She's turning 18!

The feeling of knowing that you're no longer a kid and now growing into a young lady is so thrilling. I had always wanted to feel like an adult. That's why I always wonder how grown ups behave, like the way they talk, walk even how they adapt to some certain circumstances. "Oh I just feel so thrilled about how my life would be once I turn eighteen!".

Maybe when she finally turns eighteen her parents would care more about her even if it's a little, she's obsessed with being an adult even if she knows that being eighteen doesn't really make her a full grown adult yet.

Lisa has anticipated for the day she would turn eighteen but she still fears that it won't make any difference to her parents.

Betty had her lavished birthday party the previous year with lots of fun activities which made her gain more popularity in school. "Like everybody just can't stop talking about my 18th birthday"Betty brags each time she gets the opportunity to talk about it.

Lisa's parents were just like ghosts in her life even to the point of not taking her birthdays serious. She could barely remember the last time they planned a party for her, not because they didn't have the money to, but because they didn't find it important.

"I'm tired of this reluctant behaviour my parents always puts up each time my birthday comes by"

Lisa sneered in anger, while she sat on the dining in the well decored siting room with long sofas and beautiful art frames hanging on the walls.

Mrs Gina walks in "my darling how was school today?" She said with her bag on the sofa which she dropped earlier.

"Welcome back mom" Lisa responded.

" .....what's with the long face, my darling...." Mrs Gina replied.

Lisa didn't want to start the conversion with her mom who was obviously not ready for such.

"Come back here, young lady!" Mrs Gina sneered at her. " What has gotten into you, that you now have the guts to walk out of your own mother" she continued. On hearing such words, Lisa rushed out of the dining and headed upstairs to her room.

"Lisa! Lisa! Lisa!" Mrs Gina yelled loudly with her face looking like a retarded beast.

she never bothered to follow her upstairs to know why she had reacted that way, but Mrs Gina has always believed Lisa to be a child that airs her opinion through her actions without saying a word.

Lisa pretending to be asleep when she heard the knock on her door, she's fully aware it's her mother but she pretends not to hear.

"the door opens with a slight sound as her mom walks in".

Lisa still trying to pretend with her eyes shut while her mom walks closer to the bed.

She sits on the bed which makes Lisa nervous and she noticed the slight movement on the bed, it gave her a clear doubt that Lisa was actually asleep.

"you don't have to pretend to be asleep for us not to have this conversation, my dear" Mrs Gina said with a soft tone.

Her eyes were still fixed on Lisa who was still lying on the bed with her face turned sideways towards the window side.

After a brief silence, Lisa turned towards her mom and sighed.

"why do you and Dad hate me this much, mum" she says trying not to cry.

"you know, sometimes you both make me feel like i'm not loved" she continued with her eyes filled with tears.

"oh my poor child, why would you ever think of such. I and your dad both love you with everything" she replies.

"Mum I just want to be loved and cared for, it's not about your gifts but your attention" Lisa responded.

At this point the atmosphere became tensed for both mother and daughter. The conversation really brought out Lisa's emotions and how she

really felt about her parents inattention towards her.

"this conversation isn't over yet and I'll speak to your Dad about this when he gets back" Mrs Gina said abruptly.

Later that day Betty came by Lisa's house to see her and for them to talk about her plans for her birthday party.

"I don't think I want a party?" Lisa sneered

"wait, what! tell me you're joking girl, like are you serious right now?" Betty slammed back at her.

"you're turning 18, like you anticipated for this for so long" she continued.

"I'm just not feeling like throwing a party and all that, at least it's not much of a big deal? right?"

"is there anything bothering you cause you sound weird.

The conversation between them continues just after she stood up from the couch to get a glass of water and a bowl of chips from the kitchen.

"you know I love you right, I hate to see you sad!".

"it's not easy yunno. I'm just tired of everything happening in my life right now and my parents aren't helping issues.

It seemed Lisa didn't want to throw a birthday party but she didn't have a choice cause Betty made sure she agreed to it.

"Come on girl, we have a party to plan" Betty said

with a smile while she makes plans for the special day.

Lisa's parents were thrilled about the party cause they wanted to use the opportunity to shower their daughter with love.

Lisa avoided having any conversation with her parents till after the party and for the first time in five years, they showered her with lots of love, gifts and many other things that really made her eighteenth birthday special.

"I wished this day never ended" she said with a grin on her face as she gazed on her parents preparing for her long awaited eighteenth birthday party.

My birthday was to be celebrated in the evening and my beautiful ball gown was delivered by noon, the dress was made for the occasion which made me look like a princess.

The party started in our large garden with colorful lamps, flowers and ribbons which made it look like a "love garden".

A large table was laid in the middle of the garden with a lovely decor of flowers and ribbons.

The cake arrived on time. The renowned baker "Mr smith", had made it. The cake was beautifully baked with chocolate which was my favorite with the words "Happy birthday Lisa" embossed on it. Eighteen candles were put on it to show that it was my 18th birthday.

The scene was beautiful to watch from my room window. I almost cried as I saw my parents, friends and relatives at the party just for waiting to see the birthday girl which was "me".

"I would never forget such a daylike this" I said to myself.

"Come on everyone's waiting to see you" Betty said with a smile on her face. As I walked downstairs with my beautiful ball gown like a princess ready to be crowned, so I thought with everyone amazed by my beauty.

"Here she comes, the big girl " said Frederick who was already waiting patiently to see me.My eyes were filled with tears as I saw everyone present at my birthday with lots of love being potrayed at that moment.

I walked like a princess and stood before the beautifully crested chocolate cake while I blew out all the candles on the cake to make a wish. I was so happy in fact this was the most memorable day of my life and I wished it never ended.

Everybody clapped saying "Happy birthday to you" as I blew the last candle.

My parents gave me the best gift ever by just being at my birthday party cause that was more than anything I would wish for as a gift.

There were alot of presents from my friends, neighbors and my relatives and o loved all the gifts even if I hadn't opened them yet. My father had arranged an ochestra on this occasion, the finest music was played and I cherished every moment of it.

My Grandma whom I had always cherished kissed me on the forehead and we danced together happily, my parents also danced with me while the music was played in perfect harmony. Betty made the preparations for the party and she really made me smile, I hugged her tightly when she came to dance with me and for the first time in a long time, I kissed her on the cheeks while we danced all night long.

My eighteenth birthday was so thrilling and I loved every moment. It made forget everything I went through and it put smiles on my face and I would never forget that moment. The guests were all served with cake, sweets, drinks, cocktails and ice-cream etc. There were other skits by comedians, dancers and lots of games were played and it made the party even more fun.

The entire evening was just fun filled till the end.

"Happy birthday Lisa" Frederick said as her walked close to me.

"Thanks for coming, you're such a loving friend indeed" I replied while we danced together like a couple as the music played on. We both looked at each other's eyes and at that moment I felt something special which made me smile at him. It was like in the movies when the prince had to dance with his princess whom he would marry and the moment was so romantic. We both loved each other but we weren't just ready for such entanglement just yet.

The guests noticed were all happy and my parents made the day even more special for me. "My baby is a big girl now" my mum said as she gave me a bear hug.

"Thank you mom, I love you" I said to her as we all danced together.
