Chapter 8 – Training with Ralph

A week after Ender received his wooden sword Ralph finished early in the fields so he practice with Ender today. After a week of practicing with the heavy wooden sword Ender was able to freely move around with it at least. There was not much discomfort from swinging his wooden sword. He could not execute his moves perfectly but at least he would not be much impeded.

Ralph had asked Old Milton to make a wooden sword as well for himself so he could practice with Ender. Old Milton grumbled and complained the whole time but he properly got all specification that Ralph was requested. Though the wooden sword was standard it fit Ralph well.

Outside in the back yard was currently Ralph, Millie, Ender, Percy, and Alice. The final two were there because the trio were playing during the day. Ender has made a routine to practice in the morning and if Percy and Alice doesn't come to play Ender would just practice for the day.

Ralph and Ender were currently separated by five meters with their wooden sword in hand. Cheers could be heard from time to time from Percy and Alice wishing Ender luck. Millie on the other hand was telling Ralph to easy on ender or he would end up black and blue after.

Ralph started to feel like if he wins he loses and if lost he would still lose.

Ralph started in a middle like stance that looked normal at least while Ender had his sword low to the ground.

Just as Ralph was about to talk Ender started first, "Dad if win can you practice with me how I think look coolest?"

Ralph started chuckling before replying, "Of course your dad will do all the cool moves you suggest."

After agreeing Ralph announced that the practice match would begin once the count down had ended and that he would only be blocking for Ender's practice, "Five, four, three, two, one, and start."

Ender knew that he had to go easy on Ralph at the very least because though Ralph was older and stronger he had no techniques or arts to use. Calming down Ender started to move forward as quick as a 4 year old should.

Ender began by swinging the wooden sword from down to up Ralph responded by trying to the match quickly by knocking Ender's wooden sword out of his hands. Ralph thoughts were that to end it quickly and have a reflective talk afterwards. However life does not as planned.

Just as Ralph's wooden sword was about to collide with Ender's wooden sword like magic seemed to go through Ralph's. Caught off guard Ralph quickly backed away. Ender did not pursue and had a 'confused' face.

Ralph asked for a pause in the match for a moment to make sure that the wooden swords were normal. Ralph felt both his and Ender's wooden sword for couple of moments before giving up and starting the match again.

This time Ender brought a slash downwards towards Ralph's hand seeming to disarm him. Ralph responded by striking upwards instead. Just like last time when Ralph's and Ender's wooden swords were about to collide they seem to miss but Ender strike just barely hit Ralph's hand.

Being hit regardless Ralph's hand started to hurt. Ralph started have second thought of having a match with Ender. His thoughts were that Ender was too lucky to barely pass his sword.

Ender decided to do a horizontal slash to attack while Ralph decided defend himself. However time since Ralph's hand was not moving much Ender was able to aim easier at Ralph's hand. Ender's wooden sword struck Ralph's hand causing him to drop his sword ending the match.

Though the match ended quickly and Ender was able to seem like series of coincidences Ender really need to restrain himself. Ender had to restrain nearly all his instincts and had to act happy while confused of his victory.

Percy quickly ran over and announced that Ender was the winner. Millie walked over with Alice trailing right behind. Millie went over and gave Ralph a kiss on the cheek thanking him for going easy.

Ralph quickly laughing and agreeing, "Ender you won one way or another so I will practice with you when I have the chance."

Ender was elated inside and outside. Ender quickly exclaimed, "Then dad you have to you have to practice these moves and technique I thought of. It called 'The Big Bad Ogre Orc Technique'. I think it will fit you perfectly."

When everyone heard the name Millie and Alice had to stifle their laughter, Ralph's lips were twitching with a smile, and Percy was rolling on the floor laughing.

When Ender saw this he was confused legitimately. Though the 'Big Bad' part may have been excess he thought it help prove how cool the technique was. He even created the technique tailored to fit Ralph.

Ralph though happy that he was going to be with his son was slightly tired that he had use that name. Ender was felt that he was still on role asked Millie something too. Millie attention was caught and decided to answer based on the name. Ender triumphantly exclaimed, "The name of art is called 'The Most Beautiful Wind Fallen Angel Technique'. It sound great right?"

Each of the people there had colorful expressions Percy who had just caught his breath was back on the floor laugh, Millie and Alice were giggling, and Ralph felt like he just swallowed a fly. Ralph thoughts were, "Why am I the 'Big Bad Ogre Orc' while Millie is 'The Most Beautiful Wind Fallen Angel'. I need to teach this child some naming sense."

Both his parents agreed to use what Ender had created for them and received a lecture from Ralph about the names. Ender was confused though. Ender used the knowledge from the Demon King Izrath to create techniques for them and used bits and pieces of the original names for them.
