapter 2: The Mysterious Invatation of the House of Afterlife

"Hmm, ok. I've decided, let's sign up then!" After making a decision, Danna jokingly filled out the form and read out the requirements .

" Must be: Currently Employed, a Part-timer, Full-timer or unemployed, must also have stress issues, must be an avid fan of isekai or has been a reader for more than three and lastly, must be above 21…."

" Those Employees with high position or has stable life are automatically rejected"

There was even a small note at the bottom that says:

(Ps: Stress issues is a must have, if not, your application is hence deemed as invalid)

'-What the flip? These scammers at least seem very professional huh? They even emphasize that stress issues is a must have,and the high paying employees are rejected?…Hahahha'

Checking the form one more time, and after seeing that it was ok, Danna then clicked the submit button without hesitation. Danna looked at the screen for a few seconds, disappointment flashed within her eyes when nothing happened.

Danna felt conflicted inside, what was she doing expecting something?

"Ridiculous, sigh….!-" Abruptly, Danna didn't even get to finish her sentence when she started to notice some irregularities, and her PC screen started flashing.

Ding~! The screen dimmed and was replaced with a black background with a really stylishly designed letter A as a symbol in the middle. Subsequently a notification shaped like an envelope emerged in the screen.

"Has my PC just...,it has been hacked?!" Danna was confused with what was happening and started regretting filling that scam of an application form.

-' I knew it, it was really a scam. No!! I can't lose my only Pc!'

Danna was screaming inside, what if her Pc was already planted with virus and goes defective or broken? If she even lose this laptop of hers, what was she going to use?

No!!!

Without any option or any idea on how to fix her laptop, Danna quietly looked and observed her screen. Noticing the notification, Danna read it aloud with confusion, worry and regret in her heart.

It says- " Welcome, Dearest Applicant! Congratulations on having been successfully having successfully filled out the form! We are glad to announce that you have passed! We extend our greetings to the Nth member of the House of Afterlife. Your member code is: 092447. To proceed with transfer please just kindly see your invitation letter and sign your signature to proceed. Thank you!"

'-eh??? Wha…what?'

...Danna's mind was buzzing with a thousand questions.

"House…House of Afterlife? Member code-092447? What's that?" Danna was sure that if she goes to have a brain X-ray scan right now, the doctor would really see lots of question marks.

She started getting a little nervous and scared now too. It was not that she was a coward but it was naturally a part of human nature to get scared of the unknown. However Reality didn't give her much to think when it gave her another puzzle to solve again.

Out of thin air, a piece of Yellow paper folded like an envelope started falling downward while smoothly and slowly gliding in the air. Miraculously, it landed exactly in Danna's keyboard, right in front of her.

Remembering what was said in the notification earlier, Danna reached out for the envelope with much uncertainty evident in her eyes and tore open the envelope…Inside lies a jet black card with also a letter A symbol in the middle like what was shown in her screen earlier.

She observed the A symbol, compared it to the symbol in her screen…and sure enough! the two were identical! Feeling the fold in the card, Danna slowly, bit by bit, flipped it upward to see what is written. Besides, didn't the notification say something about her, needing to sign something in the envelope?

Knowing that the two letter A symbols were identical, Danna was even more sure that this envelope was connected to the application form she jokingly filled out and that there was really something unusual going on about that 'Isekai application form'.

She even started getting a little bit excited now, what if it was really true? Hahhaha! I must be the luckiest person in the world!

Because of her expectation, Danna began smirking inside as she let her imagination run wild, so much that she some screws in her brain loosened. Without her realizing that what she is currently doing was counting the chicks before the eggs even hatched.

After opening the card, Danna was surprised to read her Real Full Name lying in the first line. Earlier, She was not really serious in filling out that form, hence she didn't write her real name and only, jokingly, typed a fake one. But here, in the invitation, her real name was beautifully written in cursive. In the first line, the words, 'Danna Alegre', was very stylishly written in cursive, which surprised her.

Under the line were just two simple words: Confirm Membership?

Danna hesitated but still got up to get her pen and scratched her signature at the very left corner, in the bottom of course. Seemingly like magic, the A symbol shined, subsequently her signature shined too, with the light tracing the lines of Danna's signature, the envelope crumpled like it was turning to dust.

Danna watched all the wonders happening with unblinking eyes, full of interest,but the moment she blinked…the envelope was gone. What remained in her hand was a light green badge with the same A symbol together with the number 09447 below it. The badge lay quietly in her hand, it unusually felt cold to the touch.

Seconds after, the badge also started to disappear like the invitation, but this time, Danna, started to disappear with it too. Starting from her fingertips, to her palm, to her wrist until it got her whole right hand.

"…!" Danna reflexively flung her hand away, in an attempt to throw the badge but,too late. She helplessly watched as it spread from her hands to her shoulder...and until consumed almost half of her.

In the apartment, the girl could only watch as her own body continued to disappear with a helpless glance, up until it reached her head and eyes. Like dust scattering in the wind, she just quietly disappeared, not even a hair strand was left behind.

Inside the apartment, the golden light spilled from the windows and the breeze fluttered the curtains like everything was normal. Without the clumsy girl doing monologues inside her own house, the apartment, lacking it's owner, returned to its usual tranquil state, quiet and peaceful as if nothing just happened. In this world, the girl 'Danna Alegre' was destined to never exist again.
