The Rose (DC Universe Fanfic)

Richard Fisk, The Rose, is the son of Wilson Fisk, The Kingpin. My name is Richard Fisk, but I'm not that Richard Fisk, I merely share his memories and appearance. Suddenly finding myself in Gotham City, I must make use of my newly installed Memories to not drown in the sea that is the streets of Gotham. Only a few issues, I need to take care of a child, and I now work for a criminal named Penguin. At least the pay is good.

Narrating a Time Skip

When I first appeared in a dirty alleyway in a filthy corner of Gotham City, I was terrified.

I had just died, run over by a large vehicle, and had memories not my own shoved into my head. My appearance has also changed, gone was the slouch in my walk and the fat on my belly.

I was fit, for the first time in years I felt like I could run half a marathon without passing out.

But the biggest change, was that I was now blonde. Not a big deal but I must say it took some time getting used to.

But that didn't change the fact that I was alone in a strange world. Yes, I would have been able to use The Rose's memories of running a gang in order to get enough money to live comfortably, but I didn't do that.

Don't get me wrong, The thought definitely passed through my head several times, just start a money laundering scheme or an underground fight club, but those thought quickly left my mind when I thought about them for more than a minute.

I was in Gotham city after all, I admit I don't know a lot about comic books, most of my knowledge comes from the memories in my head, but I did watch movies. Gotham city was the city Batman fought crime.

Now, I know Batman is Bruce Wayne, I know Clark Kent is Superman, I know that the Flash runs super fast and Aquaman can speak with fish.

I know the basics is what I'm getting at, now back to the topic. I was alone in Gotham and I knew crime, while most likely the best option I had with the memories implanted in me, wasn't a good option because of the location I was in, Maybe if I wasn't in Gotham. Are there any superheroes in Seattle? Thoughts for later.

Luckily for me, Crime isn't the only thing The Rose was knowledgeable about.

Did you know, there are around 150 species of wild roses and more than one-thousand cultivated varieties? I surely didn't.

Apparently, The Rose knew about Roses. And I just so happen to be looking for a way to get money, and Gotham has a lot of stores looking to hire workers with no known criminal background.

And so merely a week after I arrived in Gotham, I got a job. I was now a florist, The pay was terrible but I at least got to stay in a room upstairs.

My new boss was a kind old woman, going into her late sixties or early seventies.

"You remind me of my grandson" Was what she told me when I asked her why she hired me. I won't complain, if me looking like a granny's family member was enough to get a job here, I might have an easy future.

And it really seemed like that, for the next two and a half years my new life was going swell.

I managed to get legal documents, I was now a 22 year old man, I even have an apartment of my own.

While yes, it's on the cheaper side, in the rougher part of Gotham, but at least it's mine.

My new life was really going on the up and up, using the vast well of knowledge about flowers and street smarts from The Rose, I was comfortable.

But all good things must end.

And that's how we got to where we are now, With me standing outside of a burning flower shop, A kind old woman dead in my arms, and a short man with an umbrella leaving a suitcase on the ground next to me before leaving.

The present might not be a good place to start, let's go a week back to the moment this fiasco began, to the day Oswald Cobblepot walked into my life and changed it forever.
