#Chapter Thirty-Three
She pulled the trigger as she heaved the massive gun to and fro. "This thing must be broken!" Kitty yelled to her. "It's moving so slowly and the zombies aren't dying!"
Melanie laughed. "It's not broken. You just suck at it!"
Kitty removed one hand momentarily to give Melanie's shoulder a light shove. "You asshole."
Melanie held the gun steadily to the screen and fired. The zombies fell down one after another. "Look! It's so easy."
Kitty yanked the gun upwards. "Help! Some mutated zombie is trying to eat me!"
"I'll come and find you!" Melanie yelled.
Her screen filled with red as the bold words flashed on the screen. "I'm dead!"
Melanie stared at her screen. "No!" And just when she was distracted, some boss turned up and KO-ed Melanie with one hit. She turned back to her screen. "Crap." Then they both laughed and left the machines.
"You wanna get a slushie or something?" Kitty asked Melanie as they strolled around the arcade.
"You literally just had one, Kitty," Melanie laughed, shaking her head.
"Hey, don't judge," Kitty giggled. "I just entered an asylum filled with hordes of undead people trying to tear out my throat. I think I need a drink."
"Sure," she said. "Because of all the exercise just now, pulling some buttons and all that yelling."
Kitty rolled her eyes. "How are you so good at arcade games anyway?"
"Not many people come here," Melanie pointed out. "So I came here with your dad often."
"Oh," Kitty said. They continued walking around until Kitty spotted an arcade game with bikes in front. "Oh my gosh, that looks so fun!"
"Racing?"
"Looks like it!"
"Loser buys dinner?" Melanie asked with a grin.
"Oh, you bet!" Kitty said as they ran towards the bikes in laughter.
