The room spun, and twirled under me as I tried to stand up. I fell back to the floor and winced because my head had hit something hard- like wood.

I laid back on the floor, and looked up. There were light stars cut from cardboard gummed to the ceilings, and that was when a cord struck a beat in my head.

I was back! I was back in my room, and was laying on the floor beside my bed.

Picking myself up again, I bolted to the light switch. The room lightened up, revealing my large well-arranged room with its bare gray walls.

With a drop on my knees to the floor, I covered my mouth and muffled a scream, sighing heavily as hot tears began to drop like rain, streaming down my face, washing away my pain—the greatest pain I've ever experienced in the last couple of hours.

I ran to the mirror to be sure it was real, and that I wasn't dreaming again.

But, then I got the utmost shock of my life.

My eyes were glowing with hot shades of yellow, and my face was beginning to possess that of a strong man.

I shut my eyes closed, as my hands slowly came up, shaking all the way.

Although I knew what I was going to find, I chose denial, hoping everything I was seeing right then was part of my frequent illusion.

My hands came up and I opened my eyes to see long sharp and shiny claws growing on my fingers.

Is this what it is like to be a werewolf?

This thought crossed my mind in a fleeting second and a realization snapped at my brain. Wait, what?! I'm transforming into a werewolf?!

The idea didn't go well with me as I lost my marbles. I staggered to the back, colliding with my reading chair, which fell to the floor with a loud crash.

Coupling with my fear, like a sneaky thief, was my door which sprang open with a loud creak.

My breath ceased as I hastily bent over the table, fumbling with the fallen chair, while taking lots of time placing it back to its previous position, and saying a quick prayer to the Almighty that whoever had opened that door would not catch what was happening to me.

"Chicken!" Nizhoni, my twin sister screamed. "Don't tell me you're not ready for school?!"

I gritted my teeth, holding back my disgust, scared of what would happen if I lashed out. Why was she up in my room?

"Oh, It's your tongue today." She picked up one of the collections of books on my library shelf and strolled towards me, gumming loudly.

A quick shiver ran through my body. She shouldn't see me this way. "Stop moving!"

"What?! Just tell me you want to give me high blood pressure, without saying it, you idiot!" She barked, her words flowing out in one breath.

"Nizhoni! Get out!"

"Go to h*ll!"

"Just leave my room! Now!"

"Do whatever you like! I hope to not have you in the car in five minutes smack-dab!"

She waited for a response and when she didn't get any, She hissed, and left, violently jamming the door close, and not forgetting to throw a kick at it.

"Bye, Mom, I'm leaving! Your little munchkin is in one of his foul moods! See ya!" I heard her call my mom as soon as she left.

"Nizhoni! Wait!" My Mom called from the kitchen, the clanking of plates she was probably clearing following her voice. "Just wait a minute, okay?!"

"Just a teeny minute…" Nizhoni sings as she jammed the front door shut.

I sighed, thinking I could breathe for a minute when my mom's footsteps creaked on the stairs as she raced up to the room.

The sounds of her footsteps gave me a quick jerk, and with that I  bolted to the door, fumbled with the doorknob for a while, and twisted it locked.

"Don't you dare lock that door Kiergan!" My mom heard the sound of the knob locking and shouted.

I rested my back on the door, my eyes closed and my chest heaving. I thought what I had experienced was a dream. How could I possibly explain this horror to my family?

Meanwhile, my mom had started banging on the door. "Kiergan! Are you feeling sick?!"

"Oh, baby! Will you please open this door? Please, Kiergan." Her voice shook with looming tears.

"Is he refusing to open the goddamn door again?!" My Dad questioned my Mom as he rushed up the stairs to meet her.

He joined my mom in banging on the door. "Kiergan, open this door now, or I'd break this door open!"

My wolf began to stir within me, and I felt a rush of fury swell up to my chest.

I folded my hands into fists, trying to stop myself from releasing the demon, but the wolf had a better control of me. "Leave me alone, you gruesome fellows!"

I shivered at the sound of my voice and my hands trembled as my eyes caught the present length of my claws. They were becoming longer.

My legs wobbled as I staggered to the mirror, terror  gripping my core, while staring at my reflection in the mirror.

Nothing had feared me more than what I was seeing.

It was as though darkness had taken over the land—and I was the darkness.

Black furs were growing out of the pores on my face and body, just as the whole of my hands were no longer that of a human.

A sharp thud that landed on my door jolted me out of my despair, but didn't give me a chance to process what was going on, when suddenly my door came tumbling down and my parents rushed into the room.

My body stiffened and cold sweat broke out of my back. I was doomed! How do I explain my current body features?!

"Kiergan, baby! Are you okay?! Are you hurt somewhere?!" My mom yanked me into her embrace and began to sob.

Pulling away from my mom, I dashed to the mirror, only to find myself back to being human. What on earth is going on with me?!

My mom walked over to me, and grabbed my hands. "What is it, Kiergan? Talk to me, honey."

"I'm fine, Mom. I just wanted to be alone for a while." I said, trying to avoid my father's eyes.

"Oh! My baby!"

"Raise your head and look at me, young man." As gently as my father had spoken, I knew he was fuming inside. I looked up and met his gaze, but lowered my eyes again. He was glaring at me with his face still as stoic as ever.

"I'm sorry, Dad." I said quietly, while rubbing my moisturized palms on my short black jeans.

"No, you should be sorry for yourself at how much of a stupid child you are!" My Dad said, his tone sending a shiver down my spine.

"Charles!" My mom shouted at him, clearly pissed. "Don't speak to him in that manner!"

"He's a nuisance to this family! Remember the last time he almost killed himself inside this room?!"

"God, Charles! He's just a little boy!"

"Of course, he is." My Dad scoffed.

"Just cut the boy some slack, Charles! Remember what his therapist said?! You've done enough to his detriment already!"

"I'm parenting my child! I'm not gonna sit around and watch you destroy the lives of these children!" He said firmly, without any sign of emotion.

"Oh! Now you want to talk about parenting, huh?! When was the last time you were home?! Tell me what's going on in everyone's f****** life!"

"I'm working my ass off so y'all could be fine! Your only job is to make sure they're okay, Vespera! But clearly you can't even do this much! No wonder you haven't gotten a job ever since!"

The words hit my mom really badly, and she stared at my dad wide eyed.

Every one of their arguments always ended up like that- insults and indirectly probing at each other's wounds.

"I'm sure you'll be, of course, very fine with taking on all of the responsibilities." She wiped away her tears, and started leaving when Nizhoni, who must have come in after she heard all of the noises in the house, shouted.

"Do you think this is the right time for this?! Something's wrong with Kiergan!"

They both sharply turned to look at me, and a loud gasp escaped their lips.

My body was jerking like there were a couple of naked wires passing through me, causing a shock with my eyes rolled to the back, while I was being transformed into what has been lurking around—

A werewolf.

"Jesus Christ! What the heck is this?!"
